We have had State Farm Ins forover 30 years. We had a car totaled oin a flood a few about 3 years ago. It was a 2000 mercedes s430 sedan with 30000 miles on it. We had it exactly 1 month to the day it was totaled. Car was immaculate not a scratch. The flood totaled alot of cars in my area so theytoldme instead of taking the car to a benz dealer they were going to take it to a field with all the other cars and have a person from each auto maker come look at the cars there for damages and see how they could be fixed. The water got midway to my dash, filled the car.

They towed it agaisnt me wises to this mud filled field. They called me 2 days later and said ok all my car needs is newcarpet. When the tow truck came he tried to start it which they said not to . It wouldnt and when they hooked a battery charger to it smoke filled the car up. So when the guy told me all it needed was carpet I asked him if he knew it was towed to that field. He said yes. I said well dont you think if all it needed was carpet that I could have driven it to the dealer for that? They lied and didnt look at it. Our car looked pretty clean. They didnt spend any time with it.

When looking at totalsto give us for the car they called me and said we base what we give you on how much a similar car would cost. Remember ours was a 1 owner with 30000 miles. They guy toldme he found 3. One with 80000 miles. Another that wasnt even the samemodel and the 3rd car had 160000 miles on it. I said so you want me to replace my 30000mile car with 1 that has 160000. I told him hewas crazy. Thats NO comparison at all.

They did us soo wrong on that car. WE drive from Tn to Ca ust this past week and got stuck in that ice storm in Oklahoma City. When we finally decided to leave we got stuck behind salt and sand trucksand it tore our front numperup. I called tomake a claim and they said It was my fault and it was like driving down a rocky road. These arent little chips they are almost the size of pennies all over the front bumper. I asked Allstate if I had them and this had happened would it have ben covered and they said yes it falls under comprehensive. Im DONE with state farm. We are canceling everything and going to All State or farmers as son as I fid out which one is good. State Farm is AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our front bumper needs to be painted and thats going to be 1500 bucks. Its pathetic they are doing this to us.

My son's auto insurance was in NC because he was stationed in the Army. He left the military in September and moved to Florida to attend college. On November 24th, his truck was vandalized, he called the NC office and they referred him to an office in FL to set up the claim, which he did. The claim was processed in FL and his truck was repaired. In December, I had contacted my insurance company to see if there would be any savings to put him on my account.

On December 30th he contacted the office in FL to cancel his policy. On January 6th, State Farm withdrew money from his checking account which resulted in overdrafts to his account. He contacted the FL office and was told that he didn't have coverage there and should have called the NC office to cancel the policy back in December. He contacted the NC office and they cancelled his policy but didn't care about the overdrafts and the woman at the office in FL laughed when my son told her that he was on a limited budget and now had no money for food. I spoke with the manager of the NC office and he assured me that the policy was cancelled, yet today he has another withdrawal to his account. I called the NC office on Jan 27th to see when he would receive the check from the first withdrawal and the representative said it would be another two weeks.

His economic consequences are 4 overdraft charges totaling 120.00 and 2 monthly payments totaling 232.72 and we have no idea if this will happen again.

We were shopping for insurance to see if we could combine our home and three cars and get a cheaper rate. We met with State Farm Agent G. Kim on January 20th and provided him all the relevant information for our home and cars. He did the due diligence and checked our driving records online with the Motor Vehicle Admin and gave us a quote. We were told that everything was okay and he charged our credit cards for the premiums. He led us to believe that we were all set and then told us that we can cancel our insurance with the two insurance companies that we had for years. In the following days, we have received documents in the mail, such as the policy documents, booklets, letters to welcome us to State Farm, etc, which led us to believe that everything was fine.

Then on Jan 28th, we got three registered mail that they cannot insure our cars due to a couple of tickets we had two years ago. We have already cancelled our insurance with the other two companies at that time and now we have to re-apply. This whole ordeal was either a fraudulent practice and/or was caused by a total incompetenet State Farm agent. Not only we wasted our time and energy, we also went through a lot of anxiety and agony to have to find new insurance for our cars which resulted in higher premium than before.

We lost many nights of sleep and on top of that, State Farm has charged our credit cards for the full amount of the premiums, totally more than 2000. Even they will return the pro-rated amount, this will take time and this was totally unnecesary if their agent knew what he was doing and could have simply told us that they could not insure us in the first place. We were perfectly covered by our insurance companies before. But now since we cancelled, we need to re-apply and we are getting higher premium quotes than before.

My son decided to attend college in the states rather than overseas where we are stationed. So we found him an apartment in University Place, Wa., and a car plus insurance. After several years of good driving and no accidents and NO BAD CREDIT. State Farm now send a letter stating WE ARE RAISING YOUR RATES DUE TO YOUR BEING A CREDIT RISK? How can a company raise rates based on credit history good or bad? The insurance is for a car and based on drivers habits not spending. Besides his credit history is CLEAN.

I have been a State Farm ONLY policy holder for the past 32 years. I have never solicted quotes from any other insurance company. State Farm seems to have gone from a conservative, highly-regarded company to a fly-by-night, half-baked, non-responsive, it's not my problem its yours company. I have four cars insured by State Farm, 3 Buicks and 1 Chevrolet in addition to my homeowners insurance. The Chevy was donated to Goodwill on 01/07/09 (Title transferred to Goodwill) and they physically took possession on 01/17/09. I dropped the insurance on 01/23/09 and transferred my 19 year old son (he is a 3.83 GPA student at Webster University) who has been a recipient of the State Farm good student discount since he began driving in high school.

After transferring him to the '98 Park Avenue, Mr. W doubled the premium and did not apply the good student driver discount. When I cancelled the Chevy policy on 01/23/09, I called Mr. W's office to cancel the policy and transferred my son to the '98 Park Avenue. In addition, because the staff is utterly incompetent, I personally went into the office after work to verify whether they had correctly made the changes I requested.

So now Mr. Weible has doubled my premium for a solid grade A level student even before I recieved a rebate check for the Chevy insurance no longer in effect. This is only one instance of Mr. W's incompetence. As we paid our premiums for four (4) cars, for a period of time each premium paid was being applied to the '98 Park Avenue ONLY and not the other three (3) cars even though the State Farm payment receipt was enclosed in the envelope. In some instances my wife or I had to hand deliver the payment to Mr. W's office and we had to watch to make sure they made the transaction correctly on the computer as we watched.

They still messed up and wanted to apply the payment to the '98 Park Avenue even though the payment slip identified an entirely different vehicle. As they continually applied payments to the wrong vehicle ('98 Park Avenue)I began getting cancellation notices for the other three (3) vehicles because they inappropriately applied all payments to one vehicle. So for every payment my wife and I made we got rebate checks for an exponential number of payments made to the wrong car, namely, the '98 Park Avenue. I have emailed Mr. W ad nauseum-never any response.

I have called and left messages ad nauseum-never any response. I have visited the office in person ad nauseum-Mr. W is never there. His staff seems to change every time I stop by, which is usually everytime I get a policy bill because they have misapplied the payment or as now they failed to look at Chevy policy that indeed has my 19 year old son on it as a good student driver, this even though we send his grade transcripts at the end of each academic quarter.

My 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was parked legally in front of my house. The street was covered with black ice. The driver of a 1999 Ford Ranger Truck slipped on the ice and hit the front of my car. His auto insurance, State Farm, paid for a rental car for 40 days and paid 5,338.10 in body repairs, including replacing the radiator. However, when it came time to pay 527.18 to replace the steering shaft and the gear shifter, they refused.

The reason given was that these parts in the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu have a history of wearing out prematurely. I was told that I could have the car torn down at a cost of 212 so that the damage from the accident could be seen. I was amazed to think that they could pay for a rental car for 40 days, pay 5,338.19 in body work and not expect that there would probably be some damage to the working components of the car.

I cannot afford the 527.18 to replace the steering shaft and the gear shift. I bought this car as a GM Certified Used Vehicle on August 2, 2007 from Plaza Chevrolet in Chillicothe, Ohio. Their service department is the one who made the estimate. The car had 31,720 miles on it when I bought it and 34,517 miles at the time of the accident, a difference of 2,797 miles. The car ran fine before the accident. I think people should know that State Farm Auto Insurance will not pay for certain components on the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu.

I've always paid in a month adavnce, but when I cancelled my auto policy,I was told by corp, that I would not recieve NO REFUND!

Arlene & John Campbell of Homestead, FL January 23, 2009

We have been with State Farm for over 10 years. We were informed that they were canceling our car insurance because we filed claims that all together total less than one year's premium.

We can't afford to switch companies. I've been out of work all year because of a heart attack, and a knee operation. This decision will cause us to go without car insurance.

Rena of Galveston, TX January 23, 2009

I started an auto policy with State Farm in May '08 at which time I was told if I signed up for the pre-authorized payment plan, I would get a larger discount. I authorized them to draft out a set amount out of my acct. each month, with the clear understanding that no additional funds would be taken out without my authorization. In January '09 they took out an extra 21.00. I contacted the agent and was told that I should have received something from State Farm, at which time I told her that I didn't. She inturn told me that well, you should check with your post office, because I'm sure they sent it.

After a long discussion, in which she turned pretty nasty, she told me that if I went off that pre-authorized plan that I would have to pay two premiums in order to stay with them. I asked her, where was this written in their contact? I got no response. I would like to file a complaint with someone, and don't know who to file it with!

It caused my bank account to become overdrafted, because I have everything carefully regulated in my account, because I have to live by a very strict budget!

My dad is insured by state farm and he lives in ohio. He had an accident in kentucky by hitting a deer, and avoiding the second deer that ran out he wrecked and I was a passenger. I got hurt, this accident happened in kentucky. I was told by state farm that they would cover my medical bills but I was not entitled to pain and suffering because they feel that their insured was not at fault and did everything in his power to avoid it.

All the same I was a passenger in the vehicle and kentucky is a no fault state and even though he is insured in ohio kentucky laws are in play because this is the state the accident occured. So the fact that state farm finds no fault at their insured my father is a inside decision weather or not to charge him on his insurance it does not release him or state farm from liabliity to the passenger's in the car.

I had a job that i was suposed to start that week of the accident. I ended up with my back injured and a bad concussion. I am now in treatment and still not able to work, every day is painful.
