On May 18, 2011, we contracted Ralph Killen to install a new roof on our home. We gave him a down payment for almost $4,000. We have not spoken to him since June. We have tried leaving phone messages and emails, but he will not return our calls. We had a message on our answering machine in September from Amber **, his girlfriend or wife, stating we were on the schedule for the 2nd week in October, but he never showed up. Our attorney sent him a letter stating he had 10 days to return our money, but Killen never responded to the letter. We filed a civil complaint with our local magistrate. Today was our court date, but he did not show up and we won by default. We have also contacted the PA state Attorney General, our local representatives, and the PA District Attorney. To my understanding, this is a criminal offense.

On April 23, 2011, we contracted with Killen's Roofing, to replace our roof in Gettysburg. We gave him an advance check for several thousand dollars to lock in the price of the shingles, because we were in no hurry to have the work done, and the price of shingles was escalating rapidly. On May 9, Killen's Roofing cashed the check, but he never did any work.
On August 31, 2011, we filed a civil complaint against Killen's Roofing in Magisterial Court. A Civil Action Hearing Notice was issued to him for a hearing to be held on October 3, 2011. When he failed to appear for the hearing, a Notice of Judgment was issued against him. As of this date (12/6/11), he has failed to either contact us, or refund the money.
I am responding to a complaint that was posted about our company on December 16, 2009. None of the information stated was true and we are not sure why it was posted. We left several messages for this individual to return our phone calls. These messages were left numerous times. We finally did receive a return call and the job was completed. The customer did not state any complaint to the owner with whom he dealt directly with. I think that this post should be removed and there should be some way to validate the truth to these posts.
We contracted to have the roof replaced in Hanover PA and paid a $1500 deposit. The check was cashed but Mr. K. will not return our calls, emails or Letter sent to him. We would like the roof done or the $1500 returned so we can contract with another roofer.
