Perfect Flame Gas Grills

William of Pacific, MO August 18, 2009

Purchased Perfect Flame Grill fro Loews in Wahington, Mo in 2008.In July 2009 the entire grill erupted in fire while grilling. Later inspection indicated the two ot the three "stainless steel"burners had rusted through-with large rusted holes.Cannot replace the corroded burners and corroded heat shields due to price and terrible product.Internet reports extensive complaints of product quality and danger.I feel Loews should be cupable and responsible for selling inferiot product.Stainless steel should not rust-corrode so fast or extensive.Nest grill will be a Weber and not from Lowes.

Purchased Perfect Flame Gas Grill, Had grilled several times with no problem until this past Sunday. I had been cooking chicken like I have before in the past and I had the grill on low for slow cooking. About half hour later went to check on the chicken and flames were shooting out the back of the grill. The chicken was black and singed the dome of the grill appearently had some kind of coating that peeled and was hanging off the dome cover and pieces in my chicken.

This grill cost over 500.00 and now its crap. I had a grill that lasted for 10 years without incident and that old one cost me 99.00. You would think paying more you would have a great grill that would last at least 15 or more years. Not this Perfect Flame. Now what do I do? ANy suggestions on reimbursement from either Lowes or manufacturer? Help!

Andre of Redford, MI August 3, 2009

Perfect Flame Model # SLG2008A I had just cleaned it 3 weeks ago (after 4th of July weekend)and put chicken on the grill to BBQ I was out there and all was ok. Went in house to get BBQ sauce and came back out and grill was literally on fire. Turned burners off and pulled chicken off and it was still going like made. Started to squirt with water to bring under control and put lid down. Still no good. Looked under grill and saw the hose was on fire and melted. Yelled at family to get the heck out of house since if tank exploded it would take out back of house. Wife came out with flour and we threw it on the fire and it went out.

Tank was hotter than heck and took a while to cool down. Wish I could post pictures to let you know what it looked like. I cleaned it on 8-1-09 to see what parts I need but the grill is toasted or just scrap metal. Hoses all burned off and the Burner controls are shot. (must of melted them after I turned the burners off while flames being fed from burned out melted hose).

All of the years of grilling, this was the Icing of the cake. The last gas grill lasted me ten years and was still going when the kids bought me this one. Only reason why they got me this was because I could not find a replacemnt rotisserie unit for the old grill.

Singed Hair and minor burn on hand. (trying to turn gas off on propane tank).

I purchased the Perfect Flame Grill model SLG2008A in the summer of 2008. We grilled on it without incident for a few months when it was put away for winter. I left for a tour in Afghanistan and returned just two weeks ago. The grill had been in storage since October of 2008, so I cleaned the entire thing, inside and out before putting it to use. The first thing I notice after firing it up, is that the burners are putting out weak flames. After re checking all of the connections with no improvement, I went and exchanged my propane tank (it was not empty; nearly 2/3's full, but I thought, what the heck). No improvement.

I let the grill cool down and began a serious dissasembly only to discover that the first and second burners were cracked completely through. I had used the grill only a handful of times, stored it for winter and now the thing won't work at all? To add to my excitement over this new chore I have to undertake just to grill a steak on my back porch, the replacement parts combined add up to damn near the original price of the grill. Sweet. Imagine my instant joy to discover that an item I purchased from an Lowe's, a company that I give too much of my hard earned money too anyway, had pushed a crap product that was made in China only to be sold to unwitting Americans at the "incredible deal exclusive to Lowe's-lets-build-something-together?" Nice. Hey Lowe's, here's an idea; why don't you stock some products made right here in America? That be a GREAT way for us to "build something together".

We bought our two year old Perfect Flame 4 burner BBQ from Lowes. It has suffered the exact same problems as we have read on the consumer report pages. Comforting to know this has happened to others...but not really. What a waste of nearly 400.00. The burners are rusted and in pieces. The brackets are rusted and disformed. We keep it under our covered deck and under a BBQ cover. It still "looks" nice. It is a piece of garbage on the inside. Luckily the 2 times it caught on fire (NEVER have we had a BBQ do this!)nothing serious happened. We have decided that after waiting on hold for 45 minutes with the 800 number, that there is no point in contacting the company or buying any of their products ever again. They should be out of business and Lowe's should not carry this product line.

Fred of Kingsley, PA July 23, 2009

Reporting problem that has been mentioned in other complaints. Approx 2 years ago I was grilling (steaks) on the 4 burner model of the Perfect Flame grill when a fire developed in the base of the unit that spread to the gas regulator hose causing it to melt in half and expel gas onto the flame. Grill was away from structures and I extinguished flames with a garden hose and turned off the gas before explosion. Definitely a faulty design in my opinion. Also burners prematurely rusted and one has split down the side.

James of Royersford, PA July 21, 2009

I purchased a "Perfect Flame" grill on March 22, 2009, model # SLG 2008A. I have used the grill with great satisfaction approximately a dozen times. Last nite, July 20,2009, the grill caught fire after having grilled chicken for dinner. The fire got to the point where it burnt the line to the tank in half. I had to reach and shut off the tank that was now acting like a flame thrower......I was lucky to get away with burns on my hands. I have just moved to this brand new townhouse.....the deck is on the second floor attached to the house. I was lucky the grill did not burn down the house and other ten units. I have not contacted LOWES yet.....but I am glad to see that others have had issues with the same Manufacturer......as this apparently was not just a freak accident. Needless to say I won't be purchasing another grill marked " PERFECT FLAME". Who else should I be reporting this to???? I would not want this to occur to anyone else....as it is LIFE threatening and could have resulted in deaths.

Michael of Independence, KY July 20, 2009

We purchased a Perfect Flame Grill from Lowes in Florence, Ky in June of 2007 for my husband's birthday. On his birthday this year, June 8, 2009, I was grilling for my family to come for their Dad's birthday. All of a sudden the grill began shooting flames out of all the openings. I turned off the knobs and kept the lid closed hoping the fire would die out. To the contrary; the fire got out of control. I was pulling the grill away from the railing of the deck so as to keep my house from catching on fire when my neighbor came over to help me. He couldn't believe how raging the flames had become. He got his hose from his yard and was able to somehow put out the fire with water. We actually couldn't believe that worked. I was so scared that my house would catch fire. Needless to say the grill is a total loss. All the wires and hoses are burned and the outside of it is all rusted now. This is a big loss for us since my husband lost his job in December 2008 and took a new one at 60% less pay.

Cyndi of Gretna, LA July 17, 2009

We purchased a Perfect flame Grill from Lowe's Home Improvement for 1000.00 The Model # Is SLG2006C. It is stainless steel..but has RUSTED. The grill has caught on fire with flames coming from the back and the temperature of the grill was beyond the highest on the meter. Since the fire the burners & flame protector have total disintegrated with the protective coating removing and the burners turned into rusted disformed unusable grates..I am sure this in very unhealthly to grill on. And to replace the parts are about 300.00 which was suppose to be covered under a warranty...NOT!!! If you can contact the company...from CHINA....ha! Lowe's is losing alot of business cause I do not shop there any more...they need to recall these grills before someone gets really hurt or a house burns down...this is a very dangerous problem....thank you

Jerry of Lima, OH July 16, 2009

We purchased our Perfect Flame grill from Lowe's in July, 2007. Last month we had to replace the burners (they should have lasted longer than two years), then last night, while cooking, the unit caught fire, and almost took the house with it. Perfect Flame must be out of business, because they cannot be contacted. We paid over 600.00 for this piece of crap that should have lasted longer than 2 years, not to mention the fire hazard it caused.
