Classic Century Homes

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

We bought house right after it was built, brand new. The A/C and heating system needed repairs right after 1st year and do not work properly. We need to replace them. There are cracks in the ceilings in every room. The oven in the stove stopped working after 4 years and I will need to buy another stove. The backyard slopes so steeply that it is impossible to walk outside for recreational purposes. The driveway has cracks in it. The front porch is uneven and mold collects around the bottom area. The builder never returned any of my calls. If I could get rid of this house, I would do so.

I was a single woman who purchased a Classic Century Home in January 2007. It was a new dwelling built in late 2005. There were several things needing repair according to the Inspector. The roof, attic, doors, and windows, which were miner. However, there were brick cracks on the exterior and ceiling cracks in several of the rooms. The builder repaired and every year after, the same rooms are in need of repair at lease twice a year. After the 1st year, I could never reach anyone. Also the outside A/C unit had to be repaired at least once for the 1st three years. The driveway is also caving in, even my neighbors. Do not buy one of these homes. Lucky for me I had AHS and a new husband who patches up the walls. Now I think it's time for some legal advice.

I purchased a new home from Classic Century Homes, LTD, based out of Arlington TX in 2006. Before my one year walk through, my house had major cracks in the dry wall. During my walk through, we discovered, quoted by an engineer from Classic Century, your house is splitting into two. Since that time I have filed suit against Classic Century only to finally be told in 2010, that they do not have insurance. During this long wait, I have hired an engineer who confirmed the damage of my home, Olson (Foundation Company) confirmed and reported this type of damage is what you would typically see in a 15-20 year old home and numerous pictures of the damage to the home.

Do not purchase a Classic Century home, you could get stuck with a house that is not worth the monthly payments or be tied up in a law suit for years. Who protects the consumer from the builder? How can a builder build homes without insurance, and be allowed to walk away from their responsibility and obligation with a clear conscience.

Closed 4/23/07. New construction home. Took 1 month longer to build due to poor management by contractor. Extra expense of $1500 for hotel due to delays. Told by sales rep that the company would cover our appliance expense due to all the problems completing the home. Turned out to be a lie and have still not recieved reinbursment. Carpet stained in 3 rooms by hired contractors and stains did not come out.

Carpet needs to be replaced. Generic padding used 3/8" with hard debris in it. Feels like walking on small rocks throughout the home. Carpet repair done in small bdrm. Carpet laid in wrong direction and you can obviously see the rectangular repair. Wall where plan originally had an arch and was enclosed at our request was done poorly. Beams used for wall fram are visible through the wall. Contractor tried to re-texture the wall and paint it but beams are still visible. Driveway & sidewalk have large concrete marking (one 2' x5') where cement bag busted and hardened due to rain.

Front porch has 3 1" deep & 1 1/2" wide holes due to poor mason work. In 1 month have had to constantly track down contractor for repairs including plumbing, electrical, flooring, a.c. and inspectors. Many strangers coming in & out of our home. Our garage door was improperly installed. Landscaping issue with a.c. drain causing entire front & back left side of house to retain excessive amounts of water resulting in a fowl odor, flys and a green, moldy slime to form where the water flows. Still waiting for grass to come in for the backyard after 1 months.

Sent several e-mails to corporate office and have still yet to hear from anyone. There are many small details wrong with the home but the contractor and waranty dept feel that they are insignificant and keep putting them off, giving me the impression that they will not get done.
