Angela of Fort Campbell KY (7/30/02):
The friend followed instructions. The car was stolen. I have a police email and report that will support this action. The car was found and towed by Benson Towing. In the mean time, Mr. Baker told me and my husband that he will get the car from the towing. He never did. We returned to the US in 2001. I started getting collection letters. So, I called the collection agency to inquire why they were sending these letters to me. The car loan was now in collections. $13,800 or so. I told them this story and they told me they would request information. Well Chrysler never sent any information. So I contacted the Newport News Police department and requested a copy of the Police report. In the email, they gave me the number to Benson Towing. I called Mr. Benson. He said the car was still there and that he had sent certified letters to Chrysler to let them know the car was there. I have the letter on hand. Meanwhile, I called Chrysler financial, and spoke with Mary Beth, and she told me the car was totaled. The letters that Mr. Benson sent was signed by an employee of CF, David Welch. I do not understand how a company can get away with this. They did not auction the car, and bill me for the lesser amount. There has got to be rules that govern even a giant like Chrysler. When I purchased another vehicle, I had to go through the ugly task of being embarrassed about a collection lein. I had to get a loan at a higher rate of 17%. I have been lied to, and it would have been much cheaper for me to get the car out of storage than for me to pay 17% on a used car. My credit is in shambles. And I am afraid that Chrysler will do a judgement on me that will last for the rest of my life. I have not been able to eat properly, or sleep through the night. My husband is currently in Afganistan, and I have to raise our two kids, and deal with this dilemma all alone. I am stressed out. |
