Some LG Refrigerators To Lose Energy Star Label

Sherrie of Toledo OH (11/19/08)
Have an LG Refrigerator, Model LSC26905TT, which we purchased around 2 years ago from Home Depot. When the frig was less than 13 months old, the icemaker stopped working properly. The tube with the water would pour into the tray, but the mechanism that holds the tray would pour the water out into the ice bin and all over the back of the freezer, pouring water all over the frozen foods and making an icy mess. I called LG to lodge a complaint, to no avail. They said (a person from another country) that since I did not have an extended warranty and the original warranty expired after 12 months, they could not do anything. I explained that it was JUST over the 12 month time period, but they said sorry.

I called LG approximately 5 more times to see if this icemaker was being recalled or if they would send out a repairman, to no avail. We have turned off the icemaker and just make ice with trays manually. Today (11-19-08) I went on the LG website to see if anything new had occurred with the frig, then went to Consumer Affairs and noticed that there must be 100 complaints on the LG icemakers, etc. I then called LG again to see if there was anything they could do. Their response was again, sorry. I have since called a repairman to come to the house to install a new icemaker.

They approximate the cost to be anywhere from 200 to 350.00 - something that I am very upset about, since this is a matter that could have been corrected months ago. The mess the ice has incurred and the time to clean up this mess each time is inexcusable. I will NEVER purchase another LG appliance as long as I live. I am going to have my frig repaired by an independent repairman so that I can enjoy the holidays with plenty of ice! However, once this frig bites the dust for good, I will consider purchasing an American Made Refrigerator! Thank you!

Have not been able to use the icemaker for the entire spring, summer and fall months. Have to make ice by using ice cube trays manually. Have lost frozen food due to the amount of water that poured over the food and froze. This happened not once, not twice, but approximately 15 times. Have lost time because of the clean up involved with this freezer and the ice mess.

Purchased an LG Model4LRBC22544ST BOTTOM FREEZER REFRIGERATOR 12/31/05. On 11.16.08 unit stopped cooling (very warm in fridge part) and got FF errors. Water dispenser never has worked properly. Do not buy products from LG!!!

Lost 200 plus dollars worth of food and unit still doesn't work. Will probably have to purchase a new refrigerator.

When the refridgerator was a year old, the motor in the freezer went out. They fixed that. Now the light switch will not go off. It melted the fixture & all the things in the fridge, butter, etc. It was 80 degrees inside!! Also, water somehow leaks on the freezer, & freezes in the bottom. We will never buy a LG product again.

Even though the doors to the refrigerator (Model LFX25960) were closed, the interior lights remained on all night. In the morning the food was warm and, more importantly, the plastic cover had melted. The part had to come from OVERSEAS! About 6 weeks later the new part was installed. Also, the doors to this refrigerator close with difficulty. I would NEVER by and LG product again because of this experience.

Purchased LG French Door refrigerator March 06. Within 6 months of purchase had problem with error code FF and not cooling. Called LG, was told to unplug unit for 24hrs. Talk about incovenient! Come to find out that water freezes up around fan motor creating a problem. After unit was out of warranty, lights stayed on, melting plastic assembly loose from mounting screws. Removed bulbs and reinstalled temp. unit back into place using larger washers on screws. Then the door latch on top of rt. door broke off. Continual problem with icing up of blower motor, noisey from ice build up and have to use hairdryer on back wall of freezer to quiet unit down. This also seems to cure getting a failure code and no cooling. Appears that moisture from ice maker may be a cause, and might need a shield to keep it from splashing back there.

Lost food several times due to failure codes and no warning! Melted light/temp. fixture.

Worst piece of equipment I have ever purchased. Paid 3 times more for this french door unit over what a regular fridge would have cost.Would never purchase any LG anything, and will warn everyone to do the same.

We purchased our LG Refrigerator model # LFC25760SW from Home Depot in 8-2006. It is about 2 years old and this morning I noticed a burning odor coming from the top portion of the unit. Called customer service and they gave me two phone #'s for repair companies. After research on the net, I found the lights in our unit were not turning off when unit doors where closed. This apparently is a common problem with this particular model that LG has refused to acknowledge or correct. The light sockets were scorched so we removed the light bulbs in both upper and lower areas and unit appears to be cooling at this time with no more burning smell. Unfortunately we can not see anything in our refrigerator!!

I was lucky enough to catch this problem before damage or fire. Thank God I was home!!
