I purchased a Whirlpool Accubake (Model RBS275PDB6) wall oven in July 0f 1999. To date, I have replaced the thermocouple/sensor 5 times. The first time the store where the oven was purchased came and added some insulation to the wall oven and replaced the fan, but the problem peresisted. The culprit seems to be the self clean cycle. Each failure has occurred after using the self cleaning cycle. The next time you attempt to use the oven, the elements (baking or broiling) refuse to heat. I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product, or any product of a Whirlpool subsidiary again.

Electronic oven control became erratic after 6 months' use, now (after less than 1 year's use) not working at all. I see this is a FREQUENT problem on Whirlpool ovens. Product number GW395LEPS00. Fancy schmancy looking thing - all style, no substance, alas. . .

Erma of Carlsbad, NM August 5, 2009

Double wall oven Model RBD245PDS12 digital control board went out. Was told to turn off the power so that I would not have a fire. Many conplaints on line about the same problem. Was told that there was not a recall. No ovens for 4 weeks. Will cost aprox 800 to repair.

Claire of Tomales, CA August 2, 2009

I purchased this house after my husband died October 2004. The house was new and on the market since 2003. Last month the lower part of the built-in Whirpool Gold double oven no longer heated up. So I used just the top part of the oven until yesterday, when the top control panel issued error codes E6 (red LED) and F2 (blue LED). I checked the fuse in the master fuse box and the oven fuse is not thrown and the lights in the oven still work.

I've been on the phone from 9:00 am to 10:15 this morning (mainly on hold) trying to report the problem to Whirlpool. The answering service was located in Texas and the woman was truly trying her best. I received the name of a "local" service, which is not local to me for I'm 18 miles from town in Tomales, CA. The earliest time for an appointment is next Wednesday. I'm retired from the computer industry and using my background in computer circuitry I'm of the opinion that the control panel was designed to fail when the guarantee period expired (within a month of expiration.) It's easy to insert a clock on a motherboard.

Whirpool Gas Range control panel/computer is junk !!! The problem is that if you use the self cleaning buton the oven then throws a fit. The control panel will stop working and you will have to go and order another one from the company at over 200.00. There should be a major recall on this oven as many people have had this problem as well. The only thing I can say is that I will not fix this. There will be another oven here for less money and I know that it will not be built by Whirlpool.

In 2002 I purchased a Whirlpool Gold range from Sears Canada. After about 1 year of operation the stove timer displayed an error message indicating the timer had failed- of course the 1 year warranty was expired. The local dealer for Whirlpool replaced the timer at a cost of 300.00. A month later the timer failed again and was replaced again by the local dealer at no cost to me. At this time the local dealer suggested I contact Whirlpool to establish a record of the probelm I was having and I did so. I should point out that even though the timer failed the top portion of the stove continued to operate, only the oven was unuseable.

A year later the same error message indicated the timer had once again failed. On each of the failure occasions I contacted Whirlpool to ask them if this was a recurring problem with this stove model and they denied there was.

Our Whirlpool gas range (model number SF114PXSQ0) began beeping and displaying an "F5" error code for no apparent reason. When the panel is reset, the error code returns within 5 minutes. This range is only 2, or 3 years old and it has been used less than 20 times. Behind the control panel, on the back side of the printed circuit board, I noticed that the connecting pins of the processor are covered with corrosion.

It seems to me that the corrosion on the board is the result of a manufacturing defect. - Circuit board corrosion is caused by a combination of ionic contamination and moisture in the presence of an applied voltage. Under these conditions, an electrochemical process forms dendrites, which then short circuit components on the board. Although the presence of moisture and voltage is unavoidable in this application, ionic contamination of circuit boards is typically the result of improper cleaning and/or handling by its manufacturer.

The cost of a new control board is 177.85. However, I am very hesitant about buying (another) one of these boards for several reasons: 1)Appliance repair web sites as well as consumeraffairs.com are flooded with complaints involving faulty control boards in Whirlpool appliances. (according to Whirlpool these are only "occasionally failures") 2)Many of the complaints state that they have had to replace their faulty control boards two or more times before eventually giving up and buying a new appliance. 3)Whirlpool denies that there are any problems with their products.

We purchased a Whirlpool oven in 2006. This year, the gas valve went out, making the oven useless. We had if fixed to the tune of about 190, however, a 3 year old product should not go bad!

I purchased a Maytag gas range approx 6 years ago. A few months ago I began smelling gas as the high output burner was lit. I smelt it a few times and I stopped using that burner. I used the other 3 burners. So after a few months not using that burner, I decided to try in. I lit it and put some water to boil, I went to the bathroom and back in about 5 minutes, my house was smelt of natural gas. I immediately turned off the stove and opened all the windows for the house to air out of the gas smelt. I tried another I saw flames coming from under the seal of one of the burners. I immediately turned that one off.

I phoned the gas company to check out the unit. They came and determined the unit is not safe to use. I contact Sears; they said the unit is not under any warranty. I contact the Customer service for Maytag, which is Whirlpool. I contacted Eva 866-. She arranged for WinServ tech to check out the Range. The Tech came and inspected the unit. He determined three of the burners were burnt out and corroded. There were corroded holes in the burners which were allowing gas to escape. Which I think this is clearly an inferior product which was used in producing such a product with could be catastrophic.

Eva has agreed to repair the product, however, after I waited two weeks, which is the timeframe I was told by WinServ - it would take to get the part. I phone WinServ around the 10th day to check on the schedule for the service - I was informed that Whirlpool is not going to pay for the repair. I was very upset by such news to hear that a large company who made a defective product cannot repair the unit.

I had to spend 1500 for a new range. I could not cook for three weeks. I waited for two weeks before I was told Whirlpool will not repair the unit. I waited another week to resarch another and ordered a new unit.

I bought my range 01/21/08, so I've only had it for 14 months... The back digital panel has exploded...The Large front eye quit working...Then the stove stopped working...So if your gonna buy from Whril Pool make sure you purchase the EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN... because you're gonna need it. So now my stove works when it wsnts to... And when it does work i'm scared to death to use it...But they can't replace my stove for these reasons... I payed 578.00... They keep paying someone to come fix it... Wheres the Logic.
