NetZero, Juno Merge into United Online

NetZero and Juno tried to make it as free Internet providers but the implosion of Internet advertising put a quick end to that. They then struggled along, trying to provide cheap Internet service. Now they're merged (see story)into something called United Online and are struggling along trying to provide not-quite-so-cheap Internet service under both brand names. Along the way, a few customers have gotten burned. See below.

Netzero debited 30 from my account in September of 2008. A representative of netzero said that I had ordered some services from them on July 17,2008. I did not order anything from netzero. I am currently on a fixed income of 300 dollars a month. I have several health problems to include breast cancer. I am currently waiting for my disability. There is no way that I would order these services. Netzero is also charging me for a security service of 1.95 that I did not order. The only service that I ordered was netzero Internet service for 9.95 a month. This is the only amount that should be debited out of my account. Netzero also debited my account twice for 25 on the same day for using technical support for less than five minutes. What is going on?

Because of these debits, my bank account was overdrawn. I have other automatic drafts comming out of my account. When netzero debited my account without my knowledge, many overdraft charges were assed to my bank account wich left me with an unmanageble bank account. In turn I could not pay my monthly living expenses. I had to go to charitable organizations to help pay my bills.

I do not have the time nor the patience to reiterate my digust with [their] billing proceedures. [They] continue to bill me after I cancelled  inferior service in Feb/, 2008. What does it take to get refund the money that [they] so easly withdrew and to get [them] to STOP billing me for something I do not have? I have referred my complain the the State of Michigan Better Business Bureau .

Caused me 75 worth of overdraft charges.

I signed up for Net Zero DSL in January of this year. I am now in the middle of a divorce. Due to this I had to move. When I got to my new apartment, I tried to set up my DSL. But, I couldn't get online. So, I was called tech support. The answer to my problem was that anytime I change something, such as my address this effects my service. So, even though DSL is offered the five blocks that I moved, I could not connect to my old internet service.

I was forwarded to a customer service rep. I explained my situation, expecting an easy fix. Because I had was on a year contract, I was not allowed to move. My options were to: A) terminate my contract, pay the 150 termination fee, and start a new contract; or B) keep paying my monthly fee, but not be able to get on the internet. Even though I explained my situation (how was I to know that I would be getting a divorce when I signed up for service) they would not budge on their policies. I did not want to cancel my service within that year, I just wanted to continue my service, but at a different address.

I either have to pay 150, or pay 27 a month until January. With a divorce, and a move this is something I cannot afford.

I cancelled our Net Zero internet on April 23 and they continue to put a 4.95 charge on my GM card every month since then. Just what do they think I'm paying for? If they don't stop charging me, I'll cancel my card and open a new one. And will never do business with them again or recommend them to anyone.

I had my netzero account disconnected and am still being charged 7.94 each month for a email I can't even go to. I'm going to call them one more time. I don't have the money to pay for a company like this.
