Lawsuit Charges Mr. Coffee Knew of Problems
Mr. Coffee Named in Scalding Lawsuit

Phyllis of Statesville NC (4/7/03):
I purchased a Mr Coffee Details model #urx33d in late December 2002. It stopped working in mid March 2003. I realize $49.99 is not a fortune, but for us it's a lot. I am ill and unable to work, my husband works very long hours for us, and we haven't much to spare. I think the coffee maker should have lasted longer. I do not have the receipt for it so I cannot return it. I believe this is a very poor product and I don't recommend it to anyone.

Carol of Mt. Hope WV (4/5/03):
I have had 2 Mr.Coffee coffee makers since the last of November. The first one tore up and now the second one is having at least 3 problems. The warmer part is not working unless you unplug the coffeemaker. The delay brew is not working at all. As much as the consumer pays for these coffee makers, you would think they would last longer than 2 months.

Allan of Woonsocket, RI (7/24/00):
I purchased a coffeemaker in April of this year. The decanter is faulty causing steam to burn your thumb every time you pour a cup of coffee. I have an E-Mail from them dated May 4th stating that they would send me a new one within 10 to 12 business days. It has been 55 business days. I can't seem to get any satisfsaction regarding this matter.

Mark of Los Angeles (6/8/00):
I went to my local Rite Aid store and purchased a Mr. Coffee coffee maker for $24.99. I have had it for almost 6 months and it doesn't work. I'm told that they never got my registration form which was the first thing I filled out and sent in to them. They are telling me that I have to send in the coffee maker to them at my expense in order for them to fix and send it back to me since the coffee maker came with a 1 year warranty.

The company cost me an additional $18.00 since I had to buy another coffee maker by Proctor Silex which is an uncomfortable coffee maker to use. I have amputated fingers and the Proctor Silex maker burns the back of my hand each time I pick it up. The reason for getting the Mr. Coffee coffee maker is that it came with a plastic handle that I can use and there is also plastic covering the part of the glass pot which protects my hand from getting burned. I think Proctor Silex as well as Mr. Coffee the companies should show some consideration to people with special needs and make their products safer, and honor the warranties as well.
