USA All Points Moving and Storage

Gaithersburg, MD

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I contracted with these movers a month ago after getting quite a few quotes. I signed my contract and set my moving date. A few days before the move, Tom the manager called me to request a change in the moving date. He requested that they come for my things a week later than the original date. I told them absolutely not! My lease was ending and I was going out of state immediately after the move. He stated that he could no longer move me on the Thursday, so we agreed on the Friday. But the Friday morning as early as possible at 9:00AM because I had a flight and was required to clean the apartment.

The night before, he called again and gave me a hard-luck story about a customer who had more things than they thought and told me that they could not make the move the next day until about 1:00PM. My fianc spoke to them and told them that that would not work with our schedule. Tom then stated after an attitude that they would find a storage that night and offload her things so that they could make my move.

The morning of the move, the driver, Eric, called me and told me that he was still in Upstate, NY and would not make it to my place until 1:00PM. They arrived at 1:00PM and looked at my furniture and stated that it was "bigger" than expected and that it is nice furniture so they would have to add another $570.00 because it would take up too much space. We then called Tom the manager, who told us that he was not making any money off of my move and that my move was not going to make him rich so we could find another moving company or pay the difference. He went on to say that I rented space in his truck and since they had underestimated based on their estimate, I could pay the difference or he would tell his guys to leave. To me, this is called extortion. He then stated he would take off $100 and do the move for $1,700 all included. We agreed and the guys started to pack up my 2 bedroom apartment. 5 hours later, they were still not done and we were in danger of missing our flight and the leasing office closing. That is when my fiance jumped in and moved the furniture in the last room into the hallway for them. He was done moving that room in 10 minutes! He then took them to the garage and reviewed with them that these boxes contained my dining table, the rails for my canopy king bed, and mirror for my dresser (we had boxed them up for them). The driver assured my fiance that everything would go and they would take care of it all and close the garage.

We did the walkthrough with the leasing office and turned in the keys. As a result of the walkthrough, we were assessed $150 because we were not able to vacuum the apartment, since the movers took so long. We then drove to NYC to catch our flight. Which we did not make!

The next morning, our neighbor called my fiance and told him that our garage was open and that there were several boxes in my garage. What? I called the moving company several times the next day and got no answer. My fiance called from a different number and got an answer and talked to an office worker who stated a manager would call us. 4 hours later, still no call. I called again and got hold of Tom. He told me that he had instructed the driver to leave the things in the garage because my things were taking up too much room in his truck and he was not making any money. He went on to say that they should have charged me $2,300. He also stated that I should hire another mover to come get my things from his storage facility as they were going to lose money on my move even with the $400 increase. I told him I expected my things in Florida on the agreed to date. We will see how this move turns out!

Based on Tom's attitude and disrespectfulness, I am guessing there will be another $500 increase in fees at the time of delivery, if they ever deliver my things. These movers are extortionists! Do not use all points moving, even if your life depend on it.

I filed a complaint with www.consumeraffairs.com on 5/26/11 and since that time I have spoken with Joseph and the complaint has been resolved to my satisfaction. I now consider this complaint closed. Feel free to contact me if there are any questions. Thank you!

USA All Points Moving and Storage quoted me $70/hour for 3 men (one of whom was caught sleeping in the truck most of the day) for a one bedroom house local move with furniture only. They over-wrapped everything, and wrapped items I specifically told them not to wrap. They got to my house at 8am and did not start loading the truck until 3PM. I paid a deposit of $100 and half-way through the move they charged me $700, which I thought was for the remainder of the charges, but when we got to the destination they tried to charge me another $2700! They held my stuff hostage and I called the police. The police talked to them and said that they would release my possessions if I paid $1500 plus another $414 (not sure what those two charges were for).

I argued with the owner on the phone for at least an hour (2 hours total went by with no action). He was a rude, angry man who was very disrespectful to me, yelling at me and hanging up the phone on me several times. He admitted that he charged my debit card the $1500 without my authorization. I had no choice but to sign the charge slips under duress. The driver asked me to sign a form to confirm the end time of the move, but since we were at a stalemate for 2 hours of that time, I marked out the hour of 9PM and wrote in 7PM and initialed that time.

After reluctantly paying them the money, the movers refused to unload the truck. So my boyfriend, family and friends all unloaded the truck ourselves (I have pictures to prove this). They were supposed to unload and reassemble everything & remove the trash and they didn't do any of that as contracted. They also left a big mess of packing materials & trash at the old house. The only unwrapping they did was to get the blankets off the furniture so that they could recover them, which was done inside the truck. Additionally, the driver entered the charges onto the form that I signed and only after I signed it and without me initialing it. He wrote that the est. cost would be $700-1500, but then tried to charge me a total of $3500. They are scammers!
