On December 3, 2011, I was side swiped by an individual insured by Mendota Insurance. The local police surveyed the situation and due to the minor nature of the accident, did not file a report as is the standard procedure in Texas (this needs to change). On 1/20/12 a Mendota Representative sent me a letter claiming me as responsible "when your vehicle squeezed in between our insured's vehicle and the sidewalk." This seems like quite a feat of physics as my vehicle is a half ton truck and the Medota Insured drove a full-sized van and contact was not made until the side view mirrors hit (front 1/4 of the vehicles). This company needs to have their license revoked.

On 02/25/11, my insurance policy was increased for initial payment of $120.69. The company did not notify me of increase in policy. And there was no signed agreement to this effect. I signed up with GEICO on 02/27/11. And I cancelled with Mendota on 02/28/11. The $120.69 charged on 02/25/2011 was meant for period of 02/25/11 to 03/24/11. However, because I was not formally informed of increase in policy, I had my insurance cancelled with Mendota on 02/28/2011.
I later received a renewal notice on 03/05/11, after the cancellation request was processed. I contacted Mendota to receive a refund from period of 02/28/2011 through 03/24/11. To my surprise, out of $120.69, which was charged for a whole month period of 02/25/11 through 03/24/2011, a refund check of $45.18 was issued to me (check was not cashed). In anger and frustration, I contacted Mendota to inquire why I was given only $45.18 out of $120.69. They claimed there was a $60 fee which is not refundable.
I took the claim up with my bank. The charge was refunded. Mendota's claim that I should show a proof that I obtained insurance from another insurance is not valid due to the following reasons: I was not notified in writing of increase in policy, nor there was any agreement signed for consent. I was not aware of an increase in policy before renewal. I had no reason to sign up with another company since I was not aware of an increase in my policy, and I was not notified. Mendota claimed there is $60 fee charged because I cancelled after renewal. However, I did not receive renewal or increase in policy notice until 03/05/11, after I have called to cancel my policy. This makes the claim $60.00 fee invalid.

Two months ago, while I was stopped at a red light, another motorist drifted from oncoming traffic and hit my car head on. She admitted fault to police, all stories from parties involved and witnesses were the same. Although she insisted, she was insured, she could not locate her insurance info.
She was cited and both cars were towed. Several days, following the accident, I received a call from her insurer, Mendota Insurance. The agent stated that their insured had filed a claim and after another week or more an appraiser was sent. The agent next called to inform me that my car is totaled, yet before a settlement could be made she needed to speak with her insured or obtain the police report.
To help speed up the process, I went to the police station and purchased the report and promptly faxed it to the agent. I have not heard from the agent since. My insurance company agent has contacted me (I only have liability coverage/U.M. up to $3500) to tell me that the agent from Mendota is saying that they are still waiting to hear from their insured and if they can not contact her they will be forced to deny the claim due to non cooperation of their insured.
After hearing this, I got in contact with the driver insured by Mendota and asked her to call the agent in charge of the claim. I explained the situation to her and she was very apologetic. She told me that when she made her claim, the agent she spoke with kept asking her if she was sure it was her own fault and if there was any way it may not have been.
She told the agent, she was definitely at fault and the agent told her that they would get in touch with her should any problems arise. She says, she hasn't heard anything since but told me she would contact Mendota and cooperate in order to have this resolved. I still have not heard from Mendota again. My calls are not returned. I call and requested to speak with a supervisor and they told me the supervisor would call me back, but she has not. My car is totaled. I was left with a $500 tow bill.

On October 15, 2010, my parked truck was hit by a driver insured with Mendota Insurance. It took a week for the company to send someone out to do an estimate on the damage. During this week, while trying to talk to my adjuster, I was hung up on twice by receptionists, and was told that I could not talk to a supervisor. The adjuster told me that they would reimburse me for a rental up to $30.00 per day but I had to incur the cost first and they would just reimburse me. Let's see, I'm parked, not even in my truck, and I need to pay for my own rental? A maximum of $30.00 per day? You can't even rent a Renault for that! So now, I have been out of work for a week, as this was my work truck and the body shop says that it will be two weeks more! This is truly the worst company that I have ever dealt with and I have already hired a lawyer to sue.

On May 15, 2010, I was hit head on by Mendota's insured driver. I promptly turned in the claim the next business day. The local business office was open first thing in the morning and took copies of pictures of the accident for their records. They gave me the number to call Mendota and I promptly called them. They wanted my insurance State Farm to pay the claim and after researching this, I was not comfortable filing it on my insurance as it was their insured's fault.
I told them to send their representative as I would not make my insurance pay for their driver's damages. The claim representative was very mad and rude about this and I have had trouble with them on every issue. They would not get me a rental. I had to lease a small truck from a neighbor with an extra vehicle to even have something to drive for a month and finally had to have my lawyer call them to even get a rental after the small truck I had leased has some issues due to it being an older truck.
We are regulated to have insurance. Well, who makes these companies pay? I and most people can't be out of pocket on a rental until they decide to pay a claim or not! I even had to purchase and fax the accident report to them from AST because they kept using that excuse for the delay. My truck is still not complete since this company is not responding. You may call and call but no response from them and then they would try to get out of paying the rental until the vehicle is repaired due to the negligence of their company.
When they did issue the funds, it was for 1/2 of the costs of the repairs. They still have not reimbursed me for the lease vehicle expense or my out of pocket storage costs for the vehicle sitting at the body shop waiting on the adjusters. Every issue has been a problem then I got a call from the car rental's place and that I have this huge rental bill as they quit paying for the rental. I still have not got a return phone call from this company! Please help so that no one else have to go through this.

I purchased Ins from Mendota, on that same eve my car was stolen, and was involved in two hit and run incidents. Mendota denied my claim, because I did not add my brother on my form. My brother was homeless. I told them that he stay with me sometimes, and with my sister at another address. I sent them all the police report, because he was arrested that same night, and presently still in jail waiting sentence. I told them that he got his mail at my house, as well as my sister's. I still have mail of the people that use to live in my house. Was I also to put their name on my policy, because mail come to my home? My car was a total loss. My brother had no permission to drive my car, because he had no license, and he is legally blind, but they said that I should have put him on my policy. Also, they cancelled my insurance with them. My car was totaled, and I am being sued by the people that he hit.

I was hit from behind while visiting Tucson, Arizona on 12/31/2009. The guy at fault was insured by Mendota Insurance Company. I reported the accident to them the next day. I was contacted by the adjuster within a week regarding the accident during which time I asked about a rental car. I was told that a maximum of $40 per day would be compensated and to keep track of the receipts. While my car was not drivable, I was able to get rides in order to mitigate damages. I was called a few days later and told that an appraiser will contact me regarding my car. I was not contacted but received a letter (within the week) with a valuation for my car based on its condition and the "Fair Market Value."
The valuation contained many errors including: prices for cars that were not currently for sale were used in the valuation, cars being sold in other cities (greater than 75 miles from my zip code) were used, a car that was under priced (the dealer quoted $500 higher) was used, a car that had more than 60,000 miles more than mine was used, two cars that were being sold by fake dealers (phone numbers not reachable and no names) were used, cars with a different style (GLE vs GXE) were used, loss of use was not included in the valuation, the mileage bonus and average mileage of my car were calculated incorrectly, and most DMV fees were missing.
I compiled a demand letter containing my own independent research from sources such as autotrader.com and the environmental protection agency and sent it to the adjuster. However, my research was simply ignored. I was told by the adjuster that they do their own research using their own company and that she will not look at my research. Furthermore, the adjuster claimed that she never told anyone that the maximum rental price allowed was $40 per day(she quoted $20 instead), and that I was only entitled for Loss of Use for 2 weeks since I did not accept the original settlement (apparently it's my fault that I didn't accept their original bogus offer).
When I asked the adjuster about details of both the original valuation as well as my own independent research, she simply ignored me on the phone repeating,"We have our own company that does the research." She admitted that she has not looked at my research and when I asked to talk to her manager was told that her manager "is out today and that the manager will only refer (me) to (her)." I have since contacted the adjuster again and sent numerous emails. So far there has been no response. I asked for the contact information of the adjuster's manager and again there was no response. If I do not get a response from Mendota Insurance soon, I will be forced to file an official complaint with the Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Department.

After some research and to everyone who might want to know, the statue of limitation says that 2 years is the limit in which you can present a case to an insurance on property damage. No $$ was being asked of Mendota and entire case collapsed. Of course, the 1st time we went to court, I was ignorant of the statue of limitations and of course, the 2nd time we went to court (when I had every darn document to show on my favor), the new judge said I was being sneaky, was trying to go around stuff to gain $$$ - if she'd only bother to check EVERY freakin' page of Mendota's insurance declaration package which show their "typographical error" - admited in writting by Mendota's attorneys in L.A.
I am still paying doctor bills, shop bills and such as punishment for not having insurance at time of accident. Mendota's error went overlooked - for now.

we are the lienholder of this vehicle. The customer was insured with this company at the time of the accident. They did not want to pay us the balance that the customer owed or even help us resolve the case because they say that they do not know if the customer was the one driving or not. The case is that the customer did not have a florida license but they went ahead and insured him anyway. I do not understand why they did not cover the accident since he was insured. They do not want to work with us and never return our calls.

I was in an Auto accident involving a person Insured with Mendota Insurance. I was assigned a claim number, and given an agent and phone number for her, but she never answers the phone (always voicemail) and does not return voicemail messages left. I have yet to be able to find out if the other party actually is insured (under investigation according to a letter I received ) or what the progress is on the claim. An adjusted did come out and evaluate my vehicle, but it is now a over a week later and no contact with me has been made to even advise what the estimate of damage is.
It is hard to settle a claim when you can never talk to anything but voicemail.

I was involved in an auto accident with one of Mendotaa's insured drivers. This happened in July of 2005. I received an estimate on 08-05-05. I have left numerous messages for Ms. Cosgrove, however, have only spoken with her twice since receiving the estimate. I have repeatedly tried to give them my correct mailing address if they would prefer reaching me by mail, they have both my cell and home telephone numbers and my email. They claim they are unable to contact their insured, while I understand that presents a problem for them, I would like to know that my claim is being handled responsibly and not being ignored until the time has run out for my to fix my car. I would go and have someone fix the damage to my car, but I am not confident Mendota will cove the cost. I can and may have to use my own insurance in order to get this taken care of, I just think they have a responsiblity to me or at the very least to at least respond to my calls and emails.
