Save up to $379 on Your Auto Insurance. Compare Quotes from Top Providers Now! Find the Best Deal and Apply! - Adv. Pam of Clermont, FL July 21, 2009 I had traded in my car for a 2008 and had called Allstate to get prices. I also knew that I was up for renewal and wanted to get rates. I was first quoted by Kelly at 700 something for insurance and I told her that I wanted to check around. She said to let her check also and she would get back to me. I talked to her again and I was quoted 663.00. I decided to stay with Allstate since I had been with them for a couple of years. Anyway, I had to give them a payment of 110 on the 5th of June even though my payment was not due until the 19th to get that rate. I did and then a couple weeks later I received in the mail a new payment form. Instead of being charged 110 a month I was being charged 124 the 2nd month and 111 each month after. I called and the response I got was that they had to carry some money over on the new policy. I decided then to get a new insurance carrier. I signed up with Progressive on the 16th of July and immediately called Allstate and talked to Ashley. She told me I couldn't cancel until I sent her proof of my new insurance company. Immediately I faxed her not once but twice that I wanted the insurance canceled immediately and the proof of insurance. When I talked to her I asked her twice if I would be charged anything else and she assured me that I would not be. I never heard anything so on the 20th I called her and asked if my insurance had been cancelled and she said yes and that I would be getting a refund of 75. This morning I went on line and was charged the 124 and since I didn't put enough money in this account I was charged overdraft of 66.00. She misled me as did Kelly. I called Allstate this morning and talked to someone and they told me that the Senior management would have to look at this and get back to me in 24 to 48 hours as they were not able to help me. DO NOT TRUST THIS GROUP of individuals. Michael of St. Augustine, FL July 18, 2009 In Feb 2009 I purchased auto insurance from my local AllState agent and got what I thought was a great rate of 350/6mo. I paid it in full up front. In march I sold the car I originally insured and purchased one of my company vehicles. I immediately went to the AS office and they swiftly changed the insurance to cover the vehicle I just purchased. At no time did I have two vehicles that needed insuring. Skip ahead 20 days or so and I start getting letters from AS, one of which was a request that I go to their branch office and provide proof of prior insurance. I did eactly what they asked despite the fact that I had already provided "said" proof when I originally purchased insurance from them (I don't see how I would have gotten a policy otherwise). I went to the local office, showed them proof of my prior insurance coverage and they told me that everything was okay - no worries. The next two letters I got from them went unopened because AS has been flooding my mailbox with solicitations for me to buy their other insurance policies. As far as I was concerned, the next letter I need to open would be the bill for the next 6mo of coverage. Fast forward to July 17th. I call the local office to find out if they had sent me a bill, only to have them tell me that my policy had been cancelled effective June 5th 2009. They also informed me that a check had been sent to me from AS back in April for the amount remaining on my policy after cancellation. Suffice it to say I was stunned. I went to the office and they basically said that I failed to supply proof of prior insurance, although they have records of me providing it. I figured this had to be a simply misunderstanding because my driving record is completely clean and I payed the first 6mo upfront. I then offered to buy a new policy while we straighten out what happened with the old one. They informed me that a new policy would be 900/6mo. I went home and found the two pieces of mail from AS. Mailing #1 (sent on 04/07/09) informed me that they adjusted my policy up by 45 and that I had to make a payment by 04.25/09. Mail #2 (sent on 04/20/09) was the 110 check informing me that my policy was cancelled. How in the hell can they cancel the policy before the due date? No one in the local AS office could answer a single question about this affair other than to say that AS corporate did not accept my proof of prior insurance. aida of saint petersburg , FL July 17, 2009 I cancelled my insurance policy but allstate still took 182 dollars from my account and now they are saying that they need a month to refund me. Ronald of Covington, GA July 10, 2009 I was involved in a small auto accident. The investigating officer's report stated the other driver was clearly at fault. Allstate, after considerable delay, refused the claim without reason. Paula of Silver Spring, MD July 10, 2009 About a month ago I had an accident. I backed into my son's car in the driveway. I called the next day and put a claim into the insurance company. They gave me two claim numbers, one for my son and one for me. I went to the adjuster's office and received a check for my car, which I took and had my car repaired. My son took his car to an adjuster in Baltimore where he lives, and they did not hand him a check, but said there check machine was broken, and they would mail the check. So that was a few weeks ago. On July 12, I called my agent to find out why my son did not receive his check. She informed me that his car had liability insurance only and that he would not be getting a check to fix his car. Since I was the one who hit his car and I have full coverage for the accidents that I created, I do not understand how it is not covered under the policy. Susan of Lompoc, CA July 2, 2009 Our auto insurance was raised when we were in the fifth month of six. We were not in any accidents nor did we get any tickets. Allstate advertises that your insurance goes down when you have a good record. This is faust advertisement. We went in over a month ago to let them know we were changing banks and not to draw money out of if. they did it anyway and cost us 33.00 Gregory of Palm Coast, FL June 30, 2009 Been with Allstate just under a year. After not having a chargable accident in at least 40 years, had to file a claim last Sept, when my car was acting up and I didn't make it across a busy street, and got t-boned. The premium on my car (we have 2 cars with them) went up 37 a month. OK. Fine. Problem is we have had a hard time keeping up with the premiums and have been late a few times, but always caught up. This time we got late by 60 days and they canceled us, but didn't terminate us. I was told by the useless agent (that I never picked, isn't local, and only called if my payment was late) that the policy was canceled, but not terminated, not for another 5 days. 3 days before the termination date we came up with the past due, the previous month plus the current month. Problem is, we made a split payment, part credit card, part check-by-phone. Well, they applied the credit card payment, alright, and got their previous month's premium, but they screwed around and didn't post the check-by-phone for 3 days, until it was too late for 'reinstatement'. In the mean time, I am on the phone constantly, first with the agent, who never called back with any information, as they kept promising, and then Allstate's customer service. Finally I got a hold of one of Allstate's senior supervisors, who looked at the timeline and said we paid, alright, qualified for reinstatement, and should not be terminated. All this time we are driving with no insurance, and getting no information or callbacks. The supervisor tells me that we qualify for reinstatment, based on the fact that we did indeed pay the entire amount, 3 days before termination date, but Allstate dragged their feet and made sure the second part of our payment (check-by-phone) didn't post for 3 days. Sure enough, I finally get 3 pieces of mail from them, all sent 1 day before termination date, one saying we were canceled (duh, we knew that), one saying we were terminated (same date, 2 days after our payments, and 1 day before the termination date), and a refund check, all dated the same time, 1 day before termination date and 2 days after our payment attempts. No one EVER called back as promised and let us know the status, I finally got a hold of the agent (senior supervisor at Allstate), who had promised also, to call, who let me know that they denied the reinstatement request, supposedly because the entire pas due was 'not made on time'. I have a confirmation number on both payment methods, the credit card and the check-by-phone, and even THEIR timeline shows they were made the same day, but Allstate conveniently posted the one (got their past due premium), and conveniently didn't post the second part, which would have prevented the termination (or at least, got a reinstatement). Of course, we have been 'invited' to apply for a new policy, going through all the crap necessary, including physicals on the cars, and at least 25% higher premiums. And, there is no guarantee that we would even be accepted. Don't tell me they didn't post the balance of our payment until too late, in order to drop us. SHARYL of EAST POINTE, MT June 29, 2009 On April 3, 2009 My vehicle was stolen. I filed a police report same date. I filed a claim with Allstate same day. The vehicle was recovered by the police on April 22, 2009. To date my claim is still outstanding. No one from Allsate will contact me back with status. Allstate is the worst insurance company. You're already fill violated when someone steal your vehicle that you worked so hard to make payments. Then Allsate makes you feel like a criminal. They have no problem in taking your premium payments, but there is a problem when you need to make a claim. SHARYL of EAST POINTE, MT June 29, 2009 On April 3, 2009 My vehicle was stolen. Aaron of Auburn Hills, MI June 25, 2009 I lost my motorcycle and allstate was my insurer. I have had a hard time contacting about my claim and it's been 58 days and I am being told that it should be solved soon, same thing I was told a month ago. Everytime I call it's just how they have to get reports. It's getting really annoying and it has yet to be solved. I am thinking of driving up to thier office building until my settlement is solved.
