Certified Relocation Services

Houston

Winston of Coraopolis PA (11/18/03):
I scheduled my move through National Moving Networks. They are just a sales organization. They sublet it to different moving companies. My move was given to Certified Relocation Services. They promised to move my stuff on 06/11/03. But they came and picked up on 06/12/03. The contact with National Moving Network said that my things would be delivered in 7 - 10 days. I waited for a month and called National and they said that CRS (Certified Relocation Services) is responsible and when I called CRS they said that they did not have any contract with me so National is answerable to me.

My stuff was sitting in San Antonio for more than a month and finally they gave my stuff on 07/25/03. They asked me to pay before they unloaded my things. I paid them and later I found out that half my stuff was not there. I asked the truck guys and they asked me to put in a claim form. I did put in a claim form on 07/30/03 and called CRS and they told me that it would take 90 days to process the claim. It's been more than 90 days and they haven't returned my things and when I call them they are saying that they are getting the check ready. Now recently they are hanging up on me or putting my call on hold for more than 20 mins and finally hanging up on me. We lost a lot of valuable items and a lot of baby clothes which my baby cannot wear because she has outgrown them.

Melissa of Bradenton FL (10/10/03):
A continuous moving nightmare. My husband and I relocated to Florida from New Jersey with our 3-year-old daughter hoping to get a better start in Florida since things were so difficult in New Jersey. My husband chose National Moving Networks to help with our move (NMN being a broker who hired Certified Relocation Services to be our movers). So that my husband could get a jump on his job he chose to come down sooner to Florida where I was already and had the movers pickup our stuff.

We used a credit card for the $500 deposit. Were quoted $1,484 for the total cost and owed just $984 at the time of delivery. We were given 4 different delivery dates in a span of 2 weeks which neither of those times did they pick up our stuff. Finally, on the fifth attempt our stuff was picked up. The drivers for CRS called and told us we were over the 3200 lbs quoted to us. That we were 6800 lbs and that we owed them for this and $800 for packing expenses bringing our total to $4800! We fought continuously with the brokers for NMN and got nowhere -- they said it is now the responsibility of CRS yet the brokers hired CRS to move our items. We then notified CRS and told them we would not pay this amount since it was nowhere close to what we were quoted.

The operational manager for CRS (Marcos) told us that he would knock off the $800 packing fee and some money off the extra weight if we paid $2500 in cash. We did not have the extra $1500 due to our moving budget but family offered to put it on their credit card. Then CRS said it would be through a Western Union and we said no. All they wanted was CASH! I offered a company check and they would not take it either yet we had money to pay but they only would start charging more.

They wouldn't give us our stuff and supposedly they put it in storage in Clearwater, FL. They wanted us to meet them there to pay the $2,500 cash but we said no, not unless it was to our door. They said they would be sending us the bill for $4,500 now instead of the $2,500 and all the storage fees. This is nothing but a game to these people. They get possesion of your items and dangle it over your head while they keep trying to see how much money they can get out of you so that you will get your stuff back.

Currently, we are without our belongings which we are told are in storage and we don't know if everything is there or if anything has been damage. Plus, since we have been hanging tough we've only lost $500 in the money department but everything we own is gone for now.

Hala of Bowie MD writes (5/30/03):
I contracted this company for my move from Lewisville, TX to Bowie, MD. I received a estimate quote on 4/21/03, and on May 2nd I signed a reservation form and paid a $400 deposit. The move was set for May 18th, and the estimated time of delivery to Maryland was 5-7 days as stated on the reservation form and verbally. During the time before the move, I called the agent (Brian) several times, he assured me verbally that the move was all set to go on the 18th and that the estimated weight of 3000 lbs for our move was accurate. During the time, I was making decisions about which mover to choose, Brian also assured me that he would beat any price out there, so the total estimate cost was $1260. He also stated that I could purchase supplemental movers insurance through Bakers Insurance, but I discovered that this was not true at all.

Two days before the scheduled move, I received a call that the move could not be done on May 18th and had to be done on the 19th. When I inquired further the reasoning for this, the agent (Dalia) told me that there is a 2 day window for pick-up. I told her that I was not told this verbally by Brian nor was it stated in the reservation form that was faxed to me. After several phone calls, it was finally agreed that the movers would arrive on May 19th between 8am-9am. However, the movers did not arrive until sometime after 1pm on the 19th. At that point we were given the bill of lading and freight bill which had many blank spaces and the movers wanted my husband to complete spaces that stated we had already received our goods. The movers did not seem to speak English very well and may have not understood this point.

Since the 19th, we have yet to receive our items. We have been told several different estimated dates of arrivals with each phone call we have made. I was finally referred to the manager, Segi Pizana, who admitted to me that the agent I had dealt with, Brian, had been fired due to underquoting. He assured me that he would take care of the situation after Memorial Day. Since then he has not returned my phone calls and I have left many messages.

We are sitting in Maryland awaiting our items, and paying for storage space we are not able to use. The reason for our move here was under difficult circumstances, we have a terminally ill infant who has had to undergo surgery in Maryland, so this issue is causing a lot of unneeded stress.
