On Feb.3, 2012, the microwave stopped heating. A complaint was lodged with complaint no. **. A mechanic came on the 4th night and told me some parts were burnt and will be replaced on Monday, Feb. 5, 2012, but he did not turn up. Contacting him, he said parts were not available. I have 5-year warranty. This is the first time it happened. Model no. MH4048GWADRQEIL, serial 013EMKUOO6301. Date of purchase, 26/4/11. AMC end date, 24/4/17 - 5 years. Now what should I do? Extra 5 years warranty was purchased and here I am helpless. Should anybody believe that parts are not available on such a huge company running throughout the country? Request to repair immediately. Thanks.

I bought the LG Microwave LMV1680ST and the magnetron died. LG has the magnetron warranty for 10 years, but don't be fooled, it has to be replaced by their service people which cost almost the price of the new microwave. They will not ship replacement parts to customer.

LG Microwave Oven Model LRM1260SW. I purchased it in 2009 at Best Buy for $200.00. At the time, this was considered to be a high-end price for a table top microwave oven. We noticed that the turntable was sticking. My son looked at the rotating ring that supports the glass turntable and noticed that there were pieces of plastic flashing that had not been cut away after the part came out of the injection molding machine. So we cut the flashing off and the turntable worked fine. Then a month later, the light bulb burnt out. We haven't yet replaced it because we don't yet have the right tool to open that part of the oven wall to get at the bulb.
Then we noticed a burning smell that occurred sometimes when we used the oven. It smelled like plastic burning. Then we realized that the turntable was again not working. We're not sure when it stopped because the light is not working. My son finally got a day off and turned the oven over to open it up. There was a section of the bottom panel that was proliferated so it could be pried off. My son removed the section and it revealed a burn out synchronous motor that turns the turntable. The gear that was made of plastic was literally melted, (thus the burnt plastic smell).
We will replace the motor for $25.00 and the light bulb for $8.00 and try to use it as a back-up appliance. But the easily removable panel on the bottom of the oven indicates that they expected this motor to need replacement, (planned obsolescence). I bought this oven to replace a perfectly good running Sanyo oven only because the Sanyo was 24 years old. I will contact Sanyo and determine what their best oven is and buy that. No more LG anything for me.

I purchased an over the counter microwave, Model LMV1680WW. This was purchased less than seven months ago. First, the light on the bottom goes out then, the microwave just stops working. Now without a sales receipt, no warranty service. I know that they can tell when the unit was manufactured from the serial number but no receipt, no warranty. I'll never purchase another product from LG, no matter what it is. It's a shame, as I was going to upgrade to stainless after the new year.

Purchased a LG microwave and in less than one year, it stopped working. Called the LG customer service line and was told that the microwave does not have any warranty. After I do some research, I decided to change the oven light and the microwave started working again but this time for only one week. This is the worst appliance I ever had. And after just one year, I have to invest another $600 to get a new microwave, but I will make sure not to get an LG again.

I have three LG appliances and I have major problem with all.
My microwave shelf makes contact with the oven wall because of too much play with shelf brackets and because the shelf should be smaller that what it is. It burned a line through to the metal and arced sparks. I wrote to the company service on the LG website but they did not reply. Today I called LG. The company representative said that it was no longer covered with warranty. I stressed that it was a safety issue and a design flaw. I switched to a supervisor who did not budge from that stand. I explained that it has been that way since day one but I had been very careful, that I always pull the shelf to the most forward position. Of course, as it should be safe for everyone.
She said that she could have someone repair it at my expense. I said this was not acceptable. She then said I should buy microwave paint at the hardware store to fix the oven before using it again and not to operate it in the future with the shelf in, some solution! She also said the manual explains when to remove the shelf. I asked if it says never to use the shelf since that would be the only way to avoid the problem. She acknowledged that it did not. I reminded her of the light relay fire issue that they had with their refrigerators and that LG avoided the responsibility for that for about 4 years. Online reports made it clear that they only started to cover the repair recently on the 2005 models.
I also made note of the problem with the leaking of the water through the seam between the two panels on the front of the dishwasher. She noted my problem but again, she said that it was off the warranty, but that she would send someone to my home to repair it at my expense. Again, this problem exists since day one.
Someone needs to make these people responsible for their products. The refrigerator incident could have burnt my house down. Heaven knows what damage the toxic fumes from the microwave could cause.

I purchased a $6,000.00 worth of LG appliances approximately one and a half years ago from Sears. The microwave oven (Model: 2085ST) now needs a replacement door panel not covered by the warranty. The microwave has had minimal usage (average use of once a week which equates to 60 uses). Upon attempting to resolve the problem using the LG customer service line, I was referred to a local service center which did not even work on LG appliances. Additionally, I was placed on hold twice and had to repeat my issue twice to rude employees. The quality of the appliance and the customer service is so poor. Evidently, the company has no responsibility to stand behind their products. I will strongly advise everyone I know to never purchase LG products.

In the summer of 2009, my wife and I purchased a new kitchen with all new LG stainless steel appliances. Since then, we have had trouble with two of the four appliances. We soon discovered that the control knobs on the new LG LRG30357ST range were damaged due to poor design. The oversized stainless knobs were a selling point for us, as they had a nice, heavy duty, commercial look. But the plastic connecting pieces are cracked now and fit very loosely. Then after about a year and a half, the LG LMVM2085ST microwave stopped working after a short period of erratic performance.
We were told on the phone by a customer assistance operator that our one year warranty had expired. And the cost of repairs would be ours to pay. I called the local repair shop with the number given. We would then have to remove the 70 pound microwave from over the range, and place it on the table before the technician arrive. The technician came to the house and made the repairs. But then, he left me to reinstall it myself. About six months later, the same thing happened. Only the lights and the fan work now to serve as glorified range hood. My wife and I have been very upset with this. We wanted so much to be happy and proud of our new kitchen, but disappointment has sullied the experience.

My spouse and I purchased an LG Microwave model number LMVM2085SW on February 28, 2010 from Home Depot store #2036, 1624E 165th Street Hammond, IN 46320, (219)844-5134. However, on December 07, 2010, I placed a call at 1-800-243-0000 to report my concerns that the key pad is not working. Next, the customer service representative direct me to shut off the unit for two minutes, which I did, but then the key pad did not work. Therefore, on December 10th, service was required and the serviceman replaced the door assembly, at no charge. Nonetheless, on July 1st, the same situation happened related to the key pad and the microwave stopped working.
The microwave was no longer under warranty and we would have to pay for another door assembly. I do not understanding why a new key pad only last for six months. I plan to contact someone to assist me on having this particular microwave checked for defects. In addition, I plan to share my experience with family, friends, colleagues, and my community. I will also share the difficulty I am having with LG applicants and strongly urge them not to purchase this brand.
Sincerely,
A very angry, pissed and dissatisfied customerMrs. Debra **

Do not purchase anything from LG! Life's not so good if you do.
I purchased a LG smooth top electric/convection oven in October of 2008 and paid almost $900. It have had spots in the bottom of the oven for the past several months and the cleaning cycles, soap and water will not remove them. I contacted LG's live chat customer service and spoke with Gustavo last week. First day, I didn't have serial/model number so contacted live chat on the second day and got Gustavo again. He told me that sometimes it takes two full cleaning cycles for spots to come up. I specifically asked him if I should run the stove through two complete cleaning cycles. He said yes and that's a total of six hours!
Anyway, I did and now I have a big old rust spot at the bottom of the oven and the paint is chipping off. I phoned the customer service line and got a hold of Tony, who I could barely understand. I told him that he would have to speak slowly and louder, which he did. He tells me that there is no evidence of any on-line live chat with Gustavo on the second day and no evidence that he told me to run it through two cycles. And guess what, when you are on Live Chat with the LG customer service, you are unable to print a copy of the discussion. The almost $1000 stove is out of warranty, so he gave me the number of the local repairman and said he could come and look and see what is going on. That will cost me $85 and then they won't be able to replace an oven. All the ovens I have owned over the years did not ever, ever have rust spots in them.
The moral of my story is run from any and all LG products - they are pieces of inferior garbage that you pay way too much money for to be treated this way.

I bought an LG microwave oven from Home Depot. The over was broken on arrival, the turntable motor had to be replaced. It took over two weeks to get it fixed. Recently, the "start" button on the front panel stopped working. It took a week to get a tech out to look at it. He said that the front panel had to be replaced. Then it took over a week to get the replacement door, which they mailed directly to my home. Now, supposedly, in another week, the tech will come out again and replace the door. Three weeks total to get the microwave oven fixed.
I would never buy an LG appliance again!

The refrigerator then started to freeze my vegetables and fruits in the bins. The serviceman stated he doesn't know what could be causing it, but they have had trouble with the icing on these units. LG ended up free of charge changing the ice makers on these units when we first got the machine.
I have dealt with the freezing. Then our dishwasher inside rubber thing came off. LG said it's non-fixable and that they would give us the buyout. We ended up fixing it, but now the pump and door electronic panel is bad. I had to call for service and order parts on this; more money. Yesterday, I went to use my oven and the burner on the cook top is burned out. I am beyond myself. I have written letters to LG with no response. I have called with no relief on this and Best Buy is washing their hands. This is not right! These appliances are only three years old and I have never heard of this. I am ready to call Channel 5 News!

I have been buying LG products for a few years. I haven`t had any major issues until I bought a microwave from Best Buys about a year ago. It had to be repaired once, no problem. About a month before the warranty was up, I opened the microwave door to warm my coffee and the grill/vent fell and hit my hand,it wasn't a really big deal. I thought until I called Best Buys to have it replaced. Now, it starts to be an issue.
The service center at Best Buys gives me the number to LG because the grill/vent is cosmetic and not considered part of the microwave, so even though it was still under warranty and was not broken by me, the cheap plastic piece had to be replaced by me as an added expense.
Ok, I'm not going to argue. I just know that LG doesn't stand behind their products and they won't receive another penny from my house or family and friends. I tried to say maybe it's just me but I ordered the part and paid for it. Well guess what? They don't seem to have that part, every place has it back ordered. Could it be that this is not only happening to me, but seems to be a common occurrence. Perhaps, I'm not the only one.

I purchased stainless steel over the stove microwave from Home Depot on 9/13/05 for $349 (on sale). First Magnetron went out last year and called LG as this is under warranty. They gave me number to call for a local technician. They told me it was covered and not to worry.
Local technician was only available from 1:00 to 5:00, so I had to miss work for them to come. They did the work and presented me with a bill for $160. I asked what that was for as LG said it was covered and they told me for labor and service call! Sure, it would have been nice if someone would have told me about that ahead of time, that the part is on line for $50 so I could have spent less getting the part and putting it in myself. Then I was getting ready for work and the fan came on all by itself and I smelled plastic burning.
I had not used the microwave in a couple of days, so it was doing this all by itself. I pulled the plug and waited an hour to make sure my house was not going to catch on fire. As it turned out, once it was removed it was the Magnetron part that had melted along with the wires. The part the technician had installed was not an LG part! No wonder. I called them again and they will take care of the Magnetron but I have to call a technician again, miss work and pay an outrageous amount to install the part and have to worry if the thing will catch on fire. Needless to say, I can buy a new microwave for a couple of hundred dollars and LG will never get my business again!

I bought a LG microwave in April 2009 and it has been out for major repairs 5 times in 18 months. The latest was Sept. 8, 2010. This last time, it required the replacement of the main circuit board and fan motor (which was replaced the first time it failed) and the front touch panel. Now my LG electric range (18 months old) is non-repairable because of failure of the porcelain coating. It is flaking off into glass shards.

We purchased a LG microwave model #LMVM2085ST, and had problems with it right from the beginning. We purchased from Sears and the first thing to go wrong was a temperature control internally. Then we smelled something burning and discovered that the tray turn arm was burned and charred underneath the device. We called and they made a one-time repair. When the service guy came out, he told us that they used an inferior motor, and it arched and burnt the control arm. This was fixed in December of 2009. Now in August 2010, the same exact thing occurred and I was just told tough luck, the repair is now on me, even thought they tell me this is an unusual situation. If we did not catch this there could have been a fire or much worst. Well at this point it is the loss of a $500 plus microwave but could have been worst.

I purchased an LG over-the-range Microwave from Best Buy on 01/10/10. On March 26, 2010, I noticed a small hairline fracture just below the door handle. In two days, it was a complete fracture, going from outside corner to inside corner. The whole plastic casing is broken and in time will affect the door operation if it grows still more which I suspect it is doing. I believe this to be a "stress" fracture as it began right beneath the door handle. I contacted Best Buy and I did not purchase the special warranty so they will not cover it. I contacted LG about the damage and they emailed me back about the "cosmetic damage to my washer." They said they could not cover "cosmetic" damage after 30 days. LG did not even know what kind of appliance I had. Not a washer, a microwave. I am out $210 because I was trying to improve my home when I wanted to sell.

I purchased a new LG OTR (over-the-range) microwave this January from a local Best Buy retail store. Not a full 3 months of usage later, the microwave decided it didn't want to work for me anymore. Factory warranty-supplied service technicians came to repair, removed a small piece, and said, "Oh, you don't need this." (Maybe, it was extra.)
The unit seemed to be working fine for a few days until we noticed smoke emitting during a cooking cycle and heat in the cabinets surrounding the microwave. (I thought microwaves kept the heat on the inside.) I unplugged the unit and discontinued use.
I called to have another warranty-provided service technician for service. This alternate company of technicians noticed a fan inside the unit had melted, in addition to the "magnetron" which seemed to be malfunctioning. I was told the repair would be "extensive and would probably be more economical to have it replaced."
I would've rather had this unit replaced, it being 3 months old. But according to customer service, it did not qualify for replacement. The service techs came to pick up the unit for service yesterday. I feel the unit should have been replaced, and if they want to rebuild and put it back on retail shelf, whatever. Take care of your customers, LG.

We purchased an LG counter top microwave from our local Home Depot in May 2009. The unit stopped working Nov. 18, 2009. We called LG and they supplied us with a local service center, control number and it was taken to them on Nov. 19, 2009. The unit was under a full warranty. They told us no problem to fix and it should be ready in 7 to 15 days. Near Christmas the unit was still not ready. We would call the service center and one time they would tell us the parts are in and the next time the parts were still on order and it would be another week. A couple times they told us they were actually testing the unit. The testing went for a couple days to 2 weeks. We were very mad and demanded to talk to a supervisor at the service center and come to find out they were putting new parts into this unit and every time they tested the unit they burned out the new parts the supervisor told us.
We called LG and they were aware of the repair and actually thought we received this unit back at some point. We had not. We learned that LG's policy was to replace the microwave if out of service by repair center for more than 30 days. So we told them we wanted it replaced or our money returned. After many phone calls, many errors, such as paperwork, not being processed by the LG claims processor, having to retrieve this unit from the repair center and then pull a sticker off of the unit to scrap the unit in the field and then mailing it to them and having to wait for them to only print checks on Friday's, we are finally done. We gave this microwave to the LG designated repair center that could not repair this unit. They lied to us the whole time we learned.
Then LG had their own foul-ups in trying to resolve this problem. We were without a microwave from Nov. 19, 2009 until February 17, 2010 when a check was sent to us to replace this bad unit. We seriously made 40 phone calls to resolve this issue. We will never buy another LG product ever again. This was the most unreal experience we ever had. The worst thing was nobody was in any type of hurry to resolve this issue. They have no customer service quality at all. After sending a certified letter to the corporate head quarters in NJ telling them we were going to report this to the Better Business Bureau and report this to our local TV network where they get involved and report abuse, then we were getting phone calls to resolve the problem quickly. The best advise we can give anyone, stay away from LG appliances. They have poor quality and no customer service to back their product and a poor response time. We finally received our check to replace the bad unit.

I bought an LG Microwave in July 2008. Started popping and crackling after about 18 months. Pulled the plastic panel inside the oven and saw black as if something had burnt. Our GE microwave lasted 24 years. We only paid about $150 for it I think, so will just go out and buy another one. Needless to say it won't be an LG. Thank goodness I found this board before we tried it again and had a fire.

I purchased an over-the-range, stainless steel microwave oven/LMVM2055ST on 12/1/06 for $426.99. In September of this year the unit made a loud popping noise and the screen panel would not work at all. I contacted the customer service department and was promptly told that the unit was not under warranty and gave me a number for a certified technician.
When I called the company they told me that it would cost from $250 to $300(without even coming out to look at it -this is after I told them what the scrolling message that was on the control panel - " life test"). Enraged that an expensive microwave would not last longer than two years I called the LG company back and they told me that this particular unit was discontinued after a year in production.
When I asked why, thinking that there was probably a serious design issue, they did not have a convincing answer. I am extremely dissappointed and I have seen a lot of other people posting. Is there nothing that can make them accountable?
I feel as if LG knows that they have a faulty microwave and are hiding behind behind the warranty clause they are using. I am out $427.99 with a 2 year old microwave. I do not think it is fair that consumers have to pay for faulty product and I would like to see LG be held accountable

In June 2007, we bought all new LG kitchen appliances. Shortly after buying the over-the-range microwave, the door hinge was misaligned and we had to have the door replaced. This was covered under the original warranty so no charge to us. Over time, the buttons on the control panel worked sporadically.
Recently, we tried to unplug the microwave and plug it back in with the hope that the control panel would reboot and work again. From that point on, the control panel never worked again. This was the one appliance we didnt have an extended warranty on so there is no recourse on this appliance.
Aftger multiple calls and emails to LG, I've gotten nowhere fast! The customer service reps won't do a thing because it's moer than a year old. I tried to explain that a quality microwave shouldn't burn out in two years, but they have canned responses for everything. I say "canned" because I've heard the same responses when I call and when I tried emailing about this.
We've had trouble with other LG appliances that we bought so please don't buy them! LG DOES NOT stand behind their products. Home Depot does seem to care and they are working with us to replace the faulty appliances.

i purchased new LG stove and microwave, after 16 months the microwave quit working. i called LG customer service and the person i talked to stated that there is nothing he can do because the unit was over 12 months old. I had Amana appliances for over 10 years and no problems with Amana appliances. I upgraded to stainless steel. LG USA has very poor customer service. No one speaks clear English and does not give a heck about customer's. LG means Liquid Goldstar..Rememember Goldstar back in the day? goldstar was junk back then and still is..Weird the addded L in front of Goldstar. What junk and horrible customer service...LG SUCK! I hope the rest of the pieces of crap LG appliances that i purchased from Home Depot in Minnesota holds up. I will never ever purchase such JUNK in the future. Makes you wonder after spending a premium for JUNK LG..

POWER IS NOT DISPLAYING BY MICROWAVE OVEN

October 17, 2009. MY LG counter top microwave is 14 months old (2 months over warranty.) It was a very gently used appliance. This morning while heating water for a cup of coffee I heard a loud POP and then saw smoke pouring from the rear of the microwave. Scared me to death. I immediately unplugged the microwave then called LG customer service. The person said there was nothing he could do. I said the microwave is dangerous and could have started a house fire. He said, once again, there is nothing he could do. He sounded completely unconcerned. Next I called Best Buy (not at all a "Best Buy"). Got the same response..basically "Oh well, you got ripped. Too bad for you." As an aside, the microwave I bought before the LG lasted for 15 years. No more LG for me.

I purchased all new LG appliances in July of 2007. Within 6 months the control panel went out in the over the stove microwave. I called LG and they gave me a number to an approved technician. So I called Jim's Appliance and he spent about 2 weeks in and out and at times just didn't call. Microwave after 2 weeks still was not repaired. So I called LG again and they gave me two other certified technicians names and numbers. So I called Midwest appliances to resume the work the last technician tried to fix. They came out and within minutes new the problem and ordered the part. The part was in within a couple of days and the appliance worked fine. Now, here it has only been a year later and the same exact piece has gone bad again. It baffles me how you can spend over $400 for a microwave that the main control (if this is broke the microwave does not function at all)has to be replaced once again. I called LG and they could have cared less what I said because I was past my one year. If this had been a different problem I would not have even called. But this is the same motherboard part, the guts to making it work. I don't feel as a consumer a $400 microwave that is only 2 years old be shruged off as not their(LG) problem. After getting off the phone with LG I started to search on the appliances and have found there are TONS of people with the exact same problem within 2 years. Any help or advice I can get on this would be much appreciated.

I bought a LG counter top microwave from Home Depot in Colorado Springs on July 14 2008 just 13 months after buying it, the unit stopped working and got really hot on the side and bottom of the oven. I could smell electonics burning. I unplugged it and got it out of my house. I called customer service and told them what had happened they gave me the number of a service center. I was told since it was now out of warranty I would have to pay for repairs. Which in all likely hood would cost more than I paid for it. I'm so sick of throw away appliances

I made sure everyone got out of the kitchen after that and I stood away from the microwave and opened and shut the microwave quickly to make sure I wasn't imagining things. When I did this, the microwave again turned on(both the fan and light). At this point, I unplugged the microwave and, after calming down a bit, I called Sears to complain. I also went to see my General Practitioner to examine my hand because my hand had gotten very swollen and I was having difficulty using my hand to open baby food jars.

I would not purchase a LG microwave, we purchased one in January 2009 from best buy, now it is June 2009 and it completly stopped working, we use it a few times a week if that.. I called best buy and they will fix it but will have to wait 2 weeks before I get it back, hopefully it will work this time, but what an inconvience!

I bought a LG Microwave Oven from a sri lanka. I used this m/oven regularly but very carefully. Before one year this m/oven started corroding. Samt thing happened to my refrigerator. I informed your dealer in Sri Lanka and one officer promised me to take some action on this. His name is B. Dhrmawardana. He is one of the Manager Abans Electrical Ltd.
I informed this 3 years before still no action that's why I have to decided to inform you. Place tell them to take this and repair or do some thing for me. I hope you will take some action and inform me. I use lot of LG product. MODEL NO: MS 194 AS SERIYAL NO : 402KM00062 59ABN-40200062-2SE346

I purchased a complete L.G.stainless kitchen set microwave, stove, refigerator, and dishwasher and the microwave has gone out in 13 month. I thought that maybe I purched a bad microwave but I was wrong. My stove now is not responding to the touch commands on the key pad,we have to wait till it resets to cook our dinner.
To top it all off you lied to me on the entergy savings of our refrigerator when I purchased this set so they came out to fix the problem but they would not look at my microwave. I spent a lot of money on these products and feel that I to put it blunt I was "screwed" over by L.G. which is suposed to stand for "Lifes Good" well life is not good when you spend $5000.00 on appliances that break after one year.I didn't know that L.G. appliances are disposables for the wealthy. You should put a warning lable on the appliances that states not for long term use. I am very disappoited in your product and you now want me to pay more money to get these year and half old appliances to work like L.G. promises.

On 5/26/06 I replaced a perfectly good 6 yr. old GE OTR top of the line microwave due to an upgrade to Stainless appliances with a stainless GE Magnetron OTR Microwave.
It stopped heating after 6 weeks.
After numerious frustrating and unsuccessful complaint calls to Home Depot (HD)and LG CS requesting for the unit to be replaced, I agreed to have the unit serviced and repeated repair appointments, for none of which a repairment appeared, I finally paid a handyman to have the unit uninstalled and returned it to HD where it was finally, after much arguing replaced. (HD's policy is 3 months within purchase - my return was on 9/11/06, after 4 months, but I had proof reporting the defect unit to HD). My LG microwave is replaced after a lenghty wait for service and handling at the HD store. However, I had to pay $10.00 more for whatever reason.
I had to pay again $ 35.-- for a handyman to install the 3rd unit. At each occasion I had to help with the installment, although, I'm officially handicapped and have major carpal tunnel syndrom in right and left wrists, Rheutoid Arthritis in my fingers and Fybromialgia. The unit is heavy and impossible to install by one person.
After succcessful installation of the replacement unit we partially removed the blue protective film and found the Stainless face scratched in various places, as well as some small barely visible dents. We did Not remove the rest of the film but dismanteled the unit and repacked it immediately.
On 09/14/06, the same routine I returned the broken microwave once again and HD issued a replacement. Again, I spent approx. 90 minutes in line waiting till an storage employee was available to lift the huge box via tractor from a 3rd or 4th level storage palet.
At home, I had to hire a handyman once again to install the 3rd unitOn 4/06/08 this unit stopped heating as well, just like the first unit that stopped heating after 6 weeks. This unit broke down after approx. 18 month with the same defect - it made sudden noise, stopped heating and began to smell. The battle with LG began again.
Lester from Fair Price of Orlando, FL ordered a new Magnetron and attempted to install it on 4/17/08. When he opened the unit the saw that the entire electronic board was charred, including plug, cables and 2 plastic bands. Electronic board, complete wiring and magnetron needed to be replaced.
Another phone battle began and countless calls took place until LG finally agreed to issue an extended warrenty. In many instances the phones were disconnected and the phone battle had to begin anew, although, I had each time requested that the LG CS rep call me back in case of loss of phone connection. A complete new comp. board, wiring and plastics were finally installed. When the protective plastic was removed after completion of installation, we noticed that again, there was a small cut like dent in the stainless. Incidentally, the small dents all look alike each and every time and must be stemming from the some specific handling process in the factory.
The nightmare doesn't end here. Today, 04/29/09, the unit broke down again for the same reason. Stopped heating, same noises and burning smell.
I reported the issue to LG CS. The run around begins. I call various service firms (alone that is an experience) and am finally able to schedule a service call for 05/01/09 which is only to determine what is wrong. It doesn't take a genius to know what the problem is this time. Considering the burnt smell and sound of popping lamps or wiring, it is clear to me, it is simply "dejavue." However, LG refuses to cover any expenses for diagnosis, parts or repair. Only the magnatron, if that is indeed what is broken.I'm 59 yrs. old, disabled and currently on SSI income because I have no work. I'm also a single parent with no other family or financial support. We currently have to rely on food stamps and Iam fighting to avoid foreclosure. The last thing I needed is more trouble with LG. I don't even dare thinking of the continuation of this story. LG has been extremely insensitive and difficult to deal with. Thank God I still had all the receipts otherwise I would've been completely out of luck. I'm also currently renting 3 rooms in my house to exchange students with room and board. I desperately need a microwave.

We bought our LG microwave 18 months ago but we only used it it one year because we go south for the winter. Last fall I could feel that the control panel was not responding to my touch. When we returned this spring it does not respond except for the clock. WOW! This microwave is the most expensive and largest time piece in our home! Never another LG product in our home!!

I bought A microvave oven from Bestbuys,on 6/30/08, A few weeks ago when I went to use it ,it started fire in the left side from inside of it, I stoped it , checked everything, turened it on again, samething happened ,I turned it off ,called LG manufactures. First they gave me any excuse to get rid of me and not to help me, like is it over a year, etc. THen finally they sent a service person. Service hecame and I asked him what was wrong with the unit and why is it going on fire. He said I dont know, it is beyond repair and has to be changed ,he said it is a manufacures deffect and has seen this before. he said call the the same number you called before after an hour.
I called one of the supervisors and he said the serviceman has text us and indicated that the unit is dirty and that is the reason it was in fire so they cant do anything about it. Now I know the only dirt in that microwave is the smoke in it, that I left it as an evidance. So please help as it make no sence. The microvave gets in fire when it gets turn on, and they are not even wiling to exchane it or anything Help
It is very dangerouse to use or have in the house, And I need a replacement and cost of instulation ( about $400-$500)

Over the countertop microwave failed after one year - replaced panel - ($200)- broke in 30 days - replaced again (labor $75) - broken again. Called LG - pointing out that this is a DESIGN flaw (steam goes into panel and damages it according to the technician). They dont care - they have very bad customer service and dont stand by their products - NO LG ever again!
Paid as much for repairs (with NO FIX) in the first 1.5 years as the oven itself. Major inconvenience and frustrations

I purchased an over the stove LG microwave oven Dec 2005. Late in 2008 we began getting an F9 error while using it. We would clear it, and it would start working again. In Feb 2009, there was a hard failure, i.e. the F9 code wouldn't clear, and the microwave wouldn't work at all. With a little internet research, I found out that it was probably the magnetron, which has a 10 year warranty. I contacted LG and a local repair company to have it replaced.
They came out and replaced it, but the serial number was obliterated because of cleaning of the surface. LG has refused to cover the magnetron, because the serial number is not available. One e-mail stated LG policies validate the warranty thru the proof of purchase, on the same tag as where the serial number was, is the manufacture date of 2005.
I will never purchase an LG product again. It seems that their warranty is in name only, they don't stand behind the product, and give the consumer conflicting information. Reading other complaints in this forum, I guess I'm lucky that the microwave didn't do more damage.
I may have to pay for the magnetron, even though it's supposed to be under a 10 year warranty.

Lg over the stove microwave went out 6 months after purchase. No longer have receipt and cannot get service. I wish I had read this forum before I bought it. No more LG for me.

Just before Christmas, our LG microwave oven, model LMV1680ST, stopped working. I contacted the LG service center and they gave us the phone number of a local repair company. The repair company techs came out a few days later and determined that some parts needed to be ordered to repair the unit. Two weeks later they came out, replaced a control panel and fuse. Unit still did not work and they left. The repair company owner came out a about a week later and replaced the microwave thermostat. The microwave worked for two days and then went out again.
I have made repeated calls to LG service center and the repair company about the status of fixing the microwave. LG still says they are waiting for the repair company to fax them the work history. The repair company keeps telling me that they faxed the information three times to LG. Now today I talked to an LG superviser at the service center and he, Rick, said the repair company needs to come out at least three times to try to fix the microwave. I've gone through the LG on-line service request web site again, but did not get any feedback from further on-line service requests.

Bought an LG microwave. Failed after 4 months. LG support was bad, service center was worse. After about 2 months of getting repairs done, the unit has failed again, twice in less than 9 months. LG support is still bad. They won't replace the appliance or make any commitment to do so regardless of how many times it has to be repaired.
Also, they won't commit to any future repairs after the 1 year warrantee period, regardless of how many months it is out of service, or how long it has been since the last repair. LG has this ridiculous rule that regardless of whether you register the unit or not on purchase, you have to present the original receipt in order to have any repairs performed. Stay away from LG appliances, stay very far away.
Massive inconvenience.

We purchased the $400 micro in 2006 and it worked until this week. We experienced loud electrical popping sounds and it started on fire behind the panel. Luckily we had an extinguisher and put the fire out. The unit is dead after only 2 yrs.
Our over head cabinet was scorched, my wife was scared to death the house was going to burn down. No more LG over the range microwaves or other LG appliances in our house again.

I bought an LG microwave about a year ago the computer panel stopped working after spending $175.00 service call he told me it was under warranty for 8 years but he does not work on them so i call the company and they said unless I have a reciept they would not honor it .
Inside the door it says it was manufactured in may of 2006 the company says how do we know that you are not the second owner I even have Home Depot call saying that I purchased it there.
Now I am nervious because I also own an LG washer. DO NOT PURCHASE AN LG THEY ARE JUNK AND SERVICE IS WORSE.

November 7, 2008 Professional Engineer gets stumped by microwave oven by LG. 2 year old microwave oven by LG goes dead. One week to get LG to send a serviceman. $128 flat fee paid for the call. LG sent the serviceman in with the wrong part (magnetron) despite having had correct model number communicated to them. Had to help serviceman remove the unit from the wall and take it to their shop. Was told it would be a week (since this past Monday - today is Friday PM) 20 minutes ago I received the call - your part is back ordered - it will be approx. 2 weeks until it gets here.
One clear message - stay away from LG microwave ovens - do your homework - search on the internet - seethe horror stories. Thank you
one month with a hole in the wall $130 paid and nobody knows how much more. cold wind blowing in the Canadian kitchen

bought LG Microwave magnetron (most expensive component) died $ 400 unit , 2 yrs old cost me 4300 to fix and have feeling it will not last. But it is built in so, try to take it off and break your back.
no way to cook for 2 weeks until part arrived Left with 300 dollar bill and not knowing when it will break again , as the partwas the most expemsive and warranteed - the part but not theabor, not thevisit , notthe time one had no oven. LG products - never again!

My expensive high end microwave stopped working 1 yr and 2 weeks after purchase. I was heart broken as the warranty expired at one yr. I contacted LG co and explained the problem. I followed all their requests for receipts etc and thankfully they extended my warranty and repaired it for me including service and parts, it was the thermostat. The recommended service co was great and efficient. He and I both received a letter of confirmation telling us they would cover the costs.
My whole kitchen has new LG appliances. I am once again happy and proud of them, but more so about the LG response and generous repair. Thank you so much, I know that the thermostat rarely goes out and was a freak occurrence according to the repair service. [They] were not required to fix the microwave, but compassionately did so.

Thank you again

I have a LG Microwave wavedome model no: mc8044n. And i used the combi oven on it to bake a cake. Afterwards i noticed it has melted the plastic on the outside of the door. I am sure this is not supposed to happen as it is built to be a oven and a microwave so therefore must be a fault.
I contacted LG who informed me that it is out of warranty and therefore not there problem. I was disgusted at there lack of concern and the danger the microwave could cause by leaking microwave. LG made the microwave surely they should take responsbilty and either repair or replace it, it is only 2 years old.

My husband and I purchased an LG Microwave from HH Gregg. At the time we purchased, we informed them that we were in the process of building a new home. They were informed that the microwave would not be put into use at that time. After we received our occupancy inspection we moved in. It was 6 months after the purchase of the microwave. They said the warranty would start when we moved in our new home.
Needless to say, it quit working lyear and 3 weeks after we moved in. We have placed calls and of course LG will do nothing for us. I guess it does no good to buy what we thought was good merchandise when they will not stand behind there product. I hope all who reads this will not be shafted like we were.

The technology is not even new, the first generation of microwave oven (ie, my old Amana oven) works so well, why couldn't LG make one that will last at least 10 years! The over the range oven was not easy to install, my condo super charged us almost 300.00 to install it. So I paid almost 450.00 for the oven and 300.00 to install it for a microwave oven over the range ! Now only 2 1/2 years later, it stops working. DO not buy the looks, LG better make the product more reliable. Now I am out of lots of money and without microwave oven.

We purchased an over the range microwave oven on 1/13/07. The thermal cup had went in it one year later. The company had paid to replace the part and paid for servicing. Not even two months later, the buttons do not work. The vent fan works and the light inside. The company, LG, said that the only thing they could do is to pay for parts, excluding labor. When you spend $500 on a microwave you expect the product to last or the company to try to appease the customer. I will never purchase another LG product.

We have an LG over the stove mount. micro wave that is less than a yr. old. It has a small burn hole near one of the rack mounts that sparks and crackles when the oven is in use. LG sent out a service company in our area and told them to buy some stray paint and paint over the area. The service company refused to do the repair because they decided that is was unsafe.
We are getting the run around from LG every time we call. It's allways a different story. We heed to get a letter from the repair company etc. We have done everything they have asked us to, but no decission to replace the stove has been made. It seems they are dragging their feet until we are out of warrantee. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
We have been without the microwave for 3 weeks. If left in the state it is in there could be a fire, injury, etc.

I purchased an LG above the stove microwave. It had a one year warrenty. After one year and 2 weeks it started to make a loud electrical popping noise when turned on. LG will not do anything because the warrenty is two weeks past. I have to purchase a new one because it is not worth fixing for what I paid and I will not use it because it is unsafe. I will never purchase that brand again because of this. I could swear they manufactured it to be no good after one year!

I received my LG Model : LMVM2075 Over the Range Oven microwave on March 17th, 2007. I purchased it from Home Depot along with other LG appliances. On or about June 2007 the microwave just stopped working, completely dead. Nothing was in it, there was not a power surge. Nothing unusual happened except the new microwave died. It was very hot inside. I reported it to LG and they issued a repair ordered to their service representative. The repair men came out no less than four times, ordering parts with a week in between each visit the repair man asked me if he could take it with him to take it apart and really investigate what the problem thoroughly. It was then determined by the LG authorized repair company that the original microwave could not be repaired and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so they called LG and requested a replacement. A new replacement microwave was finally shipped to me after months of waiting. On 10/9/07, within a month and a half of getting the new LG microwave, it died just like the other one. No nothing happened, no surges, just like the other defective microwave it stopped, died. It again was very hot inside. It is nothing to do with the electrical because I had a whirlpool microwave that worked for years and years plugged in to the same plug, same place and is still working at a home I gave it away to. I don't want to call and get it repaired and months to get yet another defective LG microwave only to go through this again especially since I have now gone on several consumer review websites and found I am not the only one having this problem with this microwave. This microwave is a lemon. I feel this should be looked into because this is happening to not only myself and the product defective needs to be addressed by a outside regulatory department
I am out $487 + 125 for a counter top microwave that I had to purchase from the first time their microwave died because it took months for them to figure out they couldn't fix it and nobody at their corporation understood the process to get me a new microwave. Now the new microwave is defective also. Don't let this happen to you.

March 2,2006, purchased over the range microwave oven. Within 6 months both (over the range) lights went out. Replacement bulbs are not available.
Now, the oven isn't a year and a half old and it needs the Main Control Board. That will cost almost $180.00, over half the original price.
I hate to spend that much to fix it, only to last another one and half years.
I contacted, Christian, at LG office and since it was out of their one year warranty and they couldn't help me.
I just wanted to warn any future buyers about this products.
Thank you for having this site. Too bad I didn't see it when I was checking LG out.

Bought an LG installed above the stove microwave. broke after 10 months. LG could not get a technician here, but they tried. They have been nice enough to upgrade to a better model, and replace instead of repair my microwave that looks same as new. I am impressed with their efforts to fix my concerns. they listened and took me seriously. There will always be bad apples everywhere. but don't tear up the whole company over a few bad apples!

I purchased a microwave oven on 12/11/06 through Home Depot and the first week it broke. LG Factory Service Center Ft. Worth (800-243-0000) came out to look at in and ordered parts. I was told the parts were on back order, then I was told the technichan ordered the wrong part then I was told I was getting a new microwave. I received a call yesterday and was told my 8 page receipt did not have enough information on it. This is the standard receipt from Home Depot. I called Home Depot and they verified with me this is the receipt they give to all their customers. It has not worked since December and it is now May. I have NEVER bought LG before and NOW will never buy this again after this experience. I received the Run around from LG and the customer service department was rude I asked to speak with a manager and was told 12 times I was not able to and a manager would not be able to help me. I finally was transferred to a manager and she was NO help at all. I still have not heard anything from LG. They sent me a email stating a manager would call me on 4/25/07 and I still have not received a phone call and it is 5/4/07.
