Lia Sophia

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Yes, I am a male posting here. I was very skeptical about this whole thing my wife was getting involved in, and I have been keeping a close eye on what is going on. Most of the complaints I have read here are either you lost your receipt, which is a company policy and a good advisor will tell you you must keep it in order to turn in any complaints. Or you had a bad advisor. It seems to me the advisors who took the money and ran should be held accountable, not the company.

I have watched my wife deal with new customers and past customers, and so far, she has had no problems. No, this jewelry is not top-of-the-line solid silver or gold, but it is still nice stuff. You have to know how to take care of your stuff. I have not seen all the items first hand, but I think I have seen enough to get an idea of what it is like. I am sure, just like with any other product, you will get a dud or two.

I have watched the return procedure, and it seems to work as long as you follow the rules as with any other internet-based business. One of the only places you don't need a receipt is Wal-Mart. So go buy your jewelry there and tell your friends you got it at Wally World and see how that flies!

If you had a shady advisor, don't wait, file charges against them. If you lost your receipt, tough luck for you. If you got a bad piece of merchandise, contact your advisor or her manager to see what can be done. If you don't know your advisor, maybe you need to pay more attention when you spend money. I am not saying Lia Sophia is 100% innocent here, but so far, we have had no problems.

Well after reading all the negative comments on here I guess my complaining is not going to work either! These people ought to rethink what you sell because it is all expensive junk! I received a necklace for Christmas and it is all tarnished after 5 times but I see that on all these complaints, it's the same thing over and over again and then they are trying to blame the customers for the junk they sell. Then no one wants to stand behind them and do the right thing. All they are concerned with is the receipt, and yes you can return something at Wal-Mart or JC Penney without a receipt. Let's be serious here, they should not have to have the receipt to return these items, and what happens if it is a gift, they should give them the receipt to.

I purchased a necklace several years ago. The clasp was defective after a few wearings to the point that I tried to wear it and it fell off twice during that day. I was told that Lia Sophia has a lifetime warranty on their products but that you must provide the receipt for the purchase. Well after several years, I no longer have the receipt. I mean really, who keeps their receipt for this type of purchase indefinitely? So I mailed the necklace with a letter back to Lia Sophia explaining the circumstances. They did respond but in order for them to do anything, they needed to "find the purchase in their system."

In my mind, lifetime warranty means just that a customer should not have to provide the who, what, when, why, etc. of a purchase and prove it. The best I could do was provide the name of the hostess of the party so that's what I did. That wasn't good enough so I received a reply that, "As a one time courtesy, they may be able to give me a $12 gift certificate." But don't forget about the $5 handling charge. No, thank you. The necklace isn't that important to me. I am done with that company.

In a nutshell, I spent $100 on two pairs of simple earrings and a nice looking necklace. The necklace broke on the second wear and the earrings broke after several wears (hoop clasp became non-functional and the gold started to fade). I will not pay the $5 per piece replacement fee because that is what they should cost in the first place and I will not give them any more of my money. This company is a scam. They tout the jewelry to be of the highest quality, but instead of spending money on the product, they pay celebrities to sell out and endorse the product. Oh well, lesson learned.

I purchased items at a party and qualified for one item at 50% off. I was told that I could use the 50% off on the most expensive item. I chose a necklace that was just over $100. Within the first month, the silver started turning copper-colored. I contacted Lia Sophia about replacement of the necklace because I really loved the style of it.

I was informed that they would not replace it and that I would only get credit for the 50% that I paid and that I could use that to put towards replacing it. I would have had to turn in that credit and pay out an additional $55. Since I was not trying to get a different item, only replacing a defective one, why should I have to end up spending over another $50 to replace it and take the chance that it will discolor again? They make it sound like a great return policy, but it ends up not being the case. I will never purchase from Lia Sophia again. What a scam!

I followed the instructions to exchange two necklaces that I purchased a year ago. I decided after that long of a period of time that I will probably not wear them since they are too chunky for me and the colors are fairly ugly.

After sending in a copy of the receipt and the $10 shipping, which I find to be unnecessary, I requested that this company send my merchandise certificate by mail. Of course they did not. I received an email in my spam folder with some numbers which are disabled links to exchange for new jewelry. Not only would I like a refund in cash, which I am unable to receive, but I cannot find any replace that I like. Plus I have only six months to use this certificate that I cannot open. I am definitely not ordering anymore jewelry from a party again. What a mistake I made when attending one last year!

The jewelry is simply poor quality and outrageously expensive. I've bought items at two different parties. While I really liked one of the necklaces, it literally fell apart into small pieces. I've tried over and over again to squeeze the rings closed, so it won't fall apart. But it just breaks somewhere else. I chalked that one up to having small kids, who may be were too rough when I wore it.

That was until the next party when I bought a "gold" necklace with initial charms. Within literally three days of wearing this necklace, the gold had completely worn off. Now, I'm well aware that this was not real gold, but I would certainly expect a life of longer than 3 days.

I have not returned the items yet, so I can't speak to the customer service. I can only say that the quality of their jewelry is very poor. It may be worth it if you throw a party and get lots of free/cheap products. But for those of us who attended parties and felt obligated to buy, it's a big disappointment. By the way, given the significant amount of negative reviews on here, I can only assume that the sudden string of 5-star supportive (and sometimes rude) comments are made by employees or consultants in this pyramid scheme.

Bought a pair of Lia Sophia lever back Earrings. Wore 3 or 4 times. Getting ready to go out yesterday, looked on floor and there was a large square stone. I knew right away that everyone was right when they said, "don't buy anything with stones in it from Lia Sophia. They have a problem with stones falling out. Especially rings."

The earrings were nice but they jewelry is really cheaply made. They overcharged because it's pyramid sales. I paid a lot for these earrings... 56 or so. I was told they were only 29 on the invoice when it was looked up. The Lia rep basically accused my friend of stealing money from me. Not a good way to do business. They asked who had the party and who the rep was. that's like asking who served you at Mcdonalds and who was their manager. I don't know. All I know is I bought these and have the box and they are broken and I was way overcharged.

Do yourself a favor, skip the dumb parties. They are not fun anyway. Go to the mall and buy a nice piece of jewelry without the sales pressure of everyone watching what you buy and how much you spend so that the hostess can get free gifts of more crappy jewelry. I don't get it. How do they stay in business? I pray I never get invited to another one of these again. Waste of time and money! They are supposedly sending me another pair of earrings. I don't want another pair. I'd like my $ back why would I want them again. They are garbage. It's like being insulted twice! No I'm not expecting Tiffany and co. but also not expecting gumball machine garbage made in China.

Since Sept. 2011, I have been to two parties, had my own and spent over $350 and received somewhere around $600 in free items. I had great sales/bookings at my party making that happen for me. As far as I know, not one person got a bad piece of jewelry and my party generated close to $900 in sales. I have returned 2 pcs just because I didn't like them and with in a three-week turn around have my exchange certificate in hand. I am waiting for the new catalogue to come out to get my new replacements.

All of my jewelry looks great and wears great and I am blown away at these complaints. If I have problems, I will address them along with my receipts just as I would with any other purchase. Maybe the problems do fall on the advisors because Beth has always had an answer for my questions and if she didn't right then, she did by the next day. I worked for 10 years at an exclusive jewelers and own beautiful gold jewelry but after years, I no longer have the lifestyle for that look and have moved to silver. I have bought sterling silver for several years at Belks, Dillards and Macy's. I see no difference other than Lia Sophia offers much more stones and colors and higher fashion looks in a top quality of custom jewelry.

With the Rhodium Plating, the wear ability should last comparatively to sterling and if it does discolor then go to your folder of your receipts and return the piece for a new one. Walmart, Burlington Coat nor Belks, Dillard or Macy's will do that much for you two years in! I have no coloring problems on my fingers or ears ( 4 bracelets, 2 necklaces, 4 earrings, 8 rings).

Now, I am a Lia Sophia customer and other than just not liking two pieces after they arrived I have had no problems. What are the chances of this? Really? I am sure Beth has made some of the difference in my experience but then again she didn't make the jewelry so she can only do so much. I find this all so hard to believe considering the great experience I have had and having as many pieces as I have acquired at this point. My advise would be to contact the company directly and ask for help resolving issues that make a top company so look bad. I am sure they will take care of you.

What the heck is wrong with you people? Are you completely illiterate? Does anyone know how to take responsibility for their own actions anymore? It's always someone else's fault for your decisions, isn't it? It is made very clear, if not by your advisor, then on the order form, that you must have your receipt for any/all exchanges. So no, to you people asking about 'refunds' without a receipt, you can't. If you are so stupid that you can't read a few simple sentences, then you deserve what you get. Ugh!

Hey, guess what. If you order a giant CZ ring, it's going to look like a giant CZ ring. Were you really expecting it to look classy and authentic? Get some taste. I'm not an idiot; I know what kind of jewelry this is. I'm not expecting Tiffany & Co. quality here. It's rhodium-plated fashion jewelry that can and may tarnish, especially after excessive use (which is where the LS 100% satisfaction guarantee, with a receipt, comes in).

It is so typical of people to trash the business after one unpleasant experience with a bad advisor who has no business being in the business. Do you ever stop to think that not all advisors are like that? No, of course not, because the world revolves around you. Go ahead and share your horror stories with others, but be responsible and make it clear that it was your experience and that your one experience isn't representative of so many others' experiences with Lia Sophia.

And I would like to add that I am very satisfied with my Lia Sophia experiences. I currently own 6 LS pieces, all in great shape, and will be attending a LS party this evening, where I plan to order a few more. My advisor, Robin **, has been nothing but excellent and professional. She is always very clear about the exchange policies, guarantees, quality of pieces, etc. It has never taken more than 2 weeks after a party closes for me to receive my jewelry. It's truly a shame that not all advisors are like her.

I have zero patience for stupid people. I never write on these things, but after reading all of these comments (mostly idiotic, though some may have merit), I felt compelled to come to the defense of my advisor and Lia Sophia in general. And no, just because I have had good experiences, that does not mean that all people will. I'm just asking for a little responsibility on the part of the customer.

This site looks like a bashing ground for Lia Sophia that is set up by other jewelry company reps I have seen before. Do your research on other sites. Lia Sophia is part of the DSA for direct sales companies and is ranked as one of the most reputable. I have had excellent and responsive reps, great quality jewelry and no problems with returns even when I have been careless and the cause of my jewelry damage. I have sent back in items that were bought over 2 years ago and received a certificate to replace, no questions. If people are really having problems with reps, they should report it to the company as they don't tolerate poor advisors. Be aware that there are also people saying they are reps and selling a fake Lia Sophia line illegally. Everyone who orders gets a receipt from the company to prove purchase. Don't believe everything you read, especially when so glaringly negative. Check it out for yourself.

Lia Sophia is a scam. Do not buy jewelry from here. I bought a $48 pair of earrings that broke after the 2nd time I wore them. I sent back in the mail the damaged earrings with the receipt. They called me today and said they received the envelope with the receipt and a letter from the post office saying the envelope had been damaged and there was only one earring in the envelope, so they would not be sending me a replacement pair. What a great company. I will make sure I tell all 2600 friends on my Facebook page not to shop with you

I wasn't even going to bother writing here, until I saw the posting from the Lia Sophia rep defending this company. If I could give them a 0 for a rating, I would. First off, if I purchased merchandise from a store, I would not have to copy the receipt so that I would need more receipts, for when it breaks in the future. Long story short, I bought quite a bit from a "book party" (where they allow people to just pass around a book, and not actually do the work of a party). I was told to make the check out to the person running the book party, not Lia Sophia, so I had no record of purchasing anything from Lia Sophia. My merchandise took almost six months to come in, and when I wrote Lia Sophia for a refund, of course, they had no copies of my check, as the rep paid for it, and then wrote a check to them in her name.

Like someone else also said, after only three weeks now of having it, it's dingy, dinged, tarnished, you name it. I got a terrible ear infection from one of the pieces. God knows what it's made of. One of the pieces, a pair of earrings, like someone else mentioned, looked like it had been dragged across a floor, it was so dirty and scuffed when it arrived. I wear it occasionally, but mostly just as a reminder never to fall for something like this again. I was never given an order number, so I could check on my own pieces, just the name of a rep who had a dozen excuses for why she took my money, and then did not deliver for months. Surprisingly, I only received the merchandise after I wrote directly to Lia Sophia, and threatened to call the BBB. Ugh! I just purchased a sterling silver, real gemstone bracelet from a department store for a mere $20.00 on sale. Now, that I can live with. Wouldn't give this junk to anyone on my shopping list. I'd be embarrassed. I received an apology email from someone at Lia Sophia citing "back orders", although the merchandise I had ordered was not listed as back ordered, or out of stock.

I was told I could do nothing but wait, although I asked for a refund, or at the very least, a change order, where I would get something. But no, I waited six months for stuff that's falling apart within three weeks. One set of earrings are the safety catches, and they don't set right, and come unattached when wearing, tearing my earlobe each time in the Spring.

I ordered two pairs of earrings and they were the wrong colors. My niece returned them to the company as she hosts the party and even wrote to them. Still no earrings. That was seven months ago. Someone made out in that deal and it was not me or my niece! I am out about $65-$70 and have no earrings. Very poor customer service.

I recently received a Lia Sophia necklace as a gift. I had no idea who the company was or how much their products cost. I absolutely loathed the looks of this piece of jewelry. It has a very cheap look to it and weighs nothing. The "silver" beads look as though they've been dragged across the floor, as do the wooden beads. I went online to see if I could exchange it so the "giver" would not be insulted. I found so many similar complaints that I felt I needed to also voice my opinion. I am a middle-aged woman who has worked in the fine jewelry business for years.

For the price they want for this junk, you could actually buy a fine piece of real jewelry not made in China. I really do feel as though folks are seriously being robbed when they purchase anything from this company. Come on, reps, surely there is a better, more reputable way to make some extra money. $100 for this cheaply made costume jewelry is a rip-off!

I hosted a party and when the items came via ups, there were several items missing from the order so I called customer service and they said they would send them out directly to the customer well, the next day the advisor starts implying that I am lying and contacts customer service to cease shipment to the customer. I have yet to hear back from customer service and now owe this gal money for her order. Never again will I do business with this sleazy company.

I agreed to host a party and was told that the advisor would be in touch real soon. It was no big deal when she called and my phone had to be turned off because I called right back. I then got her voice mail. A week went by and I had no record on my cell or home phone that she had attempted to call again. I need to be able to plan things in advance for things like this.

I was having dogs groomed to get them away. Both I and the groomer needed leeway to know definite plans for the day. Some attendees for the party were on the fence and I didn't want them to show up without feeling definite confirmation. So, I felt that I lost them as guests. I also wanted to do some light shopping for cooking and beverages. My husband also needed to plan around on whether this advisor would be at our house or not.

To make the long story short, after 3 more calls to her, she called back at my house and cell the night before, after I had already told her that I would postpone (not sure what to expect for guests, etc.). I was at work, so one more phone tag. A coworker also sold Lia Sophia at one time and suggested that she called because at this point, I wanted to cancel.

The next morning, my advisor actually spoke to me and definitely not in a professional manner. She said that she called more times than she did. I have call waiting records at home and missed calls on my cell. She said not to ever "badmouth" her which I have no idea where she got that. Hence, I now will and she wants me to return the little gift bag she gave at the prior party for wanting to have my own. It was a cheap watch from Marshall's, cheaper than catalog Lia Sophia earrings and little bootie socks.

I have over $1000 in Lia Sophia jewelry purchased over about 3 years. I have had very few complaints about my jewelry. Until I started purchasing from Lia Sophia, I didn't wear jewelry at all. My skin turns green from everything else, except pure metals. And my ears become inflamed after just an hour or so of even "hypoallergenic" metals. I borrowed a pair of my mother's Lia Sophia earrings and was able to wear them all day. I even slept in them. They were the first earrings I've been able to wear in almost 20 years that didn't cause me to react.

My son ordered a necklace and a ring. He wore them constantly, even in the shower. Needless to say, his use of the jewelry he owned was excessive. After a time, both the ring and necklace tarnished and needed to be replaced. I think his body chemistry may have played a part in the deterioration of his two pieces. But he was able to get them replaced easily. My advisor was very helpful in replacing the items.

Recently, I have reluctantly attended a Lia Sophia party because it was hosted by a good friend and I felt obligated. I normally do not buy costume jewelry and would never spend hundreds of dollars on it without first testing out the product, so I purchased an inexpensive ankle bracelet.

My friend, the hostess, had just bought one and said that she loved it. It was pretty and was only $28 so I ordered it. I liked it but after just a few days, it came apart. I was able to reconnect it but after a few more days, it came apart again. I mentioned it to my friend who said that hers had fallen off and she never did find it. She also said another friend had the same problem with her anklets falling apart. I didn't return mine in time for a refund so I will have to settle for a certificate, although, I don't really want any more of their product. My friend is out of luck as they do not replace lost items. Anyway, I will chalk this up to experience and will not make any further purchases or recommend their product to others.

When I returned my item, I requested the certificate include the full purchase price plus tax. I'm curious to see if the tax is included.

Let me just say this, all I am reading appears to be an issue with the "advisor" a customer has dealt with. I am an advisor for Lia Sophia, and I do none of what is mentioned here in these comments and complaints. If an advisor offers a "free" gift to a hostess, it is paid for by the advisor for this to be a "free" gift for the hostess. We offer fabulous hostess benefits and a lifetime replacement guarantee.

As someone else here mentioned, perhaps at a show you are not hearing, you must save your receipt and make a copy of it to return. Can you go to Macys, JCPenny or Walmart for that matter and return an item without a receipt for money back? Never, especially not after 120 days, which is four months, ladies.

For those of you who purchased jewelry through an advisor and received no merchandise and no call back, how is that Lia Sophia's fault. We are all independent advisors responsible for our own actions. I am one of those who do go above and beyond for my customers and I return all my calls and emails accordingly.

I too work full time and have a family, but all of my clients, hostesses, and customers alike are important to me as well as their satisfaction. I do help my customers with returns, even if it is a small cost out of my own pocket to ensure their satisfaction. I work very hard at my Lia Sophia business and nowhere does it say silver, it says rhodium overlay. Yes this fashion jewelry does tarnish on some due to an individual's skin. I have purchased and sold Lia Sophia jewelry for 6 year now and had never, not once, had a problem.

As I am reading all of these comments and complaints, I think all should to listen to the advisor as to how our products are to be handled and, if they encounter troubles, how returns are to take place. As for those who had advisors scam them out of money, karma will follow. We are all independent advisors responsible for ourselves and our Lia Sophia business. If an item needs to be returned and replaced, I, as the advisor (which I am not responsible to do), save copies as well of each and every order I place for my customers so if in any event they did lose their receipt, I will still be there to assist them even so much as a year later.

So please, please don't bad mouth Lia Sophia when most, if not all, of these knocking comments are due to "bad" advisors or customers who just don't listen to how the process is to be followed.

My dissatisfaction with your product is more with your company. I purchased a bracelet but it turned out to be so large, heavy and it slides off my wrist. But the reason I'm writing is because the information on the box lists "imported by Canada." It is misleading and tends to suggest the product is made in Canada. It is better to list the name of the country in which these pieces are made.

Please, I am getting no help. I bought a bracelet at a Lia Sophia Party a while ago. I do not have the receipt any longer. I love the bracelet, but it is tarnishing. All the gold is wearing off and it is all stretched out. Can someone credit my card or replace the piece?

Thank you,

Diane **

I worked for Lia Sophia, and I have to say after just a few weeks, "I quit". For every party, you are supposed to receive 30% commission and I got about half of that for my parties. Also my manager was completely incompetent and everything was an issue from submitting a party to getting paid for it. After my party, I did not only receive improper commission compensation but I didn't get paid for almost a month and a half. Totally ridiculous! Also, a couple of my customers were very dissatisfied with their jewelry and the quality. After 2 weeks, some of the jewelry started turning. I had already resigned from Lia Sophia, so they went through customer service and my old manager and received inadequate customer service and no resolution. And yes! They had their receipt!

I bought an overpriced junk, which they called silver jewelry. The jewelry turned my skin green, and the pieces were broken. I sent the broken pieces back and the same broken pieces came back to me with not a letter or word from them. The place should be investigated by the Better Business Bureau. Seriously they are a sham.

I bought a pair of earrings and within fifteen minutes of wearing them, they hurt my neck. They hook into your ear and the shape of them is so awful that it pokes into my neck like a needle. I've never seen such poor quality for such expensive earrings. Come on, for that kind of money you could put a clasp or something besides what looks like fish hooks that angles back to the neck at the end of it.

I'm very disappointed. Now that I've taken them out, my ears hurt where the earrings went through my ears. I've never had another pair of earrings ever do that to me. Also, why not give Americans jobs instead of sending the work over to China. Hand made Jewelry that was made in China was what it says in the box. I think with those prices, little Lia & Sofia can do without to provide American jobs.

I will never buy their product and I will let everyone know about it. By the way, I called the customer service and didn't get far. The lady was nice and agreed with everything I said. She asked if I wanted to exchange them for something else but I told her that I did not. She took my name and number but that was it. I believe I'm gonna have to call back again.

I'm a woman with no agenda or ties with another company; all I want is to let people know that it's poor quality. Lia Sophia stinks and will not be getting my money any more. I'll look for made in America from now on.

I had a party over a month ago and have not received anyone's items they ordered. She will not answer my calls or my text messages.

I purchased three pieces of jewelry for a total of $268.00. First, I did not receive my jewelry for thirty days. Then I wore each piece few times, and they all began to tarnish, also turned my skin green. Now most of these jewelries are not everyday jewelry. They are pretty and fancy looking, and I don't wear that kind of thing to work every day. I basically wear them to go out at night. So, it took me about a month and a half before I wore the pieces a few times.

Once when I realized they were tarnishing, I called the customer service and explained the problem, and that I did not want a credit because I obviously cannot wear their jewelry. The woman who answered was very nice. She told me to return the items with a letter explaining what happened, and they would most likely refund my credit card. So, I did just that. Two weeks later, I received an email with a gift certificate to purchase new jewelry-- just what I did not want. Not only that, they gave me the amount for each piece back and an extra $5 because it was under 120 days, but what about the $16 plus I paid for taxes? When you return something, you get the tax you paid back!

So, of course I called and spoke to another customer service representative; she told me that she couldn't do anything. So, I asked for a supervisor, who was ridiculously rude. She transferred me to the exchange department voice mail, where I then left a message. I still have not gotten a return call. I can understand if I said it did not fit, or I don't like it, or I got the wrong thing, but the crappy jewelry turns my skin green! It was supposed to be silver, which is not because I always wear silver with no problem. The costs of these pieces are ridiculous. I could have bought something similar at Marshall for $8; if it turned my skin green after three wears, I would have felt like I got my money's worth, but not after paying $268.

I will never go to another party, or purchase jewelry from this company again. I will be let all my friends, coworkers and all of Facebook know that this company is a fraud and does not stand by their product, as they say, they do. Forty-five days return policy from the party is a ridiculous. Stores give you 60 days, and you walk out with your purchase. Here, you don't even get your product for weeks, and then you have to mail it back. What a scam!

My complaint is a bit different from the rest as I was an advisor for Lia Sophia. Because of the stories I read here, the support that were not given by customer service, and the runaround on the returns of our customers, I quit. I cannot believe the way the advisors have handled themselves and have to admit I am upset that customers either don't know what they are buying or don't want to ask. I told everyone these things can and do tarnish, fall apart, depending on the production or the chemical make up in our bodies.

I bought my favorite bracelet and have so far had it replaced 4 times. But see, that is what I don't get. I can't do that on other places like Walmart or Kohls and they stand behind their replacement policy always. So, no one should be complaining about replacements or refunds unless you didn't read the receipts or your advisor didn't reiterate what wasn't read. We don't go to the advisor to replace or refund, if they did that for you, you should be thanking them. That is a cost out of their pocket.

It says on all documents to go directly to Lia Sophia and in big, bold print: Do not go to the advisor. Also, the hostess gets your items. So if they didn't get them to you, be mad at the correct person because advisors are too shy to tell it like it is and let you know:

1. Advisors don't return your jewelry, you do. It is a hefty price for them to do it for you.
2. Advisors should be telling you to go directly to Lia Sophia.
3. Advisors and the hostess should be telling everyone this is not real jewelry! It is fashion jewelry. Why would you think it wouldn't tarnish?
4. And if we don't like the prices? Don't buy and don't get their guarantee. Go to Walmart.
5. Advisors invest a lot to make your party fun and the hostess gets free things.
6. Read the catalog, ladies. It says to have a qualifying party, you need 2 buyers and at least $250 in sales. Free items aren't sales. And if you don't get the minimum, guess what? You didn't earn it. Guess what else? Your advisor didn't earn it either! So she gets nothing from you.
7. As far as the "gift" goes for having a party, I did purchase them out of my own pocket. Since when did everyone get so selfish anyhow? It is nice to get you a $100 item.
8. As far as your 12 things, she didn't tell you get them for free and if she did, you should have read the big print and saw that was a wish list, not a free list. Be mad at your friends, not the advisor.
9. The company charges their advisors for everything and if you don't want to buy, don't buy for goodness' sakes. They work hard and are doing this for a reason. They have invested a lot of money, but things like tarnishing and shipping costs are not the advisor's fault.
10. Read people, read. Lifetime Guarantee, or did you not read the bold print that said do not lose your receipt and do make a copy of it!

11. The fact that the company expects people to actually read, is why I resigned.

I attended a Lia Sophia party a month ago and charged my purchase with my credit card. When I received my order, not only was the necklace I ordered wrong, it was replaced with a different more expensive necklace, and my credit card was charged more than what I had on our signed agreement.

I think it is illegal for someone to change an amount you signed for a credit card. Anyway, I am still waiting for Lia Sophia to credit my Visa. I am so angry. I will never purchase their products again. I never cared for their low quality and high prices but I just purchased here and there because of friends who threw the parties. NEVER AGAIN. I want my money back.

I met Jennifer ** on May 16, Tuesday afternoon. She booked a small meeting room from me that day to have a Lia Sophia recruiting party. No one attended but myself, so I booked a party for that Sunday, May 22 at 2:30 pm. I had about seven people show up and others who would just be ordering from catalog men and women. That day I picked up about 600 or more in sales. I was then told by Jennifer that I would get 20% in free jewelry for total sales sold.

She asked me when I wanted to close out party sales so we could turn in. I am a manager at this establishment. I oversee $20000 in beverage sales, not to include rentals and bookings of my party room/meeting rooms. I am a very busy woman and trusted in this person. I texted her on Sunday the 30th because I was busy with Memorial weekend. I also work for our veterans and I'm a member of ladies auxiliary here. So I by then had picked up three hundred more in sales, so I texted her because she kept calling and texting, saying I had to close out by last day at midnight. Well, Sunday, Monday the 30th, I called her at about 1 pm and tell her I have more orders; she told me, "Sorry, Patty, I entered all the sales as regular direct sales because Sunday night the 29th going on the 30th was deadline." I said but tomorrow is the 31st, how can that be?

She then told me, "Sorry again. I already turned them in to be mailed to there address." I said to her what about my free stuff for selling. She said sorry I can't help you. I must tell you that I am very upset and disillusioned with the way she misguided me. I believe she could have at least given me my credit or ordered me some jewelry and if I didn't like it, I could have exchanged it or so she told me that I had options to pick from. I worked hard for those sales. I told all the ladies and men who bought jewelry from me that day about what Jennifer did to me, and they also agreed that it was not nice nor fair what she pulled on me. I really pray that I will receive a call from you all and that I receive prompt service. I will be waiting to hear from you all very soon. I lost out on about two hundred dollars of free merchandise that I worked very hard for in pushing your product. Jennifer ** left a bad taste and sour stomach in me when I hear or mention the word Lia Sophia.

I purchased almost three hundred dollars of jewelry six months ago. One of the necklaces is turning that was advertised as silver. One of my bracelets broke two months after I got it. I have called and called and called and gotten no cooperation. This company should be brought up on fraud charges.

This company is a fraud and cheats people out of money. They have terrible customer service. I bought a large CZ ring. What a waste that turned out to be. I don't dare wear it looking so cheap and fake. I will not have anything to do with this joke of a company again. Buyers beware!

While I am glad that there are forums for people to find out about potential problems with certain companies, I am very suspicious of this website. I feel like if people are going to complain, they should have to put in some sort of order # or something to prove that they just don't work with a rival jewelry company OR that they were too lazy to run a profitable business themselves and feel bitter towards those who might be doing that like myself.

Yes, I am an advisor with Lia Sophia and while I agree that there are several sales people who practice "bad business" and have run into problems myself with these people, I don't feel like the whole company should be run down because of these. The unfortunate thing is that there are wonderful sales people within this organization who will suffer when people read these random comments without any proof! As far as the ethics and morals of Lia Sophia go, we were just recently given one of the DSA's (Direct Sales Association) most prestigious awards.

This company is changing women's lives for the better on a daily basis by giving us the opportunity to not be locked into small paychecks from going nowhere jobs and in case you haven't noticed, there aren't many of those around anyway. We must be doing something right because Lia Sophia's sales have increased 1500% since 2004! In a downward economy! You don't reach these numbers by scamming people or providing them with cheap product! You reach these numbers with repeat customers who appreciate the fashionable jewelry, hostess benefit program, great customer specials and lifetime guarantee! Are they coming back for junk or to be treated badly? I think not!

Ask around to advisors, consultants, whatever, from different direct sales companies and see how much of the Hostess Benefits come from their own pockets! Not true with Lia Sophia! The benefits to the hostesses are amazing! Check them out on liasophia.com! Sorry for people being taken by bad sales people but we are not all alike! Test the waters with a different advisor. if you don't, you will be missing out and if you do, that would be the biggest pay back to a bad advisor giving your business to better one!

I bought a ring from your company and I returned the ring twice because it turn my finger green. For that much money, it shouldn't have.

I had a party May 2010. The party was great I had a $50 credit after my orders. I went on vacation the following week (which I told Liz) I called her the following week when I returned home. I left about 7 messages before I got a response. I put my order in and she told me I would have it the following week. I never received any jewelry until about 2 weeks or so ago. I guess my order was shipped out of state. Liz followed it and had it delivered to her and would bring it to my house. Once I got the jewelry I realized a ring I was suppose to get free for giving her my invite slip early was not there. I was suppose to get this at the time of my party but they gave her the wrong size so she sent it back and reorder it. I have called her 3 times and sent a couple of emails after I received all of the jewelry that was ordered to let her know the ring was not there. To this day she has not yet responded to either my calls or emails. I think this is very unprofessional.

What a scam this company is. First of all, at the party the hostess is given a "free" gift. They don't bother to tell everyone that she paid $20 for it. By the way, "free" gifts are not guaranteed. Then the rep has the hostess choose 12 items from the display, saying that she will be receiving these items for free. She does not receive any of these items and as a matter of fact, it is a waste of time for her to choose them. The items just sit there and never get talked about or touched again. Each person at the party has to give their mailing address and phone number on the order form. They each pay a shipping fee of at least $3.80. Since they, each have to pay for shipping separately, then why is only one little box delivered to the hostess home? Why isn't everything delivered to the consumers? The box that arrived at the hostess home, weighed less then a pound. The shipping money collected for that box was $43.30.

There is not one piece of jewelry in that catalog that you can not buy at Walmart or Burlington Coat Factory for a fraction of the price. My niece bought a discontinued necklace at 70% off, she paid $18.00 for it. It was a single strand necklace. I found the same exact thing at Walmart with a triple strand and it was $4.00.How dare this company try to say that they are comparable to anyone. This company is the biggest scam since Enron.

I had called Sue **, the Lia Sophia rep, the morning after a Lia Sophia party at approximately 8:30 am. I asked her to please cancel my order from the previous evening. It's because I had realized that I already had a few pieces similar to the ones I had just ordered (you know how it is girls; sometimes we forget what we have in our own closets or jewelry boxes until we look into them). Anyway, there is a 3-day right to cancel any order, printed right on the Lia Sophia receipt. Sue **, the Lia Sophia rep, should have simply canceled my order.

Instead, she left me a voice message and told me I could not cancel my order. This voicemail came after I sent her my first email stating that I wasn't sure if she received my voice mail. So, I was emailing her to cancel my order. I told her I had put a stop payment on my check because I hadn't heard back from her. Sue **, the Lia Sophia rep, lied and basically could have cheated me out of $125.80 had I not placed a stop payment on my check, if I had believed her. She said she had canceled my order and had not deposited my check. Please beware if you decide to deal with this company. I, for one, will never deal with Lia Sophia.

I've read all complaints posted about lia sophia. It does not seem that the lia sophia company is at fault. Unfortunately, there are some not-so-great advisors selling the lia sophia product line. The company itself offers "fashion" jewelry at prices competitive with Macy's, JC Penney and the likes. However, lia sophia goes so far as to back their jewelry 100% with a lifetime guarantee. You may need to pay shipping, but it is more than you'd get from a department store without any guarantee.

Also, if returned within 120 days of purchase, lia sophia sends a $5 certificate for use on a future order. Please be careful to whom you point the finger. Lia sophia is one of the top manufacturers of jewelry and they didn't get there by selling cheap products or trying to rip off their customers. Lia sophia is at the top because of their dedication to their customers and their commitment to back their product 100%.

I held a party and from there a family member held a party, and from there a friend held a party: the order from the friend's party was never received and we don't know if it's been placed. It's been about 6 weeks since my friends party and no jewelry and no word from the so called advisor. I know she has a full time job, family and her own life, but she decided to be an advisor and thus take responsibility for orders, product and money. Relationships between family and friendships are now strained. This agent may be sued by family and friends. Her actions were rude and despicable.

I attended a lia sophia party for the first time at a friends house, decided to book a party with Lia sophia for June 11, 2010. a couple weeks prior to having the party i needed to cancel, I never heard from Karen W until a few days before my party. I attempted to contact her by phone and received no response back, I then sent her an email advising I needed to cancel the party and if it was ok to have a book party...still a week later and haven't heard back. I did purchase some expensive items that she charged my charge card and has REFUSED to give me my items. I am beyond upset and now I have taken over $500.00 in book orders from friends that I'm unable to get processed. I would like my merchandise that I paid for and the opportunity to put in my sales. I REFUSE to ever buy anything in the future from this place or ever book a party.

Because I am blind - I have has a very hard time trying to settle this matter without complaint to the company -- however I have not been helped by my cunsultant therefore, please help me. I had a show on 5/16/10 SHOW CLOSED ON 5/27/10 Guests paid by credit card, checks I was advised continuosly the the order has been submitted for delivery. I have called Stacy numerous times and she assured me order would be recieved in a couple of days (numerous times).

To date 6/12/10 I have not recieved my order and I and my guest, some of who are also disabled are extreamly unhappy. I need help from other because of my handicap (blind) and guests are awaiting their orders and are very unhappy with the company

I purchased a pair of gold/silver 3 hoops dangle earrings. I do not have my receipt but they were not cheap. I could count how many times I've worn them; not many. I took them off last night and one earring completely fell apart. The quality and workmanship of this jewerly is garbage. With this same purchase was two other items; one being the 4 carat CZ ring. What a rip off that was. I won't even wear that it looks so cloudy, cheap and fake. I will never go to another party or purchase this jewerly again. BEWARE.

I purchased several pieces of Lia Sophia jewellery, which can only be purchased through an adviser or hosting a party. Well, I paid a lot of money for what I thought was really exclusive jewellery. Lo and behold they charge extravagantly for these pieces of made in China jewellery which lose color and look like jewellery purchased from a Lia Sophia store.

They give you a lifetime guarantee on the jewellery, but you have to pay the shipping & handling to send in each piece of jewellery. This is a rip off. The adviser looks after her own benefit and lets you deal with the situation on your own. Too much money has gone down the drain and I have no way of getting back the money.

Several years ago, I purchased two bracelets. At that time, each bracelet cost $14. The finish wore off both bracelets in a few years. So I did the return/exchange by filling out the return form and sending Lia Sophia a check for $10 (the processing and handling fee). These same bracelets now cost $16 each. I was not going to get the same bracelets as the finish wore off these so I ordered two bracelets that costs $16 each.

Then I received a letter from the company charging me and additional $4 for the price difference, money for shipping and additional sales tax. After speaking with the customer rep, I only had to send $4.47 instead of $8.27. After hanging up the telephone, I realized I should not have been charged anything that is what the $10 return/exchange fee was for. After the hassle of this exchange, I will never again order from this company.

When I opened my Lia Sophia necklace on Christmas, it was broken. I had to pay to have it shipped back. I was leary of exchanging for exact necklace so I wanted my money back. Because it was past the 45 days purchase day, they would not give me my money back. It was purchased in October for a Christmas present. I did not take it out of the box before Christmas so it was too late. The company is making it difficult for me to exchange for items for the exact amount of money I spent on the necklace.

Elaine begged me to have a Lia Sophia party for her, on Aug 5th I hosted a party at my home. Several people ordered items, Elaine has cashed the checks and charged the credit cards(approx 345.00) but no merchandise has been received. I have emailed customer service at Lia Sophia several time and gotten NO ANSWER. I am at my wits end, Do I sue Elain? Lia Sophia? both?

the bracelet i bought has stretched and is falling off my arm. I want them to repair or replace it. I am not getting any help from them. please help.

I ordered $93.17 worth of Lia Sophia jewelry from Michelle Krenning on June 22, 2009. Nearly a month has passed, and I've not heard a word from this person regarding delivery of the merchandise I ordered. Michelle Krenning doesn't answer her phone when I call.

I went to lia sophia jewelry party in Marc h 2009 and bought an ankle bracelet. It has beeds on it. It has tarnished badly. I contacted the hostess of the jewelry party and she advised me I must have the original receiptto exchange it. I do not have the receipt. What can I do?

Went to a lia sophia jewelry party and ordered jewelry. never received it. called the demonstrator was given a story. finally contacted company--apparently the demonstrator took the order money and never placed the orders. demonstrator sent me a check which I have not been able to cash. so I am out my money and the jewelry. where do I go next??
