Progressive Settles Rate Quote Complaint

Progressive has an appealing ad campaign and presents itself as a hip, cool and -- for lack of a better term -- progressive insurance company. Maybe it is but the consumers whose comments appear in this section would beg to differ.

A few of the more recent complaints ...

Shaundreacia of Cochran GA (11/24/08)
My 06Nissan Altima was stolen and was placed on fire. I called the police they got my statement then i called progressive. They asked all these questions then they sent a investigator named David Bradley. Me and my boyfriend was asked numerous of confidental questions. He was asking us questions as if me and my boyfriend was the criminals. He interviewed all of my witnesses and we were asked to provide alot of confidental paperwork that we felt was irrelevant to this case. We felt like we wre being disciminated against.

I had rental coverage on my car insurance they didn't provide me with a rental they told me I had to pay and when they finish the claim they would reimburst me but i didn't go for it. While the investigation was going on my boyfriend continued to pay car insurance. Then once they do everything they say they wasn't going to pay for my car. My insurance was always paid on time NEVER late. In order to cancel the insurance you have to pay a 50 fee. Progressive is a rip off please do not get this insurance they don't like to pay for things.

Me and my boyfriend will have to pay for a vehicle for 5yrs that i don't even have

OUR 2004 Buick died and when we took it to a GM mechanic he stated that the engine had water and sand in it which he said came through the intake. Progressive did an oil sample and says that their lab can show that it was just poor maintance of the oil and air filter regardless of the oil changes and filter changs we had done.

A rebuilt engine will cost us over 3,000.

I was in a 4-car pile-up caused by a woman insured by Progressive Insurance (I'm not!). The damage to my Honda Odyssey was on both front and rear bumpers. The rear bumper has damage to the support behind it. Progressive wants to replace these important safety related parts with non OEM parts. I insist on OEM. I'll see you in court Progressive!

Progressive refuses to pay for OEM parts. I think it is my right to have OEM parts, because of the safety issue and because of the depreciation value on a car with aftermarket parts.

Like Nathan from Rigby, ID, while shopping around for new insurance this past week I found out Progressive has me under their high risk insurance underwriter (Progressive Northwest), even though my wife and I have a clean insurance history.

My new insurance quotes are higher than progressive's, and higher (400/year higher for 2 cars with full coverage) than what the company (in this case, Allstate) could offer had I not been with Progressive now, since Allstate is rating me higher risk due to my past history with Progressive.

It was explained to me that they though Progressive does this to get a long term customer, since they know that no one else can match their rates once they have a customer hooked on their cheaper but viewed as high risk plan. Consumers beware to stay away from progressive's unfair business tactics. I'm switching on Monday...

I switched to progressive for a cheaper rate in July. On the 2nd day with progressive I had the first wreck of my life and totaled my car, and it was my fault. Three days later I had a check from progressive that was a couple hundred more then my car valued at on kelly blue book. The only reason I am posting this now is because I had a horrible experience with allstate that is still ongoing from my parked car getting hit by one of their insured.

I was in great hands dealing with progressive. allstate is fraud at best. Choose insurance wisely.
