Consumer Complaints

Clifford of Amite LA (10/31/08)
Attempted to cancel with their live chat (lady typed she couldn't do that, and to call 866-). Sent email on their homepage to please cancel (no response). Called the number many times (unable to get through). Closed checking and credit card. They called me a month later, demanding a credit card number, but I refused to give them my new number. I demanded a mailing address to their management or corporate office. Tech said they didn't do business like that--only credit card numbers were accepted. I still refused to give him my credit card number, and was given another number to call (866-).

This went through in about 7 minutes, and was given the spiel about the new improved free security service, but I said no--cancel immediately and give me an address to mail the check for 9.99. Was given PO Box Carol Stream IL 60197. Be sure and include account number. (I pointed out that I had not used their service for 6 months, and had been unable to get through.)

I also pointed out that People PC was much advertised with AARP, and it was not right to target old people with such a mess as this. Many will simply shrug and pay these parasites to avoid the hassle. Hope this helps someone out there.

60 of unused service/in limbo no knowing what to do but close my banking/MC account, and open a new one. Time lost--at least 5 hours waiting on phone or attempting to resolve issue on-line. Check out their customer service or home page--there was no place to select cancel People PC service. That should have been a warning to begin with.

About June 07, 08 I emailed people pc and told them i wanted my service discontinued. They responded back and said someone would contact me. No one ever did. They kept drafting my account.

On my account statement, the period ending 08/07/08 shows 15.90 drafted. On 09/10/08 they drafted 31.80. For period ending 10/07/08 shows 31.80 drafted. I live on a fixed income and I need my money.

I was driving and called to cancel. They REFUSED. They said they would give me two months free and the third month I would be charged. I told them I wanted to cancel PERIOD. They would not have any of it. Well, sure enough, I forgot to cancel again. I got charged, and called to complain...Ha I was told it was a Volley Charge whatever that is. They tried to get me to take some free antivirus stuff and educational stuff, which is not free either..you get one thing free and then they too charge you if you do not cancel. By accepting the free thing you are under contract to pay monthly. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these people!!!!

10.95 charge to credit card which I am dsiputing despite the fact they said I did not call and cancel during the tow month trial.

People PC contacted me over three years ago wanting me to use their services. So I agreed to try this. A week into it I could not connect> I called theircustomer service line and after 30 min holding they connected me to technical support. At which time they told me I would incurr charges. I told them I did'nt want their help and I hung up. I called, finally got through and cancelled.

Three years later they were still charging my account. I finally stopped payment on my card. At which time they contacted me. They said that I was delinquint in my account and I told them it had been cancelled. They said no it has not. so I once again, cancelled it. They called me three more times trying to bill me. Every time I have said I do not want your service it is lousy and ridiculous. I could never reach them, however they could reach me as soon as they couldn't get their money. They once again haved charged my card again today. I am about to call and retain legal advie . You do the math Three years at 12 bucks a month. That is almost 500 bucks I will never see again.
