Maronda Homes

Tim of West Chester OH (02/17/09)
Before you read the below complaints, please realize that this is a very low percentage of customers who have had issues, plus who knows if the home was maintained correctly by the homeowner. During the timeframe described, Maronda built over 20,000 homes! No new home is ever perfect and will have minor issues during the first year. I'm not saying these people didn't have issues. But we are talking about less than .02% of the homes sold have had complaints and that is if you count all of these complaints and every BBB complaint over the past 5 years.

All of the wood at the bottom of my door Jams are rotted out of both sides of the Side Lights and are completely rotten and the Jams have severe water damage. This water damage is so extensive that it has reached to the Dry Wall and the base boards are also rotten. According to the Contractor it appears that the Pressure Treated Buck strips that are supposed to be between the door jam and the wall per building codes are not present.

All of the Finger Joints are showing, exposed and separating. Whenever the rain falls my foyer area and laundry area of my Sunbury Model Home is flooded. This matter has been brought to Maronda's attention in the past and on 2 occasions a Tech. came out and performed minor Caulking which never resolved the issue. I would highly appreciate that someone from Maronda or, if they can direct me to the respective personnel to assist me with this matter. the major problem is when it rains hard i recieve water from the exterior walls in my computer room and my living room. i have replaced my wood flooring twice in two years. all i want is for Moranda to live up to its part off the deal. i pay for the house and they build me a good product, that the way its suppossed to work, right?

The modle home was a beautiful two story house with 3000 plus sq. ft and four bedrooms. It was a dream come true, or so we thought. We picked out all the things that we wanted in the house and made the building contract in November. Since then we have had nothing but problems. M wife wanted to chsnge some things, several things including the lot and the house and we were told that we will be charged 250.00 for each change that we make. Needless to say we went back to the old way we had it and that made us very upset. I thought it didnt matter no matter how many changes we made, they still get the money.

The worst part is that we were told we would be getting the house for 219,000 but in the contract the price was 235,125. The lot that was PICKED OUT FOR US, sat there with nothing done toit and we were told the house would be finished in May, this was back durring the last week of December. We paid 1,500 already as a building deposit and I am now trying to get it back. I just got a certified letter from the company saying that they are keeping the money and could charge us upto 10% of the purches price for breech of contract. This made me so made. They lied to me and my wife. So now I am out of 1,500. How can this company get away with this, they didnt put anything into this at all except a permit.

When I bought my house, I chose the model based on value ie. price/Sq. Ft. I thought I was getting 2456 Sq. Ft. of house. The latest look at the tax records show only 2158. 298 sq. ft. less. I want 18,928.34 refunded to me.

I was jipped out of 18,928.34 worth of space. Not to mention I was forced to use their prefered lender which I found out is illegal. But that's another issue...
