Nationwide Cancels 39,000 More Homeowner Policies

Ben of Kirkwood MO (04/03/09)
My 21 year old daughter was rear-ended at a red light by a large dump truck. The rear end of her SUV was smashed in and she was pushed into the intersection. She suffered back and neck pain as a result.

They did a quick valuation of the vehicle and determined how much it was worth. There is NO WAY we could replace the car with one for the amount they awarded us. They came up a hair, but no where near what they needed to and basically said that was all they could do. They would only give us a few days of rental car.

I had an automobile accident 12/23/08. Nationwide has refused to pay my loss wages. The accident was not my fault and my automobile was totaled. I got a letter from my doctor that requested they pay my loss wages since he stated that I was not to work or lift anything until he released me. I am having to pay all my bills, ambulance, emergency room, hospital, doctors, etc... They have flatly refused to pay any loss wages. What can I do?

After 15 months, the adjuster will pay only my medical out of pocket expenses and 1700 for any future problems that I have have due to the accident. They refused to pay and loss income. I was hit so hard that it totaled my car and was not able to work. I did what the adjuster for Natinwide ask for. My employer gave papers showing my loss income, my doctor sent a letter stating that I should not work or lift over 5 pounds and Nationwide still refuses to pay for loss wages. Are they any laws in North Carolina regarding loss wages and if an insurance company does not have to pay for loss wages?

Idarmy of Miami FL (02/27/09)
I have a car Loan with this comapny that I pay about 280.00 a month for a car. I was behind on two car payment. On 2/23/09 I had my car repossed and I never received any phone calls to pay up or any letter at home, Other times I been behind and I have received letters at home to pay up, but this time I didn't received anything at all.

When they repossed my car on the early morning of the 2/23/09 I went to there office in Davie, Fl and called numerours of time to retrive my personal property on 2/23/09 and couldn't get thru on 2/24/09 Jennifer from the office of Auto Fianance company called me and gave me the information to retrive my personal property and I asked her what I had to do to get my car back. I even offer to pay the balance off and she still have not given me an answer on this issue and I told her that it was not fair that I ended up paying for Monday storage of my personal property when they where not answering there phone on 2/23/09 but the repo company told me that was not there problem.

I'm trying to get answer on how to recover the car and for three days still they won't answer my calls or message left at the office. So I don't know who to relay on.

Shirley of Columbia, SC February 14, 2009

Shirley of Columbia SC (02/14/09)
My 1998 Toyota Camry was stolen due to a breach of contract between me and the potential buyer of the vehicle. I filed a police report after I could not reach the buyer. The car was recovered with major damage and was towed by Keisler, LLC where the vehicle was repaired. Ms. Fidler assessed the damage for approval to be repaired by Keisler, LLC. She said the vehicle did not have enough damage to total out and that it was repairable. The vehicle has damages such as; alterations to the (stick-shift), radio torn out, there is a wire hanging from the steering column to start the ignition. She refuses to pay for the repairs because she says in her word that the vehicle was altered and it was not vandalized.

My vehicle has 3 addtional keys, 1 to open the trunk and 2 to start the engine. I am not pleased with the out come of the service I received from Nationwide. The vehicle still have damage that I would have to pay out of pocket in order to get the vehicle restored.

Josephine of Steling, VA February 11, 2009

Josephine of Steling VA (02/11/09)
On January 01, 2009 I had the misfortune to be rear ended after contacting nationwide insurance our claim was forwarded to Mr. J. Allonson a designated adjuster. I waited 2 days to receive a response from him to make an appointment to see the car and assess the damage. But because the car is an essential tool in our life and to have this done in a timely manner we toke the car to a MAACO body shop and we received an estimate for the repair for 777.73 for replacing the rear Bumper and pulling the quarter blind and painting, after we visited with Mr. Allonson we found that he ignored or hes unqualified to assess damages of this nature which is pulling the quarter/ Blend even do the gap is very noticeable between the two sides of the car,

I called Mr. Jason and made him aware of this discrepancy, and his answer was that we can meet at the repair shop and he will authorize the extra repair. On Monday 02/09/09 more than a week after he made the first assessment I call him to let him know that I m ready to take the car to the shop, and I would like to meet with him, but his answer was that he doesnt have time that day and I can take the car to the shop and hop that the shop calls him if not than he will not be able to see the car, I suggested to meet him at the shop at his convenience and I took a day off my job, but he still refused to meet with me.

Nationwide promised me an adequate repair for my car for the damage that was caused by the policy holder with Nationwide insurance, only for me to find myself in a situation where the repairs were not made and the problem still exists. Im asking you to review my case and autorize this basic repair, Im not able to use a rental because Im used to my car and I need this done ASAP.

I expect this situation to be corrected with utmost haste by having my car repaired by authorizing the remaining 332.05 otherwise I will be forced to contact the proper authority to get compensation for the damage done to my car, the time wasted and inconvenience. And I would like to register my complain against Mr. Allason for a complete lack of service and professionalism.
