I put a stop at the bank because of all the complaints I was reading about here.Acouple days ago I received a letter from a collection agency for 35.27 i HAVE BEEN GETTING CALLS FROM N. C. CO. FINANCIAL SYSTEMS MORNING AND NIGHT.

Tom of Lakewood, CO January 25, 2009
Tom of Lakewood CO (01/25/09) I had received an Email stating that our debit card had expired. Rather than renewing with PeoplePC, I decided to change to a higher speed service so I called and cancelled PeoplePC. I have all of the conversation recorded and it may be of interest to an attorney if a lawsuit is ever brought. They try to be deceptive when you call to cancell. About a week after cancelling I started getting a call from their billing department saying that I owe another 10.95. This conversation is also recorded! I asked them to send a bill so that I could look it over and determine if I owe the money or not. He said we don't send bills and that you must pay by credit over the phone. I said no - they have to send a bill. He kept going on and I finally hung up on him.
He called again and we had the same exchange but he was getting even more forcefull. I hung up on him agian and he called right back. He said In all the time you have been with PeoplePC, how many times have you paid by mail? I said None. But I have never paid by phone either. Now he was even more forcefull and I told him to not call me anymore as all correspondance needed to be done my mail. He then got a bit threatening and said that he would continue to call and I would pay. I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea for him to call again as I too was recording our conversations. He has not called for over 2 weeks as of now.
I will have to check my credit report and more than half expect to be contacted by a collection agency. My adice - don't sign up with PeoplePC. Cancell your auto withdrawl from your bank or card company if you want to cancell. Or close the account and open a new one. Record your conversations with them if possible and legal in your state. I don't know why it wouldn't be legal anyways as one of the first things they tell you is that the conversation may be recorded when you finally get through. There should be an attorney that will go after them to stop these bad practices - and I plan to help the case with my recordings. Contact me if you need them.
So far just harrassment and stress. But it may not be over yet! Stephen of Orland, IN January 22, 2009
Stephen of Orland IN (01/22/09) In June 2008 I requested PeoplePC to cancel my account, because I had switched to DSL. The sales rep tried to keep me on for 4.95/mo, but I refused and request the cancellation. During this time my bank switched credit card companies and gave me a new card & number. I did not receive any notice for payment from PeoplePC nor a phone call.
Today, I received a letter from NCO Financial Systems, Inc. that I had been turned in to their collection agency for non-payment of 17.91 total. I have contacted PeoplePC and they said they would get back with me within 3 business days. We'll see.
Bertha of Arcola, MS January 22, 2009
Bertha of Arcola MS (01/22/09) My debit card expired around August 2008. PPC asked for a new card. Before the card expired, I called them to let them know that I was cancelling their service and changing to AT&T because AT&T had better than dial-up at last for my zip code. Also, I informed them that I had gotten frustrated with their service by not being able to get on or stay on the internet, the slowness of their dail-up service, by reps that knew less than I did, and calls seldom if ever returned. Trying to entice me to stay, they gave me the next month free and assurance that an A-one tech would be contacting me. No one ever did.
When I tried to move my email information from them to AT&T, I could not. Therefore, I called PPC around the second week of January '09. I was informed that my account was closed and in collections. Nothing I said mattered. I was told that the supervisor was out and would return my call in an hour or so. I asked if such big business had only one supervisor. He said all the others were busy. I wanted to hold on. He insisted that someone would call me back that day. No one did. I thought I was entitled to everything I had already paid for before I cancelled. To make matters worse, they are maliciously damaging my credit. I do not owe them. George of Dry Prong, LA January 20, 2009
