A Whirlpool side by side came with a new manufactured home bought in 2005. The fridge worked fine for about a year, and then the in door ice dispenser stopped working. Whirlpool does not make a replacement part for the ice door. I found an after market part to replace the broken one. Now the water dispenser drips water and the self defrost drain outlet froze solid with ice. I would not wish a Whirlpool product on my worst enemy let alone referring one to a friend

Daniel of Bellbrook, OH December 21, 2008

Daniel of Bellbrook OH (12/21/08)
We bought a side by side Gold series Whirlpool refrigerator from Lowes in Feb of '06 and have had a series of problems with it. Several times in the past year the icemaker has stopped working. We had a repairman come look at it, and he said although there was no water in the trays at the time, it was working correctly. It began making ice as soon he arrived, but he promised to come back if it stopped again. We have since discovered that an icecube gets caught in the arm of the icemaker and the whole thing comes to a stop.

Now the right side of the unit does not want to cool correctly. On Thanksgiving Day right side got as warm as 60 degrees. My wife hates this frig! She complains that she is unable to use the whole shelf because of the design of the lip around the glass trays. Consequently the square footage does not work out to be as advertised.

Several times we gave had to through out food that cannot be trusted as a result of the right side of the unit not working correctly.

I bought a whirlpool refrigerator from Lowe's and first time it had a dent, they sent a new one second time motor went out and icemaker. They came and fixed it, and I only had this one less than a week! Just had them come back and fix icemaker again, the man said it was the cuppling and they don't last very long. Life of these whirlpools are 3-5 yrs. I highly reccomend getting a warranty or don't buy this brand, This is a side by side and stainless steel and it is the worst product I have every seen! The dishwasher is bad also it came with the door not opening all the way and then one day it feel off, waiting for tech to come and fix it.

I lost food twice and it was over 200.00!
