Integrity Paving and Seal Coating

Toms River, NJ

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

In June of 2010, my mother hired Garden State Asphalt owned by Vick to seal coat and patch her driveway. Vick took her money and did the job. The following day, my boyfriend, stopped by to check on the job and realized that the driveway was patched incorrectly. The seal coat was applied so lightly that the coating was already chipping, 24 hours later!

My mom contacted Vick right away to come back and do the job the right way. He sent Pete from Integrity Paving over to "assess the damages." Turns out that Pete from Integrity bounced a check a few days prior to this event at Ocean County Recycling Center. Small world? Or just a low life thief? Needless to say, he was shocked to see my boyfriend when he arrived at my mom's house. Pete promised that he would make good on the bounced check as well as fixing the job for Vick.

The following day, Pete cut out an area of the driveway where the patch work was done and said that he would come back the next day with asphalt. That never happened. An entire week later, we heard from Pete. He said that his mother had passed away and he would come back the following week to finish the job. Again, that never happened, and Pete never came back. The Police were contacted and a report was filed.

My mom took Vick and Pete both to court and she got her money back. My boyfriend and one of his employees re-did the job for my mom and Pete also never made good on the bounced check at Ocean County Recycling Center. Vick, Pete, and his wife (who's name represents the business) all lied to us and don't deserve the opportunity to do work for anyone. From what I understand, Pete was just recently in jail and a Ocean County detective recently contacted my mother in reference to Vick because charges have been filed against him for operating a business without a license. Do not give Integrity Paving or Garden State Asphalt your business!

My husband and I were approached by Peter ***** while in our yard to do repair work for our front stairs and retaining wall. After hearing their sales pitch and estimate, we decided to hire Integrity Paving. This is where our nightmare started. They took a $3500 deposit for a $4800. job. They came the next day and did demo work. We did not hear from them again for almost a week despite numerous attempts a day. When we did hear from them, it was empty promises of when they would be here to do the work and asking for money. Pete's brother, Will, came to my house and offered to take over the project for an additional $3000. I said I would not put out another penny and my house looks like a war zone.

Pete came to the house and promised again the work would be complete. Again this did not happen, and we were told it was because his mother was gravely ill and they were in PA. It turns out that Pete was in jail and even his wife who's name the business is under lied and manipulated us. The small amount of work they did do on stairs has to be undone because even though our contract stated stone dust would be used on the steps, they were filling them with dirt which would have my stairs collapse. These people are corrupt and dangerous and need to be stopped from stealing from innocent, hardworking people.

On Sunday, 8/9/2010, men from Integrity Paving and Seal Coating were handing out fliers on our street. We needed a wider driveway, and this was very convenient, and we liked their price. We hired them to rip out our old driveway, haul away debris, apply stone, and asphalt for a new driveway. We gave them an initial deposit of $1,050. The next afternoon, they arrived and completed the work. They knocked out one of our new porch posts and loosened the porch piers doing the work. We paid cash for the balance of $800 (minus $40 for the porch post).

We were given instructions not to park on the driveway for 10 days and to water it for 15 to 20 minutes a day for the first 3 days. The next morning, while watering the driveway, I noticed large puddles in the middle of the driveway and a small puddle at the top of the driveway.

I called Peter L. from Integrity and was told they would stop by at the end of the work day to take a look at it. No one showed up. I again called and left a message. Peter called back at 7:45pm and said he would stop by the next day (8/11) and that he would call an hour before hand to make sure someone was home. No one showed up. I called that night and was told Peter had a family emergency in Pennsylvania and the project manager would get back to me. No one did. I called again the evening of 8/12 and spoke with Peter's brother, Will. Will told me that Peter had stopped by the previous day (8/11) and left paperwork on their desk indicating there was a problem with our driveway where it connected to the street and Peter would stop next Wednesday to discuss fixing the problem. I explained to Will that my husband had been home all day on 8/11. Peter never called and to my husband's knowledge, no one stopped by. I also told Will that the puddles were in the middle and the top, not where it connected to the street.

Well next Wednesday (8/18/2010) came and went and no one called or showed up. I called and left a message for Peter and haven't heard back.
