My Professional series stand mixer just went out after 18 months. I only paid 279.99 at Costco so I am one of the lucky. It suddenly stoppped while mixing a light weight icing and now will only mix at an insanely high speed. I called Costco and fortunately they will refund my money even though I purchased it 18 months ago.

When I read this website, I was appalled at the number of victims who experienced the same problem with their Kitchen Aid mixer. I wish they could all get their money back. I will let Kitchen Aid know about their mixer -- I, like others thought I was buying one of the best on the market It looks like I'm off to Walmart for a cheap stand mixer!

I received a Kithcen Aid mixer in 2004 and use it about 6 times a year, lately, more often. It started leaking oil and now am afraid to use for fear of contaminating whatever I am making. It sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem and would like to see Kitchen Aid stand by their product! There is no reason to buy products from companies if they are not willing to provide adequate customer support.

We recived a KitchenAid 6QT stand mixer as a gift. It was the next step up from the one that we had purchased for 300 dollars. Because we make a lot of bread and use the mixer to knead the dough this mixer was going to be the bees knees. Boy were we wrong... There is a break-in period before kneading the bread dough. So we went from break in to just break. It started making a weird noise but he it was a new machine a heavy duty 6qt KitchenAid. It will last as long as my 80 year old grandmothers had. The worm gear started to crap with-in 2 years and oil or was it grease was leaking and after babying it, just mixing some light things it really went with a bang.

I started to replace parts myself because the warrenty, of course, was no good. Finding the parts was a all day afair. KitchenAid doesent make the parts Whirlpool does But they transfere you to kitchenaid and back and forth. I got the parts finally. There not original but the size matched up. Not knowing when the worm gear went it cracked the housing that holds it all together. Now i have to start all over again with the part thing.

What ever happen to standing by a product. This should not happen to a American product where is the pride and quallity that we once had. The CEOs of Kitchenaid should be ashamed and held responsible for all the bad products they put out. I am not sure if it is going to be worth fixing. will the new parts work. Doubt it...

Even tho we were givin this product as a gift, we had bought a KitchenAid before this for 300 dollars plus several attachments. That one was handed down to our daughter. Now we are spending money on repair parts that I'll bet you will not work right! Not sure it will be worth it. I should just get my mony back for the parts i bought.

We have a 5 y/o KA Ultra mixer that is spewing oil! A week ago, on 11/1/2008 my husband call the KA service center to question why it was happening. The very cordial customer service rep told DH asked if the mixer is used several times a week. NO, was his reply. Well, she said, if you don't frequently use the machine, YOU MUST run it for a few minutes every week! She then asked DH if it was convenient for him to turn on the mixer so she could HEAR how it sounded - it was, so he did. DO NOT RUN THE MIXER she said! She the proceeded to give him the name/number/location of the nearest service center! THIS IS ABSURD! Nowhere in the manual does is tell you that in order to keep the mixer in good condition, you must run it weekly!!

Immediately my DH emailed KA using the contact us section of their website and in detail explained the situation and his thought. NO RESPONSE! So, this past Friday - I pasted a copy of his original query into another contact us page and sent it along as a second request - STILL NO RESPONSE! On Saturday - one week after his innitial contact w/KA. I decided to type the query Why is my Kitchen Aid Ultra Stand Mixer leaking oil? directly into the SEARCH box on the computer.
This has been going on for YEARS! KITCHEN AID -- SHAME ON YOU!

I bought a professional KitchenAid mixer, model #KP26M1XMR in Dec. 2003. Not long after the one year warranty expired, the motor burned out during normal use. The KA service rep admitted there had been a lot of problems with motors and arranged for a replacement.

After three years of use, this motor has malfunctioned. It suddenly began mixing at an insanely high speed and that is now its only speed. After approximately 30 seconds of this out of control mixing, the motor stops entirely. I have bought many of the additional attachments thinking that I was making a lifetime investment. Instead, I am faced with an expensive repair or new purchase.

Having spent so much on the mixer and all the add-ons, I feel trapped into fixing it, although I would be happier at this point to ditch it and buy a Viking. I spent over 400 for the mixer and several hundred dollars on additional attachments (e.g., pasta maker, slicer, food grinder) which are worthless since the mixer no longer works.
