Jean of Johns Island, SC September 28, 2009 Once again LG has done nothing to fix the problems with my refrigerator. The ice maker does not work properly. It quit making ice, but there was one "left over" cube stuck at the top of the bar that drops the ice into the bin. Pne of the numerous customer service reps told me to turn off the icemaker, turn the freezer temp to minus 4 degrees! and place a warm cloth on the ice cube - to melt it. Leave the ice maker off for 1 1/2 hours. Well I did exactly as told and when I opened the ice maker door, the cloth had also frozen solid and I could not get it out. Next they told me to unplug the unit - I finally got the frozen cloth to melt enough to remove it. LG promised to send a repair person out - the repair person has contacted me twice, but says he is still "talking to LG." I am terrified this unit will cause a fire! Mary of Carrollton, VA September 28, 2009 We purchased 4 major applicances last year brand new from Best Buy in Newport News, VA. We purchased an LG side by side stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and range. All stainless steel, all newest models at a cost of 6,000.00. We did not purchase warrantys and while under the one year warranty have had our dishwasher unit replaced, refrigerator doors replaced and mother board on range replaced. Now our microwave is not working at all and no longer under warranty. You can imagine our frustration and after reading all the complaints about LG products wished we would have researched our products better. We now have to make all the repairs out of our own pocket. It appears that several people have similar complaints on LG appliances. Is there any way for us to get restitution. We don't even want the products anymore as once they're fixed it appears they break again. We can't afford to replace them. What do we need to do? Holly of Atlanta, GA September 27, 2009 Bought 1600 LG French door refrigerator...fan burns out in freezer yearly and now the housing around the lights and controls has melted causing an obvious fire hazard. angela of Memphis, TN September 27, 2009 We have a LG three door fridge and the lights/temp module inside the fridge has over heated and melted almost causing a fire. I have read that other people are complaining about the same problem. Why isn't there a recall. My fridge is only 2 years old. S A of CARBONDALE, PA September 25, 2009 After 1 month freezer door has rust marks showing through connot remove with polish. No satisfaction from L/G service. Holly of Winter Garden, FL September 24, 2009 I purchased an LG refrigerator in January of 2007. I did not buy an extended warranty. When the fridge was 8 months old the freezer stopped working. I had it repaired under warranty. In 2007, I had to call for repair when the freezer failed again. Two months ago a plastic clip on the fridge door fell off and now both doors have to be closed extremely carefully each time fridge is opened. The latest thing is the fridge shuts off. First I thought it might be an electrical breaker (we have an old home) but now realize it is the circuit board in the fridge. This is a major problem and will likely cost at least 650. My old, 2nd hand fridge worked for 20 years. I bought the high end LG thinking it would last and be more energy efficient. I plan to replace the stove/oven & dishwasher soon- would I buy another LG appliance? NEVER. donna of johnson city, TN September 23, 2009 we purchased this lg refridgerator for our elderly mother (age 76) because of the lower freezer compartment. At the time we did not know that it was a fire hazzard. She lives alone and this past sunday when we were with her i opened up the fridgerator compartment and noticed that the food and compartment was warm. on futher inspection when the lights were bright and very hot we noticed that the upper controll panel had meltrd away from its srews and was hanging free with the lights still on even you push the buttons to simulate that the doors are shut giveng access to exsposed wires. We brought this product on the basis of the Kenmore-Lg reputation. i guess we should have done more research. We are out of 1,800 dollars for a piece of junk. is this what we get for being lyoal to the kenmore products and believing in [their] company. we have a refrigerator that is a hazzard Thomas of Hampton, NH September 22, 2009 I have a LG French Door refrig model # LFX25960ST that nearly caught fire. The interior lights which has 2 60 watt bulbs wouldn't shut off when door closed, heating up plastic and nearly melting. I had too unplug for period of time to unscrew bulbs and prevent further hazard. Looking online this appears to be a concern with others and should be a recall as potential fire hazard. Jane of Santa Fe, NM September 21, 2009 LG front load washing machine causes clothes and towels to have a disgusting musty odor even when I do the many steps required to stop this.We were never told about "maintenance' when we bought the washing machine nor that at almost 80 years of age we would have to get down on our knees twice a month as only one task wirh a tube at the very bottom of the machine We have been married for 49 years and have never had to do the tasks required to have a washing machine. If anyone had told us, we would have surely bought a different machine. Even so, the clothes still smell disgusting. We are at a loss to know what to do next! Nancy of Metamora, MI September 18, 2009 We own a LG Model #LFX25960XT refrig with bottom freezer. We had issues of parts breaking & hairline cracks on drawers/shelves within 3 mos. of purchase. After 3 wheels had fallen of & shelves breaking we went to Home Depot where we purchased the product, Sinse LG wouldn't honor those breakages because warenty covered only mechanical parts. Home Depot folk were great in cataloging parts & ordering new parts for us which we replaced at home. 3 weeks ago the freezer(on bottom) defrosted. At first I thought the ice maker was acting up. After calling the repair # given (this happened on a Fri) A date was scheduled & the repair person didn't show. Meanwhile the freezer started to work & after a few days items were put back into the freezer. 1 week later a service guy was able to come & he checked the freezer thoroughly but because it was now working he had nothing to fix. At least I have documentation of the issue in case our warrenty runs out & it happens again. Do not know if LG would honor it anyways. We think the workman ship on this LG unit is extremely cheap & will stay away from LG in the future as our LG dishwasher is now making wierd noises . Report Your Experience
