carolyn of wantagh, NY October 22, 2009 No hot water, basically same complaint that is on the message boards. Only have unit 1 year getting run around. Esther of Lubbock, TX October 20, 2009 I bought model BFG1F3030T2NHOV last year (2008) It has repeatedly been messing up not wanting to stay lit. We had it serviced at the beginning of the year. They replaced the box, I believe, I was there. They couldn't tell my boyfriend why it was messing up or what to do about it. Since then it went off again and we've had to manually relight it and reset it and it just doesn't want to stay on. I called about 10 minutes ago and the first of all I couldn't understand the man! He kept saying that he couldn't trouble shoot without knowing what was wrong...HELLO! I kept telling him it didn't want to stay lit, that I did try the reset button...he said that was bad...DUH! He kept saying the same thing over and over. He also said that I only had a year's warranty on service...well why is there a sticker on the heater that says 6 years warranty! That he could sent me the part! Hello! What am I going to do with that! Nadim of Atlanta, GA October 19, 2009 The hot water heater went out, and it wont relight after numerous attempts. the unit is less than three years old. The temperature is low, and we are unable to shower with warm water. stefanie of walcott, IA October 19, 2009 famous water heater problem. whirlpool BFG1H4040T3NOV. My husband was able to get a replacement ignitor for whirlpool water heater from lowe's, install it, and it worked for all of a few hours. Now i can't get the new replacement ignitor to stay lit. should have gone to sears. Sheldon of Sandy, UT October 18, 2009 Add me to the long and growning list of angry Whirlpool water heater owners. I bought one of their infamous Flame-lock models and can't keep it going despite repeated cleaning of the bottom vent and the replacing of thermocouples. I bought it at Lowe's and paid extra to get the model with the 9 year warranty on parts and tank. I'd rather throw this piece of junk in the ocean and buy a new one then spent another 7 years of constant repairs! Harold of Ashburn, VA October 12, 2009 I wrote an email to whirlpool about a defective hot water heater. I received 3 voice mail messages from american heater since I was not at home. I tries 20 or more times to reach them at the number they left for me to contact them by phone. The line is consistently busy and I have not been able to reach anyone. Bob of Dayton, KY October 12, 2009 I purchased a Whirlpool hot water heater less than two years ago and it will not light. the themocoupling has lt hand threads. I went to Lowe's to buy a new one and they only sell rt hand threaded ones. The salesman said "good luck." So I guess there goes 400.00 down the tube. He suggested I call Whirlpool, but, from the looks of it, there's been a lot of problems with these heaters and the amount of having these fixed, you can buy a new heater. And Lowe's is still selling the same Whirlpool heaters. I suggest, go elsewhere, I know I will. Gerald of Chesterton, IN October 10, 2009 My hot water heater went out twice now. After having the same problem as everyone else, I had problems finding a left handed thread thermocouple. I called every ware and was told that Lowes had some. Went there and they said that the one I needed was pulled due to defects. They had free replacement burner assemblies from the manufacture since they had a recall. I ended up getting the last one that they had. You can call Lowes to see if you can get the replacement. They will need your model and serial numbed to see what kit you will need. Apparently this fix is for American Water Heaters and Whirlpool. Paul of Walnut, CA October 9, 2009 I was promised a replacement ignition/pilot light unit for my Whirlpool water heater. I was given a UPS tracking #1Z2583E4440584689, and now less than one day before the promised arrival date, UPS has no record of the tracking number I was given. I have gotten nothing but the run around since the water heater failed. I have sent a letter to Jeff Fettig, CEO at Whirlpool Corporation, expressing my growing frustration with the shoddy products now bearing the once revered Whirlpool name. I have called every Lowes store within 30 miles of my house and none of them are able to get enough repair kits to meet the ever growing requests and none have had a kit in stock for a considerable period of time. Tania of Mount Pleasant, TX October 7, 2009 Case # 300992 I purchase a water heater back in 2007 and around September 2008 it went dead. IT will not heat the water. So I returned it back to Lowes with no problems. Toda I woke up this morning and my water heater is dead how do I know that I took a bath with cold water. Again I call lowes and they suggested I call Whirlpool again. Again they walked me through the steps again to reignite it and I finally got mad. They then transfer me to America Water Heaters and they are trying to blame it on the bottom being dirty and that alot of maintenance is require to maitain them from going off. I am sick and tired of this I just want to replace it with a new water heater. I already do alot to keep my seld bussy all day I don't have time to keep the bottom of my water heater clean. I never heard of that. They Lowes will not take it back with out and AR number from Whirlpool. It only has been a year and this is the second time that this types od water heaters go off on me. I have the right to replace it for a new one. I refuse to give in. I want another water heater and is still under warranty. Report Your Experience
