I have an LG French door refrigerator that is only 1 1/2 years old (LFC25760SB). The control board that controls the interior lights failed and caused to lights (60 Watt) not to turn off. The interior control unit, mounted on the top inside of the fridge began to smoke and melt. It was hanging down by wires and too hot to touch. I see by others comments that this os a design flaw in many models that if not corrected wil cause a fire and potentially loss of life. I plan to contact the BBB, Underwriters Liabratory and my Attorney General to raise this issue. LG needs to be made responsible for repairs or replacement of these refridgerators. This is a FIRE HAZARD that needs to be corrected.

We purchased an LG LFX23961ST french door refrigerator back in June of 2008. Its only 14 months old. Thank goodness we bought the extended warranty. About a week ago, the Friday before Labor Day, the control panel on the front of this LG read FF ER. I notified the Geek squad. Their policy is to book you you and appt 5 days prior to the visit. So the tech came in, he told me that the freezer fan was not working because the sensor that keeps the ice off the fan was defective. He said that this particular model made in 2005 through 2008 has this defect. He advised me to defrost this appliance for 24 hours.

According to the LG website they only advise your to unplug your appliance for 4 hours. Anyways, he said if this doesn't help than call the Geek Squad to make another appt. Guess what? It didn't work, same problem. Another 5 days later, the tech comes in says the freezer fan in not working... he places an order for parts. I ask him if he can just consider this a lemon and approve a replacement. No deal. Another 5 days later, the parts arrive, we get a technician to come in on Saturday the 12th and attempt to replace the parts and get this thing working. She says that although the previous tech ordered the correct parts, they don't seem to fit in the housing...huh? After seeing our frustration, she makes the call to her management and finally get approved to get this piece of junk out of here.

My wife and I go to Best Buy in West Covina, we are so happy because we think this nightmare is finally over, it's not. We are told that the replacement fridge won't be available and won't be delivered until Oct. 4th. They offer to sell us a refrigerator until we receive ours. We are beyond frustrated, beyond angry. Just dissapointed.

My LG French door refrigerator Model LRFD22850SW,is a tad over 3 years old. The Control Panel is lasting only 1 1/2 years. Replaced 2 times. Contacted company and they said too bad, out of warranty. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD!! Inside light stays on, over heats, melts the cover, and puts a freezer burn on food in the freezer - the whole back part of the freezer is covered with ice.We were LUCKY to catch the problem before it melted the interior. Seems to be a major problem with this refrigerator and can't understand why this isn't recalled as a FIRE HAZARD!! Unbelievable that the LG company is not backing their product! Never to buy any LG product again and will promote to everybody not to purchase LG as well.

Model number LFX21960ST Ser. # 612KRHX00281 Purchased on 03/20/2007 Energy tag was incorrect on the front of the appliance. It actually uses 17.00 more per month or 204.00 per year. Now if you figure that the normal appliance last about 14 years that would come to 2856.00.. We would like to have this made in just one payment to us for 2856.00

I own a 2-year old LG refrigerator (LFX21960ST) and awoke the other day find smoke and melting plastic coming from the lights within this refridgerator. I have found many other complaints like this on the internet and a faulty control board & factory installed high output lights seem to be the culprit. I am going to contact LG in attempt to make them replace this defective part but do not have high hopes based on the run around given to many others with the same problem. This is an obvious safety defect that LG should take responsibility for and remove or replace these defective parts! LG should be placed on notice about this publicized defect and should do everything possible to prevent further damages & possible loss of life.

The ER FF keeps coming. We were told by the LG people to unplug it and it should reset. I lost 300.00 worth of food and the fridge isn't working again. I'm not going to contact an attorney. It's only 2 1/2 years old and Im out of work and dont have the money to buy a new fridge.

Patricia of GREENLAWN , NY September 4, 2009

I bought an LG french door refrigerator in 2005 and have had a repair man there 4 times and still have the same problem. Ice accumulates on the back causing the fan to hit it making noise. LG did extend the warranty for 30 days and had someone come but the noise is starting again. Inside on the top the light melted the plastic covering and the entire part is pulled about 1/2 inch from where it was attached to the inside ceiling of the refrigerator. I also have an LG Tromm washer and dryer that is only 3 years old. The washer broke last week and can get no one to come to fix it. They all say they won't touch LG Appliances. After reading the complaints against these products I do believe there should be some class action against LG to replace or refund these expensive and inferior products.

Herb of Morristown, NJ September 3, 2009

LG refrigerator model LRFC22750TT control board has failed twice in four years. LG denies any responsibility for the parts' failure. I understand from the independent repair man that this happens frequently on this brand. I will never again purchase an LG product.

catherine of fresh meadows, NY August 31, 2009

I purchased an LG french door refrigerator approximately 15 months ago. Within two months I had to replace two plastic drawers which were not under warranty and just last month (one year and one month after the warranty expired) I smelled something burning only to find the light bulb warehouse had burned the lining of the refrigerator. i have been on the telephone with pc richard and LG two months with no satidfaction. Now I read that there have been several complaints about this problem yet no recall from LG! I will never prchase another LG product again!!!

J of Dunrobin, ON August 30, 2009

We bought a LG fridge LF21860 from Best Buy Ottawa in 2007. Last night thought there was a burning smell coming from the appliance, this morning discovered the light stayed on when the door was closed, also the plastic casing was melted and brown. Removed the bulbs, and at the moment using the fridge without the light.
