  • Resolution Attempt: Written notice + opportunity to repair to manufacturer.

Update: December 9, 2011

Is your unreliable vehicle in and out of the shop even though you just bought it? Are constant mechanical defects leaving you stranded in the triple-digit Phoenix heat? If this sounds like you, you recently purchased car may be a lemon. Arizona has laws in place to help get you out of your lemon and into a working car.

You should report your car to the manufacturer is your vehicle’s problem substantially impairs the use and value and does not conform to the warranty. There’s a catch, though. Cars are covered under Arizona’s lemon laws for the manufacturer’s warranty, or two year, or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Used cars are covered, but only under the condition that a major component of your car breaks before the earlier of 15 days or 500 miles after purchase.

Often times, after notification, the manufacturer will work to repair the car. However if after 4 attempts, or 30 days out of service, the car’s defect is still present, the manufacturer must accept return of the car or replace it with a new car.
