Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Someone rang my door bell and as I don't make a habit of opening it for anyone I don't know, I asked who it was. He mumbled a name that I couldn't make out. I said What can I do for you? He raised his voice and indignantly said Through the DOOR?, in a loud voice. I said Exactly. He stood on my porch and kept repeating things to me like Lady I hope things get better for you, I really do. I asked him to leave my porch and he continued with the same thing several times until I told him I wanted him to leave my property. I felt his manner was threatening and I called the police. They are canvasing the neighborhood and keeping an eye out for the truck.

A young man approached our residence, with a clearly posted No Soliciting sign, gave us some song and dance about being in the area for a delivery but unable to find the location, and tried a very hard sell spiel on us to buy steak.

When told no, our family has no interest in buying any steak, he kept pressuring us, asking if we were vegetarian, etc., in an effort to somehow make a sale.

(FWIW, we generally don't eat red meat, nor large portions of meat, and have no meat storage freezer because our family simply doesn't require one. If we were to buy a large quantity of meat, we simply wouldn't even know where to put it.)

He then said he'd try some of our neighbors, but he and his companion drove off up the street instead of trying other nearby houses. That looked even more suspicious to us, because now there was blatant dishonesty involved.

I called the police immediately after he left, reporting the truck's license and contact info, because the experience was so bizarre and shady-seeming.

Palo Alto requires by law that anyone selling door to door must have a legal permit to do so or face arrest - this young man showed us no permit. In addition, the law requires that a posted No Soliciting sign be honored. The police officer asked if we'd be willing to make a citizen's arrest for unlawful solicitation if these guys were apprehended, and we unequivocally agreed. Unfortunately, the last view I saw of the truck was as it was high-tailing it off in the direction of Mountain View after I informed the driver that door-to-door solicitation without a permit is illegal in this town. (Dang, maybe I gave him too much information. :p)

I run my own company. In my book, random unrequested door-to-door solicitation and high-pressure sales tactics = hallmarks of a fly-by-night company. If they are remotely legit, this company should be severely reprimanding these employees by now if not firing them, instead of considering these acceptable business practices.

Did not get the quantity of meats I payed for.Scam Way overpriced.

Had to pay to cancel my check. They can come back and pick up their meat which was mainly chicken and fish.

I had already purchased delicious T-bones from another company that I had mistakenly thought was Prime Selection.I purchased a whole box of 22 pounds for 85$ so I was expecting better meat at $189-$389 box when I was told that Prime Selection had a higher grade of meat. The T-bones tasted like cardboard.... and they were very tough (which is still hard for me to bleeive as how can they get people to reorder when the meat tastes no better or worse than you would get fressh from the grocer.)

I called and talked to Dave Mccoy whose secretary pretended to be the manager as I'd asked for. She refused to listen to what had happened. I told him that in spite of the fact that their meat deliverer put my 2 boxes of meat in an unchilled freezer with too little dry ice, and that I had to eat 3-4 boxes of meat that was unthawed, that I still had no intention of cancelling my check, until i tasted how bad it was. Then mr. mc/coy berated me with the small print. Te small print that you are never warne about says that you must cancell the transaction before midnight of the third day or you have no recourse to the moneyback guarantee.

I had misunderstood the cancellation to mean cancellation of my check. After flavor/texture, I was sure that I did not want to give up my right to the refund. When I called I was spoken to in a very unproffessional manner, in fact,I felt like I was dealing with the Mob.today is a Saturday;I asked if I had until Monday to give my cancellation. I was informed that Saturday was a business day and that the refund option would be nullified by midnight Saturday. So, today I went to the post office and barely made getting a postmark.

Luckily I also got the name the clerk that I handed it to....

in any case these guys are con-artists and the customer is never right. they should tell you that the moneybacl guarantee is limited to three days and it is the hard line lack of concern for the customer and the lack of advance warning regarding how to handle problems that makes me want to look elsewhere for my family's needs. they establish their business with people who have too much money or are too lazy to care and i feel that the rest of you should know which is why I bothered to write.

We ordered meat from Prime Selection Meat twice. The first time that we ordered meat we had great service and great meat and no problems. The meat was wonderful and the best we had tasted and was quality meat. Then we ordered a second batch of meat and wrote two checks to go through our checking account at two different times. The first check went through the account early so the money was not available yet.

Then on January 2nd Doug Small came to our house and began yelling in our window and then pounded on the door and asked if we had some cash for gas. We gave him 150 dollars in cash which would have covered the check that did not go through. My room mates and husband were here and he said thanks he would report it turn the money in and give us some free steaks.

He left and then on Janurary 6th 2004 at 1000pm at night Doug Small returned and began yelling in the window and our room mate answered the door and he demanded more money. He told our room mate he had no gas again and wanted him to pay for the same check again. Our room mate told him he had no money and would not give him any if he did because we had already paid for the check.

Doug Small was rude and had no consideraiton for our privacy at night and we also have young children that were sick at the time to. If I understand right Doug SMall should not have asked us for the money from the check not going through. I believe Prime Selection Meat would have contacted us and let us know if it did not go through. My husband and I also checked our bank account and there was also no returncheck fee for the check he was trying to get money out of us for.
