Krups

---

John of Washington PA (01/16/09)
I have a 3 year old model 229 Krups coffee maker and am experiencing the same problem that some of your other complaint filers are having. The switch that controls whether the pot is on or off appears to function normally as does the light. However, the unit remains on and hot to the touch, even when it is switched off and the red light is off. The only way I'm able to use the coffee pot safely is to unplug the device after the coffee has been brewed. Otherwise, the heating element remains on, which is a serious fire hazzard.

This fault prevents a very serious fire and safety hazard. The unit is very warm to the touch and if you were to pour water in on the hot element, a steam blast occurs and could spray on your face. I believe the units should be recalled and repaired or replaced at Krup's expense.

I bought a XP4030 espresso machine in May 2008. The steam nozzle keeps flying off when I steam milk. I contacted to company to get a replacement part. They are not in the business of selling parts and directed me to the service center. The service center will not give me a replacement part, for a product under warranty without the orginal receipt.

I filled out the warranty card, but they does not prove when I purchased the machine. RIDCULOUS, worst customer service ever, they do not care if I get this fixed or not. I have a 150 machine I can not use for the purpose I bought it for.

Someone (an attourney) needs to take on Krups and challenge their faulty goods returns policy. They sell high-ticket items, manufactured in China, which break down frequently and force customers to pay to have the goods returned so that Krups can inspect them. They should cover this expense or not try to attract customers who expect quality in return for an expensive item. There's enough examples of their off-hand treatment of customers - mine is a complete failure of a 350 coffee machine after 4 months of use. Their solution? Ship it back to us and we'll look at it. Do I get reimbursed for the expense? No it's just company policy Well I'm sorry, Krups, that's just not good enough.

the handle on the carafe comes off so we taped it to hold it on. the water level indicator comes out of its position and water runs out onto the counter when we fill the coffee pot with water.

After less than 3 months what I thought was a quality product turns out to be a piece of junk.

2 years ago we bought a Krups FBC512 toaster oven. It was supposed to be the type of the line. Suddenly the heating elements quit working. A call to Krups was unsatisfactory. They kept saying that the unit would have to be shipped to California for repairs. They had no local appliance repair service. 199.00 down the drain! No more Krups for me...ever.
