Healthmaster Blender

Wallingford, CT

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I ordered a Healthmaster Elite. It lasted three days and was smoking. I paid $200 plus $45 shipping. Then another $57 to pick it up for brokerage fees. I called for a replacement. A week later, I received a new base, $11 again, damaged in the box, very poorly packaged. I called again to return. They want me to pay to ship it back to the States. I came unglued. I made a deal to have half my purchase reimbursed and I would try to make one blender from two. Poor product, terrible service, advisors on the phone know nothing. I highly recommend you stay far away from this product. What a joke. I've never been so angry with a $300 purchase.

Healthmaster model number YD2O88E - It started leaking from the bottom of the pitcher when in use. No recall as of this time. I will not buy anything with Montel Williams' name on it.

With every use, a petroleum-like substance leaks through the top of the base onto the platform where the blender pitcher attaches. The pitcher also leaks food product, creating a very unsanitary mess. All of our kitchen towels are stained, and this unsafe chemical substance leaks onto the kitchen counter. The motor still runs, but it is now so loud. I can't run it any more without staying in the room.

After 6 months of use, my Montel Health Master blender started spewing a rusty oil-like substance from the base, and the motor made a bad noise when in use. After reading all the same complaints of this product, I cannot believe there has not been a recall. Now, I don't even use it, as I am afraid it will cause harm to me or to my family. Montel should stand up, be a man, and declare (if he hasn't already) that he has removed his endorsement of this inferior product. I am very unhappy, being out the two hundred and eighty dollars I spent. It was a waste.

Montel blender: I did not use at first, then when I did, the on switch was broken.

I bought this expensive Living Well Health Master Classic (model number YD-2088E) appliance in September 2010, but only began using it regularly in January 2012. I am making smoothies, without ice, just fruits and veggies, every morning. It is already leaking. In less than three weeks, it was spewing what looked like a rusty substance from the bottom of the pitcher, and yesterday, out spewed part of my smoothie.

I am a disabled, with a very low income, who invested more than I could afford, in order to try to make my life as healthy as possible. Contacting customer service results in yet further required investment into an obviously defective product. In addition, if I were willing to invest $60 more (cost plus shipping) into a new pitcher, it is not possible, because they are not in stock anywhere. I am disappointed in Montel Williams, for promoting this defective product, QVC, with its, normally, exceptional customer service, for selling this defective product, and myself, for trusting both.

I have purchased 3 of these blenders (2 as gifts and one for myself). All three have had problems. The replacement for one was also bad. I want a refund on the last one purchased as I am not interested in acquiring another blender that will probably also be defective. I have already paid shipping twice, which I thought was just plain wrong. So I am also not interested in paying the shipping on another bad replacement. How do these people get away with this?

My brother-in-law bought one and his went out in 3 months. I bought one last month and mine just stopped working with no overheat, now excess use, not broken attachments, it just quit.

I bought the Health Master YD-2088E model, and within 2 years during which I did not use it regularly until recently for smoothies, a oil/grease started to leak from the base of the pitcher. The motor also, over this time, now seems to struggle with just yogurt/milk/spinach and a few frozen strawberries. I looked online and found similar complaints. I called the customer service number, and was told that the leak of oil was due to a crack in the bearing housing, and that problem had been fixed. They would send me a new unit, pitcher and motor base, if I paid the $34.99 S&H charge.

I was not asked to return the defective unit. I'm reluctant that I'm getting into a do-loop of paying recurring fees, to replace a unit that cost a total of $229.95 to begin with. I think if there's a known problem, a recall should have occurred, and replacement after rectification of the problem should have occurred, at no cost to the customer. At this point, $34.99, is cheaper than buying a new but different brand replacement for this product. I was told 2-3 weeks for delivery of the new unit. I will post back to follow up on this post to have record of my ongoing experience with this company.

I got model #40016601 the top of the line. I use the machine not frequently, but enough to break it in. I was very happy with the machine. One day, I made some smoothies and then I was in the progress of making some soup. The pitcher was locked into place. The on button came on but the motor would not run. Now when I called on two different occasions they stated that "I would have to pay for the shipping". I really don't think this is fair. I've done nothing inappropriate as far use and they state,"a 100 year warranty on the motor. Well, that is what is not working. So, why should I have to pay for the shipping on another product. I asked if they have to make the customer pay to get another machine, then they must have a lot of their machines coming back, both times they stated, "no". Well, after reading some blogs, I now know that there are a lot of dissatisfied customers. I'm suppose to be getting a new machine. They stated I would hear from them in 24 hours. As of this writing, nothing.

Purchased this blender in August, loved it. In October it started having an oily discharge from the pitcher when in use. Have read numerous reviews of this happening to others, but there has been no recall of this product.

After using the HealthMaster deluxe to chop up vegetables for a soup, the motor overheated. After going through the reset procedures and numerous tech calls (that annoyed me as being a complete idiot), I was on the second use of this device trying to make smoothies in various fruit flavors. The HealthMaster didn't even engage in delivering its supposed satisfaction for its owners. The technicians on their phone always used a preset method of going through basic troubleshooting on a simple electric kitchen device even though the user was an electronic systems device troubleshooter for Apache Attack helicopters.

I know what a micro switch inter-safety lock is for and can repair one in a snap. I am now certain that the electric motor's commuters are burned out. This machine is very poorly designed and only looks good on the counter as a dust collector. I have called their customer service numerous times and have gotten either a recording stating the service centers hours of operation in West Coast time or a person who said that RMA label will be emailed to me over 8 times in the two years that we have bought this hunk of junk. I know what RMA is, since I deal with types of issues in the military. I have yet to see the RMA in my email accounts.

I purchased a Health Master Blender with a lifetime warranty on the motor. The unit stopped working so I called the customer service number. I was told that I would receive a mailing label via my email in a day; I am to send back the failed unit, so they can mail me out a new one.

I have been calling them for three weeks now, and they keep telling me they are going to email me a label.

I confirmed my email address each time, but still have not received the label. I also wrote to the complaint department and haven't received a response.

I purchased the Healthmaster Elite thinking it was less expensive than the Vitamix I was also considering. The Healthmaster Elite was 4 payments of $49.99 so all told, it came to over $200.00. It came with a nice cookbook filled with what looked to be wonderful recipes. What it didn't come with was a motor strong enough to process meats like chicken or turkey like the infomercial claimed. I tried to make the Monster Mash that was a meatloaf filled with vegetables - a recipe for children who don't like vegetables, but I used to it to learn how to run the machine. I prepped everything according to the recipe and started to process the chicken.

However, every time each time I ran the machine, the motor overheated and shut off. I let the machine cool off and then hit the reset button. I turned the machine on again and the same thing happened. I tried about 5 times before the machine permanently quit on me. The recipe should have taken only an hour (including baking time in an oven). However, since the motor kept quitting, it took 2 hours because I gave up on the Healthmaster Elite and finished the recipe using my Cuisinart. I then had to clean up the various pieces to 2 counter top appliances when I should have needed only 1. While the Monster Mash recipe was an interesting concept, I found the recipe to be bland, to say the least, even for a child's palate.

A 100-year guarantee on a motor doesn't impress me at all when the Healthmaster Elite doesn't work as advertised the first time out of the box. Nor does the 60-day return policy. I didn't want the machine replaced; I wanted a refund despite using the Healthmaster Elite for the first time after the 60-day return period. This is a large machine the requires a large amount of counter space for my very small apartment kitchen. It took me quite a while to clear enough space for this machine because I am disabled and have difficulty maneuvering things in my kitchen. I went to their site to find out that I needed to get a return authorization number.

When I called, I was told I would get a label with the return authorization number on it. Healthmaster wouldn't hear anything of my disabilities and why I missed the 60-day limit so this is what is going to happen: they're going to send me a mailing label with the authorization for the broken Healthmaster Elite, I send the broken one to them, and they, in turn, will send me a new Healthmaster Elite WHICH I DON'T WANT!!

I have two Healthmasters, one standard model and the other overpriced even more Higher HP model that claims to have more power. So with two different units, I couldn't tell any difference between the so called Extra Power to the standard model. Within a few months, the Deluxe Model, like many other complaints I've seen online, began leaking grease from the motor into the base, then started getting oil/grease into the contents in the pitcher, which also started leaking. The lower cost unit, also proved to be a piece of junk. Also Made in Communist China, and routinely trips the circuit breaker on both the unit itself and the GFCI outlet in the kitchen where it is used. I haven't tried grinding a concrete block like Montel Williams claims on TV, but I can say apples, carrots, and other hard veggies or fruits don't do as well.

I bought these to lose weight and get greens, fruits, and other so called healthy foods into me that I wouldn't normally eat. However not only did I gain weight, but some of my health issues got worse following their recipes. I'll take part of the blame for not sending them back immediately when I opened the repacked box to the inner box and saw in big bold black letters: MADE IN CHINA. So at $267 per unit times two, I'm out of over $500 worth in crap I can't use, made in China for pennies on the dollar. I wonder if we should start a class action suit against Montel Williams? After all, he is here in America where we can get to him in the courts. China, no chance. I think today, I'll start calling consumer reporters, Montel Williams show, the Better Business Bureau, and any news agency I can think of about the POS blender. I was among the first people, like many others, that thought this would be a great kitchen appliance when it first came out. Now I'm man enough to admit I was wrong.

I bought the Health Master through a television advertisement on April 2010, then after using, it randomly for the fourth time it did not work. I called customer service to try and resolve the issue and they explain that I was few days late for the warranty that I had purchased. And that they could not refund my money, but they could replace the health master. I waited weeks for the replacement via mail and when I finally received the product, it did not work. I called them again and they wanted to go through the same tutorial to see if it worked and then they just hang up on me.

After 2 months of using the Montel Health Master, it started leaking black oil from the bottom of the unit (so much oil that it dripped). I went online to check the complaints regarding this problem and sure enough it had been reported by a good number of people. When I finally talked to someone in customer service about the problem, I was told that mine was the first complaint in this matter (today's date 08/20/2010). I guess all the other complaints was just in my mind. Go figure.

I requested a full refund, but since I was past the deadline of a refund (2 months), all that was offered to me was another Health Master. I was also guaranteed that this problem would not occur again, which got me to thinking, if this problem has never been reported by anyone else in the history of the Health Master, how could they give me a guarantee. Yes, I am **. I will never ever buy another product with Montel Williams' name attached to it. Shame on you, Mr. Williams.

I purchased the Health Master from a TV commercial. I did not open the blender for 4 months (my mistake). I have used this product twice to make a fresh fruit and yogurt smoothie with no ice. Now, the motor has burned out. I contacted the customer service center on 03/27/10 at 10 am, I explained to their agent what has happened. I was informed because I opened the box and used the product and it was past the 60 day mark, they will not give me a refund or accept the product back.

I even purchased a 3 year warranty but was told that is just for parts. This was not explained to me at the time of purchase. When I asked to talk to a supervisor, I was informed that none was available, and they would call me back. I am still waiting for that call. I am now stuck with a product that does not run. This is deceptive practice. I have since found there are a lot of people having problems with this company. It needs to be stopped. I purchased this product for $239.92 plus warranty $15 shipping $29.99. I am out $284.91.
