Scammers Pretend to be from PCH

Consumer Complaints about PCH

Patricia of Fairhaven, MA January 26, 2009

Was sent a sweepstake offer, stating no purchase was necessary. On the right hand side of form was places (4) to put selection of magazines desired. I did not place any stickers there. Below this area was a place that stated that for future help in satisfying customers' needs, to place a sticker that might help them track the popularity of said magazine. I placed a Readers' Digest sticker there, having reread that this was just for future reference; and not to be ordered. I have since received an issue of the Digest with an accompanying bill for almost 17 for a 1-yr. subcription, to be sent by 1/29. This is sheer fraud. Now I am in the process of dealing with Readers' Digest because I actually have an original subscription with them that I purchased for 15 for a 2-year plan.

I am having difficulty straightening out this mess. I surely do not need 2 copies of the digest and cannot afford an additional charge of 17. If I cannot get any satisfaction from either Publishers Clearing House or Readers Digest in rectifying this situation, I will be in touch again.

I 'Tried' to enter the pch contest on line, and after what seemed eternity, it dumped me. Every category, I chose not to receive info or buy anything. I wasn't even sure if the form went through. Now, I'm being bombarded with junk email and I KNOW that they sold me out. I never got junk email until I went to their website. I'm being so tortured by these emails, that I going to be forced to change my address and subsequently inform everyone of my personal contacts of this change. It's just a MAJOR inconvenience!

Catherine of Russellville, KY January 14, 2009

Catherine of Russellville KY (01/14/09)
For weeks I have been playing on the Publishers Clearinghouse Quiz 4 Cash website where you take trivia quizes for points, and after a certain amount of points are acquired, you can spin the wheel for chances at winning the jackpot. After winning the jackpot, I then put in a check request. After waiting from 11-13-08 until 12-31-08 I saw that a check had been cut under my account status. The rules state that you will receive your check within 6-8 weeks after a check request.

It is now 1-13-09, and surprise, surprise, I still have not received my check. I have contacted them by email no less than three times over the last month, and again, surprise, but have to date not received a response. I now see that I will never receive a check or a response from them. This website is just another one of their scams.

I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I realize the Better Business Bureau will not do anything to them, but at least a complaint will be lodged against this supposedly reputable company. It's really sad that you can't trust anything or anyone these days.
