Some LG Refrigerators To Lose Energy Star Label

Andy of Canyon Country CA (03/18/09)
I purchased an over the stove LG microwave oven Dec 2005. Late in 2008 we began getting an F9 error while using it. We would clear it, and it would start working again. In Feb 2009, there was a hard failure, i.e. the F9 code wouldn't clear, and the microwave wouldn't work at all. With a little internet research, I found out that it was probably the magnetron, which has a 10 year warranty. I contacted LG and a local repair company to have it replaced.

They came out and replaced it, but the serial number was obliterated because of cleaning of the surface. LG has refused to cover the magnetron, because the serial number is not available. One e-mail stated LG policies validate the warranty thru the proof of purchase, on the same tag as where the serial number was, is the manufacture date of 2005.

I will never purchase an LG product again. It seems that their warranty is in name only, they don't stand behind the product, and give the consumer conflicting information. Reading other complaints in this forum, I guess I'm lucky that the microwave didn't do more damage.

I may have to pay for the magnetron, even though it's supposed to be under a 10 year warranty.

Lg over the stove microwave went out 6 months after purchase. No longer have receipt and cannot get service. I wish I had read this forum before I bought it. No more LG for me.

Just before Christmas, our LG microwave oven, model LMV1680ST, stopped working. I contacted the LG service center and they gave us the phone number of a local repair company. The repair company techs came out a few days later and determined that some parts needed to be ordered to repair the unit. Two weeks later they came out, replaced a control panel and fuse. Unit still did not work and they left. The repair company owner came out a about a week later and replaced the microwave thermostat. The microwave worked for two days and then went out again.

I have made repeated calls to LG service center and the repair company about the status of fixing the microwave. LG still says they are waiting for the repair company to fax them the work history. The repair company keeps telling me that they faxed the information three times to LG. Now today I talked to an LG superviser at the service center and he, Rick, said the repair company needs to come out at least three times to try to fix the microwave. I've gone through the LG on-line service request web site again, but did not get any feedback from further on-line service requests.

Bought an LG microwave. Failed after 4 months. LG support was bad, service center was worse. After about 2 months of getting repairs done, the unit has failed again, twice in less than 9 months. LG support is still bad. They won't replace the appliance or make any commitment to do so regardless of how many times it has to be repaired.

Also, they won't commit to any future repairs after the 1 year warrantee period, regardless of how many months it is out of service, or how long it has been since the last repair. LG has this ridiculous rule that regardless of whether you register the unit or not on purchase, you have to present the original receipt in order to have any repairs performed. Stay away from LG appliances, stay very far away.

Massive inconvenience.

We purchased the 400 micro in 2006 and it worked until this week. We experienced loud electrical popping sounds and it started on fire behind the panel. Luckily we had an extinguisher and put the fire out. The unit is dead after only 2 yrs.

Our over head cabinet was scorched, my wife was scared to death the house was going to burn down. No more LG over the range microwaves or other LG appliances in our house again.
