So I purchased a new Toro because my last one kept going for 20 years. When I got this home I realized that you have to engage the blade to start it and not run it unless the blade is engaged. So you have to mow when taking it from the shed to the lawn. Poor design. Then I started looking at this POS. Seems very cheaply made. My old one would start with 2 pulls no matter how cold it was. This thing takes at least 4 to 6 pulls before it will start. So on my 4th mowing with this POS the rear wheel fell off while mowing my front yard.
The mower dropped and gouged up my lawn before I was able to stop it. It took me an hour to find the parts and then had to take off the other wheel to see how to put it back together correctly. While completing this I noticed how cheaply this mower is made. Too bad because Toro used to stand for quality. Also I still have another 20 year old Toro which is still going. I can mow my entire yard on one tank os gas with that one. Today the new POS took a tank and a 1/4 to do the same yard.

This has got to be the worst grass catcher design I have ever seen. Grass blows all over me when I mow. Emptying catcher leaves, more grass falling out the in the catcher. Very disappointing! Do better!

I brought my 22" Personal Pace 163cc Toro gas lawn mower over the holiday weekend. During my first use, and within the first pass of the front yard, the rear wheel fell off. I did contact Lowe's customer service, where I bought it. I did try to replace it but returning it was frustrating. I had to wait for pick-up then 10 more days to have a refund processed. It was on sale when I bought it and the model was not available so I could buy the smaller model 150cc for the same price I paid for mine, or I could pay more for a model with similar features that cost more.
Had they simply replaced the lawn mower with the same or similar, I might have a different review - I did not have or use the equipment long. I was told Toro was the best and splurged a little thinking I would never have to buy another lawn mower again. The only thing I never have to buy again is a Toro and Lowes has lost a long-time customer.

Toro customer service sucks **. Will never get a Toro again. So pissed. They will not honor the warranty directly and told me I have to go to the dealer (if did not buy it from they only assembled and delivered). I called the 3rd party and they stated I had to bring it to them (even though they installed in incorrectly). I don't have the means of bring it and they basically said too bad. So spread the word....just glad they were not in front of me...

Purchased Toro Push Mower from Lowes and used it twice and then it wouldn't start. Contacted Toro as it was still under warranty. They pushed me off to an "Authorized Service Center". When I took it to them they immediately say the mower has known issues and they work on them a lot. After inspection they tell me it needs a new carburetor and that it was estimated to cost $168 to fix and that it was not covered under warranty. Again I used the mower twice. Furious I contact Toro again and they continued to refer me back to Service center and that they have no responsibility and the decisions are determined by service center. How is a faulty carburetor not a manufacturer defect?

I bought a Toro 22 in. Recycler Lawn Mower, and I regret it every time I mow. Let's start with the positive aspects. It starts easily, which can reassure users, and is lightweight. There are many negatives. It has a small gas tank, and the bagger sits so low that it falls off going down a hill. It also falls off when you turn. Grass shoots out by the left front tire and around the bagger. The Toro also leaves clumps of grass all over the yard. When you back up with the mower, there is a pile of grass. The salespeople at Ace have no knowledge of these mowers; I would not recommend this mower. When I called the company, the consultant told me to read my owner's manual!

Never ever buy a Toro lawnmower. I would give a zero star if I could!!! I purchased a self propelled toro 140cc mower this past May for $400.. After 5 months of use the lawnmower...wouldn't start... It comes with a supposed 2 year guaranteed to start guarantee, which is a bunch of nonsense and lies... Since there is no human to speak to at toro. Sad to have an American made lawn mower with this horrible quality... I thought buying American would help the economy.... No wonder why people are buying overseas lawn mowers!!! I took the mower to an authorized repair shop... They charged me $88 dollars to repair it even though I shouldn't have paid anything since it should be under warranty...
When I picked up the lawnmower it ran for about 1 hour and wouldn't start again... The repair shop said it needed an engine because it was ran with no oil... How could that be on a 5 month old mower? They told me nothing else could be done....Toro is doing absolutely nothing for me and I'm out almost $500... I will never buy another toro lawnmower again and warn people that they are overpriced junk...

Ah yes, gather 'round, folks, for the epic saga of how Lowe’s managed to lose a $3,346.92 sale over a $50 battery—and somehow made me feel like the unreasonable one. So, on October 5, 2025, I made what I thought was an exciting, adult purchase: a shiny new Toro 42" zero-turn riding mower from the Clay, NY Lowe’s (Store #5095). After coughing up over three grand, plus tax (because joy isn't free), I waited eagerly for my new toy to arrive.
The mower was delivered on October 7. That afternoon, I geared up, ready to mow like a suburban king... and nothing. The battery wasn’t just dead—it was in a battery coma. No clicks, no lights, no sign of life. Awesome! Thanks, Lowe’s, for delivering something that had literally one job—to start. Thinking this was a one-time fluke (ah, sweet naïve optimism), I trotted over to Walmart to buy a battery charger—because apparently when you spend $3,000+, your next task is to resurrect your own lawn equipment. Charged it a bit—still dead. Charged it overnight—miracle! It started. I mowed. Yay, success. End of story? LOL, no.
One week later, I return for Round 2 with my new mechanical steed. Guess what? DEAD. AGAIN. Apparently, Toro stands for “Totally Out of Reliable Output.”So I call Lowe’s. The person I’m transferred to in the “mower department” makes a toaster look like a genius. He takes my info and says he’ll talk to the manager (spoiler: a phrase you’ll hear a lot in this circus). He calls me back (shockingly fast—credit where credit's due) and informs me that I’ll need to contact Toro myself because the battery is under warranty.
Oh, so I need to go chase down the manufacturer for the battery that Lowe’s delivered dead-on-arrival? Makes total sense. I then ask if Lowe’s could, I don’t know, just replace the battery? I mean, basic customer service? Nah. He says that’s what his manager told him to say. Naturally, I ask to speak to said manager. He refuses. I ask for the manager’s name. “I’m not going to give you her name,” he says, apparently moonlighting as a CIA agent protecting national secrets.
Eventually, the elusive manager calls. Her name? Elisha. Last name? "Elisha." (Twice.) I had to request it three times like I was trying to unlock a boss level in a video game. She finally gives me the full name, presumably real. She explains that this happens all the time with Toro batteries (comforting!) and that if I want a replacement, I’ll need to bring the battery in, wait for manager approval, and maybe they'll swap it. Oh, and no—they won’t just bring me a working battery and take the dead one back. Because, clearly, that would make too much sense. I tell her, fine—forget it. Just come pick up the mower. I’m done. She then tries to guilt-trip me with, “You’d rather return the whole mower than bring in the battery?” Ma’am… you’d rather lose a $3,300 sale than deliver a functioning battery?
So yes, Lowe’s is now sending a truck to come retrieve their shiny, non-functional mower. A grand customer service victory! Congrats to everyone involved on a job terribly done. Lowe’s, thank you for this magical experience. You’ve taught me never to spend another dime in your store—anywhere in the country. Lucky for me, Home Depot is literally across the street, and they seem to know how batteries work. Goodbye forever, Lowe’s. I’d say it’s been a pleasure, but… you know.

I purchased a Toro model # 21463 22” Recycler mower in June of 2025. I really wanted to like this mower but was very disappointed with its performance. If the lawn is even a little wet it leaves lawn clipping behind. I end up going over the cut lawn again to make sure the clipping gets all picked up. Also this mower is suppose to start on the first or second pull, that’s not always the case. On occasion when I stop to empty the bag sometime it decide not to start. I end up having to use starting fluid to get it to go, very frustrating. I live in the Pacific Northwest and our spring seasons are more on the wet side than dry side. Now that I got it back after 8 times in warranty I can't go 10 feet without it stalling out. All summer out. If 16 mows it only worked 3 times for the full yard. I purchased your product from Lowe's in April 2024 for $549 and I registered it on your website. During my first use the plastic piece holding the cable for self propulsion broke off and I had to return it to Lowe's for replacement which was a hassle but after that I used it successfully for a number of months. I cleaned the air filter after each use and checked the oil periodically as per your instruction manual and added oil as necessary. In May 2025 after a month of use I was unable to get the mower to start as per your guarantee of quick start. I took it to a Toro authorized repair facility: Capitol Repair Services 6566 West Broad Street Richmond, VA 23230 and they told me they needed to change the oil. I told them that your instruction manual indicated that was not necessary. He was able to cover some of the work under the product warranty but I was still charged $75.00 for some of it.
I was in a rock and a hard place if I wanted to mow my lawn. This week (08/12/25) my self propel stopped working and I was able to change the belt with the help of my son-in-law. I was surprised this needed replacement so soon. It looked worn and after replacement the self propel worked again. Now the Briggs and Stratton engine is not maintaining power during mowing especially after some use. I am totally dissatisfied with this mower and all the problems I have had in such a short time mowing my lawn every week. I don’t mind doing the basic regular maintenance as prescribed in your user’s manual but it is not holding up to the use in my yard. I am open to a replacement mower to rectify this situation. Trying to contact y'all on the phone to discuss this problem is a complete frustration and waste of my time as no one answers or ever gets back to me!

We bought a 54” Timecutter Max Havoc Zero Turn Model #77506 costing $4500 at Tractor Supply Company in Collierville, TN 6/24/24. It JUST turned one year old. We have had Ariens (lasted 20 yrs), John Deere Lawn Tractor (lasted 18 yrs). We were told Toro was a very good mower. We live on 5-1/2 acres, but two acres we’ve left wooded. Very impressed with the motor and power. Primary reason I bought was the Kawasaki engine. I’ve owned construction equipment through the years.
NOW be ready to replace an expensive belt regularly. I’ve had three break in the last month. I feel I made a huge mistake with this expensive purchase. After reading different reviews online, this is a real problem. I’m not sure how I can keep this mower and WOULD NOT recommend. Started breaking belts shortly after I purchased it, but that’s not covered by warranty. Plan to talk to my Toro dealer and see what they can tell me, and if I have any options to trade it. Buyer beware.

Toro Super Recyler - 2025 junk. I've mowed my lawn for over 20 years with a Honda. Finally wore it out. Thought I would by the Toro high end recycle. This what you can expect if you mow the lawn that is very dry, very short and I change mow pattern every time I mow:
- Plan to mow twice or three times to pick up the 'tire' clumps.
- Plan to run your leaf bower over the yard to scatter all the clumps of cut grass that would otherwise leave ugly brown dead grass on your lawn.
- When (if) you contact Toro, plan to have the 'too bad for you' customer support.
- Plan to live with the 'Mohawk effect' and long uncut grass.
- When you take it back to your local dealer plan for them to tell you nothing's wrong with the mower.

I replaced my 20 year old Craftsman lawn mower with a Toro. I should have done better research. The model I purchased just couldn't stand up to my old Craftsman. For some reason Toro has decided to make an extremely small bag for most of their mowers. Might be good on a tiny lawn but not so anything bigger. I did some research after I purchased it and found many have the same complaint. Also that the cut debris blows out the front instead of into the bag. To make it worse, Toro responds to the reviews that the manual should be read. As if that will fix their design defects. Ended up with a new Dewalt with a 2.3 bushel bag. So now I will sell my Toro.

Self- propelled Z wire clamp had broken due to fatigue crack after 3 years of use. Very poor design. Try gluing and using ferrule with another Z wire clamp; but cable pulled out gain. I had taken it to a lawn mower repair shop now and accept to pay approximately $150.00 after I pick up my lawn mower from the repair shop. I had paid a little more than $400 for the lawn mower originally.
For the last week, I had minorly strained my left wrist trying to push the lawn mower going up the hill because of extra effort in trying to finish in mowing my lawn. The engineers who design this cable need to check for fatigue bending stress range for cyclic loading in the Z Clamp. Should use fatigue endurance limit in the design with a factor of safety of 2 for the fatigue stress range on the Z clamp. The lawn mower otherwise still runs good, starts good and properly cuts the lawn O.K. It was purchased on 3/22/2022. The Model is TORO 22 inch Recycler Lawn Mower. I rated it a 2 mainly because that I had received a minor strain injury from the engineering design flaw.

I bought the Timemaster from HD May 2024. I was pretty excited in the beginning thinking it would cut the mow time by a third. Yes, I read the reviews about the small gas tank and the pully system blowing up. I chose to turn a blind eye and go after the features like a 30" cut, self pacing, easy start, and easy height adjustment. All of which have been really nice. The small gas tank is a nuisance to say the least. Cannot mow one acre with a lot of twists and turns without refilling once. The engine could stand to add 1-2 more HP because it will bog down if you have a patch of thick blade grass like St Augustine. But the real kick in the seat has been the exploding pully system.
While mowing my dried up Bermuda grass from the Texas August drought, the pully system exploded. Trust me, you will know it when it happens. OK, just another nuisance because the warranty covered the repair. But wait, the totally trashed blades caused by this systemic system failure are not covered under the warranty because they are considered a maintenance item. Let's ignore I have only used the mower for three months and when the pully system exploded it took the blades with them. OK fine, I will deal with it. I finished August, Sept, Oct mowing with no issues. Roll forward to 2025. Second mowing. Not much grass yet because it is still starting to come in. Then the second kick in the seat. Pully system exploded again. I’ll take it in for warranty, no problem. But wait. The shop called. Said Toro refused the warranty claim because a repair was performed Aug 2024 and it was good for only three months. Really?
The three-year manufacture warranty really means you can only use it once? Kind of funny because I am looking at extended warranty offer from Toro for 1 or 2 years. I would really have felt the pain if I had bought the extended warranty only to find out that it did not cover repeat systemic failures. Two in less than a year! I am going to pay for the repairs and a new set of blades. But take to heart that there is a problem with the pully system. To be fair, I have two 22" cut Toro mowers, one purchased in 2002, that are superior in all regards.

The bagger was shipped with a missing Weight Bracket. This is a $32 part. Toro will not send the missing part, they told me I have to get the part from Lowe’s or another certified supplier or return the entire bagger and order a new one. Lowe’s can’t get the part directly from Toro so they would have to buy one from another retailer at their own expense or take a return of my bagger and ship a new one. All for a $32 part that Toro failed to provide. If I have to return the bagger, Lowe's and Toro will waste a lot more than $32 of money and time to get a complete bagger kit to their customer. I had service center again pick up lawn mower and this time, the clutch locked up on it and it blew a fuse. That is why it stopped running and it had nothing to do with me. I paid almost $3500 for this mower and I will never buy a Toro again.
