Krups

---

John of Shiloh NC (08/08/08)
KRUPS Toaster Oven (fbc213) fails to disengage heating elements following heating cycle. Toaster Oven must be unplugged to disengage heating element. This occurs following every cooking cycle in every cooking mode. When Toaster Oven is plugged back in unit remains off until heating cycle is engaged again. Consumers may not be aware unit remains on and leave unit unattended, which may result in injury or fire.

KRUPS Toaster Oven FBC213 must be unplugged after every use to avoid fire, electrical hazard, or injury

I had a problem with the Krups Espresso Machine XP 4030 which I bought in November 2007. On May 18th, 2008, I reported via e-mail to Krups customer service that the machine stopped pumping water. When checking on the internet other customers feed back on Krups products and customer service performance, I have realized that the issues I have experienced are pretty common, and Krups espresso owners have been expressing their frustration with Krups Espresso Machine XP 4030 going out of order within a couple months of usage as well as very poor Krups Customer service, not replying to customers e-mails.

Since I had not heard back from Krups either, on May 26th, I sent a complaint letter to KrupsUSA located in Medford, MA. They got back to me via phone and e-mail in 2 weeks, on June 6th, advising to send it to the authorized repair shop. I knew by then that this would not do any good, based on other customers similar experience, so I contacted Bed Bath and Beyond where I bought my Krups Espresso machine. Luckily, these guys are total opposite - both, e-mail based customer service rep who got back to me within 24 hours of my contact, and retail employees. They provided me with the best customer service experience and helped me with resolving my issue on the spot, in the store. It is obvious that Krups products are not reliable across the board, and to top it off their customer service is very bad.

I have an FMF5 automatic coffee pot that overflows water and coffee. Also, there is an air bubble in the water fill tube so I cannot tell just how much water to pour for the number of cups to be made. Krups said send it to Advance Appliance Repair (at my expense - and wait). It came back w/o any paper work, who knows if they did anything? Now, 2 months later it's the same thing all over again. And NO, I'm not sending it back to Advance Appliance Repair, or calling Krups, they've had their chance.

The coffee would fill the counter space, if it dried the coffee would stain the counter. We have to keep a plastic tray under the appliance. If we don't, the coffee would flood the top and drain down the counter side onto the maple wood flooring. I'm not so much concerned about the potential fire and water damage as I am about the electrocution hazards. Krups CEO are you listening?

I purchased a Krups Toaster Oven type 5715.02 that I only used a few times before the door stopped closing all the way. The oven is unusable with the door partially open. I decided that rather than go through a process to get it repaired, I would peek inside.

I pulled the cover off. What I saw is the most appallingly poor design of anything I think I have ever seen! The spring loaded puller has a direct conflict with the ceramic electrode holder. They solved it by putting in a plastic guide that broke, leaving the puller to jamb into the ceramic electrode holder which holds the power wire too. Quite dangerous. Looking at the plastic part, it's no wonder it broke either. Designed by idiots. I will never buy another Krups product after seeing this.

Krups #FND1 Expresso Alegro coffee-maker has a plastic sleeve that goes over the hot-steam exit valve. The plastic sleeve deflects the hot steam and allows for a more even distribution of steam into the milk that one uses for a latte. The plastic sleeves break at the top and thus cannot be used. Replacement sleeves take forever to order. On top of that, poor customer service aggravates the consumer.
