It Looks like a Lawn Mover. It sounds like a Lawn mover but my MURRAY SELECT 22 with a 6.25 QUAMTUM motor that claims 2n1 MULCH/BAG certainly doesn't perform like one. The motor seems good but it doesn't have the ability to mulch or bag. I think the body design must be bad because when you choose to mulch. All the grass just cakes on the inside of the body and when you use the bag. It doesn't have the ability to force the grass to the back of the bag. So it clogs up after about a 15 foot pass on grass about 3 inches tall and the mower on the highest setting. My neighbor bought a toro with the same motor and in all conditions it seems to do the job just fine.

My Murray lawn mower leaks gas out of the tank. It's a nightmare.

This mower could blow up!

I bought a murray lawnmower in sept 2004. I didnt have any problems with it the first year but since last summer its been a source of constant headaches. It frequently wont start despite my regualar maintainance. I've changed the spark plugs, oil and kept the engine as clean as possible

When I first purchased my Murray model 229610X8A from Home Depot, I had to take it back twice to replace the transmission. It is now melted, again since it was made of a mica material and now it is impossible to find a replacement part. It is a good operating mower when it works but it is hard to push with the front wheels off the ground!

Over the last year, my father has purchased FOUR Bolens MTD 414 Lawn mowers from Lowes. Each lawn mower has suffered the exact same fate---it works good for the first two times, then it barely works at all after that. The current lawn mower doesn't stay on for more than 15 seconds before cutting off--even if it's just sitting still. It's hard to start, and even when it does start, it doesn't stay on---and this particular mower is practically new. We only got one and a 1/2 uses out of it before it started to fail.... ...all the previous Bolens/MTD 414 mowers did the EXACT same thing.

So why buy the same model mower FOUR times if it is unreliable? Because, at 159, it appeared to be a bargain and we thought that we perhaps just purchased a lemon the first couple of times. We kept giving the mower and Bolens/MTD the benefit of a doubt... However, now I'm totally convinced that this model mower is just garbage. We've had dirt cheap, 99 mowers that have lasted for years. None of our FOUR Bolens/MTD mowers have even lasted for one whole summer. This is BY FAR the worst, most unreliable mower we've ever used. Pathetic!!
