We had bad dealings with this company in the past and contacted the BBB about them over a year ago. They were supposed to cancel our account and no longer contact us. All this is in the BBB records. Out of the blue they call saying that we owe a bill. I told them that they weren't supposed to be calling anymore and that we owe nothing. Now I get a statement in the mail saying that we owe 494.63.

It seems they did not cancel the account like they agreed apon and they are still calling here. My mother will be 80 years old this year and she has no interest in an internet yellow pages listing. This so-called account is under her name Violet Young, same address and phone number. I am writing this complaint on her behalf.

They are wanting payment for a bill that we do not owe.

While on Marine Corps Recruiting duty in Charlotte, NC, I requested the services of the Yellow Pages to place an add for the Marines. I signed with the understanding that the add would be run for a period of 1 year, and that they would use the design that I provided for the ad this was on Feb 9, 2005.

When they ran the ad using a different design I contacted the sales rep and made it clear that I would not be held liable for payment for a product that I did not request. The sales rep agreed and I was assured at that time that it would be taken care of. I left recruiting duty May 23, 2006. I spent all of 2007 in Iraq, and all of 2008 in Afghanistan. Upon returning to the United States I reported to my new duty station in Virginia and received a bill from the Yellow Pages for the amount of 1,782.00. They have continued to run the ad that I did not request for 4 years.

I have a bill of 1,782.00 which may affect my credit.

I was contacted on 2/5/08 by AT&T Salesman Alan offering a free trial of AT&T advertising services for my new business. He told me that I had over 5 weeks before anything went live to cancel the advertising with no cost to me. I received the ad print on 2/12/08 and did not like the advertising or the contract. I decided to cancel and wrote a letter to AT&T with notification to cancel all services dated 2/18/08.

A few days later Alan left me several voice mail messages saying that he was sorry for my cancellation and to call him if there was anything he could do to keep me as a customer. I answered the phone after about 10 calls from him and told him I was not interested and that my letter stated that point. Two months later I start receiving billing statements from AT&T and I have called them several times to explain, but they do not listen. Now they are bothering me daily via telephone.

They are using up my cellular phone minutes and bothering me throughout the day while I am trying to get work done. This is very frustrating and dishonest of AT&T to try to pull this on me. I want to resolve this issue before it goes to collections.

A sales representative called our retirement community and asked our assistant to confirm our address and phone number. They then asked for her name. A week later, we received an invoice for 494.40 for internet advertising. We have never advertised with this organization nor would we ever.  When I called American Online to clear up this business matter, I was spoken to rudely and was told that they had verbal authorization from our assistant.

I stated that she never authorized this nor did she have the authority to do so. I asked to meet with someone and I was refused. I was told that they would gladly speak to our attorney. They would not give me their attorney information. I ended the call abruptly by stating that we would NOT pay for this unauthorized service and that I would be filing a complaint.

I was called and asked to update my yellow pages ad. I did and they offered a service for 29.95 a month which they say I confirmed, and never did. I know through my phone bill have a charge. Thankfully my phone provider credited me, so these people who admittedly say they are tricking people to sign up will never get anyone else s money.

They charge 29.95 to your regular monthly phone bill
