WARNING. I never would have purchased a Whirlpool Glass Cooktop if I had known this. Our Whirlpool glass cook top exploded sending shards of glass across our kitchen nearly hitting our children. I called Whirlpool and they sent a technician to view the damage and the technician agreed that the glass terribly fragmented. What concerns me with Whirlpool is the lack of acknowledgement and the nonchalance attitude of the severe safety issue.

In addition, I am dismayed at their lack of responsibility for the catastrophic failure of this piece of equipment. Their reply was, Well glass will explode if it has a fissure and becomes heated. There was no warning anywhere in the instruction manual regarding this possibility! They said they considered it an assumed risk and that I should have realized this could be an issue. (I must have missed that class in physics.) If I had even the remotest idea that this could have occurred in my home I never would have purchased the product! Warning to those that follow!

The cooktop was totally destoyed and we had to purchase a new cooktop.

Purchased a Whirlpool range with a black ceramic top. The black ceramic top is fading. Servicemen agreed and replaced, and identical problem occurred. A call was put through to Corporated Headquarters. Reply was as follows; It is cosmetic and let us to believe that we have to live with it and offered us 100. This is not acceptable. We wish to get another model range or a complete refund. We hope that you can help us with this problem. Thank You!

On Christmas day while I was putting dinner in the oven, I placed two casserol dishes on the top shelf of the oven and the shelf fell, because the shelf slats were too small, and could not support the casserol's. When the shelf fell, I called one of my dinner guests to help me, and while he was trying to lift up the shelf, he burned his elbow on the oven door. Food was laying on the bottom of the oven, and we had to let the oven cool to clean it, (all of this while my guests had to wait for dinner.)

I called the store manager and he said to come in and pick out another range. When I got there, the manager was very nice, and, very helpful. I showed him the range that I purchased, and when he pushed the rack at the corner, it fell. He was amazed, and said that it is unsafe, and needs to be reported. He checked the other same models and the rack fell on them also. I am not sure of the Model #, but the only number on my receipt is SO244JF2 1054627.

I told the manager that I wanted to order another range, but NOT a WHIRLPOOL. And I hope that Whirlpool fixes the problem, before someone gets seriously injured. My dinner guest still has a scab on his elbow, and I feel terrible about it. And I am sorry that I am the person that had to deal with the problem. I have purchased a Whirlpool washer and drier (Cabrio he) a year ago, and I love them, and have had no problems with them. So when I needed a new range, I chose to purchase a Whirlpool, and I was very unhappy with with my choice.
