Rebecca of Portmouth, VA March 31, 2007

Rebecca of Portmouth VA (03/31/07)

I purchased a sink and faucet with the extra parts needed. I paid 185 to have the new sink installed. When the contractor from Perez Plumbing arrived he said the 185 only covers the pull out and put in of new sink. It does not include hooking up the sink and that there will be an extra charge of 95 and hour, plus parts. I paid 112 made out to Home Depot, not the contractor. The following day I was on the phone with contract in hand demanding my money back for the extra work. Nowhere in the contract does it say if the old drain and new drains do not line up then there will be an additional charge for plumbing. A Mr. Smith came to my home, took pictures and agreed with me that the 185 was to cover the entire instillation. It's been two weeks now and I still don't have my money.

Marc of Baldwinsville, NY December 28, 2006

Marc of Baldwinsville NY (12/28/06)
I ordered a tub shower via an associate who was having difficult. It seemed as though she had the order straightened out when we made the final purchase. The fist delivery was incorrect. The second delivery arrived and my contractor went to pick it up, verified the product SKU and brought it to my house telling me he verified this with the store.

The contractor ripped out the old tub shower and upon removing the product from the box, my wife realized that it was the incorrect product...one we did not want. The description on the invoice was what we wanted...the ID number associated with the item was incorrect. In other words, from a word perspective it was what we ordered, but from a SKU perspective it was not. I called the home depot and told them that they needed to allow us to install the incorrect tub shower (so that I had a place to wash) and that they needed to compensate the contractor (and me) for the additional labor. This was agreed upon and the appropriate invoice was sent to the manager. It has been a run around ever since.

It's not so much the money, but the treatment, lies etc. I am having to deal with at this store. It's ridiculous. The value is 750 for labor.

Susan of Gresham, OR December 12, 2005

Susan of Gresham OR (12/12/05)
On 7/15/05 I contracted with Home Depot to remodel my master bath and replace all doors in my home. The job was to begin mid August and take approx. 6 weeks, ending late September. All materials were on site per the schedule, but the job dragged on, with no sense of urgency on the part of the contractor to complete the tasks, and no real help from Home Depot to get the contractor to perform.

The problem is the with the general contractor (a Home Depot's subcontractor). They are poor at scheduling the subs, and have provided ABSOLUTELY NO supervision. There has been nobody but me supervising the work of the subs. What have I found? Permits not pulled, inspections not called for, things mis-measured, accurate information not transmitted, so things need to be done and then re-done after I get home and inspect.

(NOTE: I gave them a plan with notes from my architect )

Days at a time when nobody shows up for work, then when I call I hear, "really? Nobody's there? Let me make a call then I'll get right back to you." But nobody ever does. We are now 16 WEEKS into the project. Home Depot requires 100% payment in advance, so there is no leverage for the consumer when the contractor doesn't perform. My only recourse is to hire another contractor then take Home Depot to court to recover damages.
