Our Whirlpool dishwasher (SAR=FU1109489; MOD=DU1055XTSS2) does not wash the dished anymore and I have a extended warranty on the item (bought on Apr 2007). I cannot settle a service appointment with Whirlpool because they do not have an after 4PM program and when we called they gave us a 8 hour frame. This means that we need to take a day off just to wait for Whirlpool? We just not afford to do this. This is just innacceptable!

Dishwasher does not wash the dishes anymore!

On Thanksgiving night 2008, I discovered our kitchen floor was wet and that water was coming in from under the counters next to my kitchen sink. Further investigation found that our dishwasher was the culprit. Inside the dishwasher were two holes in the plastic tub at the bottom of the washer. These holes appeared to be from burns which most likely came from the heating element. I cannot determine the exact mechanism which created these holes but they were the cause of the water.

As we looked further, we found that the water had been leaking out for some time as we had been infested with Mold. As a result, we had to have our kitchen remediated by mold remediation experts. Our home insurance company State Farm will not cover the remediation or rebuilding of our kitchen. They will cover the water damage and not the mold. Our kitchen had beautiful granite counter tops which had to be removed because of the remediation work. We estimate that the cost of rebuilding our kitchen will be in excess of 20,000.00.

I have contacted Whirlpool Legal department in hopes of filing a damages claim, but have not heard back from them as of today. This seems to be a great product liability case which extends into the rebuilding of the kitchen. Out of pocket for meals 2,000. Remediation of Mold 3,500.00 Rebuilding of Kitchen & Dinning room 20,000.+

We purchased what we thought was the top-of-the-line Whirlpool dishwasher (Quiet Partner) in March of 2008. What an amazing machine ... dishes clean, very quiet operation ... perfect (so we thought). In September of 2008 we noted that the soap dish was not opening and we had to open the door and pop the dish open manually. Called A&E (Lowe's contracted repair people) and scheduled a repairman to come out. He did an inspection and ordered a new part. When the part arrived (a week or so later) we called and scheduled for a repairman to come install it.

A few weeks after the new soap dish was installed it became almost impossible to get the dishwasher to run. Another scheduled visit from A&E .. another replacement part ordered. Another installation scheduled for the new replacement part. A few weeks later .. another problem. Another scheduled visit .. another part ordered. The part is here and we will see the by now very familiar A&E panel truck pull into our driveway next week. In the interim, however, not only does the soap dish once again not open .. we cannot start the dishwasher regardless of the order in which we push the buttons.

The A&E repairman has already informed us that Whirlpool will NOT replace the entire dishwasher .. they just don't do that. So here we are with a beautiful dishwasher that doesn't work and we are resigned to handwashing dishes and wondering why there are no longer American made products available. We will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool product!

This has been the most frustrating, exhausting experience and because wires have melted and shorted out some parts of the dishwasher I feel that I should stand by while (when) it runs, fire extinquisher in hand, just in case.

i bought a whirlpool dishwasher quiet partner 1 DU1048XTPS in 2005. Service had to be called before the 1 yr warranty ran out. The washer errored out and the clean light was blinking. Service told me to to hit the high temp wash and heated dry buttons in that order twice to reset due to water not being hot enough.

Washer continued to do this and finally just won't reset anymore and is not under warranty anymore. I am not even going to bother to call service but am going to replace with a non whirlpool washer

I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner IV dishwasher that is about 18 months old. It is not drying my dishes well and they need to be hand dried AFTER the heat dry cycle. If you don't hand dry them, the dishes grow mold when put into the cabinet. After spending 700 on a dishwasher I should not have to hand dry the dishes. Whirlpool said that since my warrenty is over I need to call Best Buy because that is where I have my extended warrenty. The Geek Squad said there is nothing they can do and that they said that they contacted whirlpool and I will have to hand dry dishes before putting them away. That is absurd! Who should have to do that. That defeats 1/2 the purpose of haveing a dishwasher. The other 1/2 is the washing. Who spends 700 to have to hand dry their dishes????

My dishes/bowls have grown mold at least 3 times and I have had to replace them. Plus, the health hazard that is created from the mold growth....
