Haier touts itself as being the world's 4th-largest whitegoods manufacturer. It is also one of China’s Top 100 IT Companies. Like many Asian companies, it does a lot of everything -- manufacturing, financial services, you name it.

Most American consumers are likely to encounter Haier's appliances and consumer electronics products, sold under its own name and those of some of its 240 subsidiary companies.

A of Waldwick, NJ November 6, 2009

I purchased a Haier hcs10b coffee maker. At its first use, the machine seized to work. It didn't even make enough for a single cup. I emailed the company's customer service department a few times regarding this matter and they have neglected to respond to my emails. I've tried calling the company directly and was only placed on hold for an infinite time. I couldn't even reach a person. Unfortunately, I purchased this machine from a store that is no longer in business, so I am unable to return it. It wouldn't surprise me if Haier America is next to go that is if they continue to sell merchandise that doesn't work.

A follow-up to my last complaint. Upon inspection of the Haier DVD50 disk player, we find the motor is shot after maybe running 4 or 5 movies. This unit was purchased in May 2009 from Electronics Expo. Haier refused to help at all.

Nancy of Lincoln City, OR October 12, 2009

Have left 2 messages and 1 voice message at this company regarding their DVD50 player with a stuck disk drawer. Also emailed the retailer where I bought it (electronics expo) for help. No one is replying. I bought this unit in May of 2009 and have hardly used it. There is no light indication on the unit to show that the power is on, only a light to show it's plugged in. I have used both the unit buttons and the remote and neither works on the drawer. Also tried unplugging for resetting purposes but that does not work either.

Stephen of Grand Haven, MI September 14, 2009

Haier makes various "white good" appliances. I purchased a dehumidifier that died after less than two summer's use. Because the purchase date was 15 months ago, they only warranty the compressor (though the service rep couldn't define what was and was not covered). Bottom line is that the dehumidifier pops the circuit breaker when it is turned on, but Haier won't stand behind their product. A 140 purchase went down the tubes in less than 6 months use.

Gregory of Norolk, NE August 22, 2009

I was told To get an appliance technition to find the problem with the Haier air-conditioner HWR24VC5. I did have it checked out and found that the compresser had siezed up. Anita had said to call with the diagnoses, which I did. I was told it would be 3 to 5 days to get this information to the warranty team. I asked for a feed- back call and recieved none. Five days later, talked to Anita after talking to others and she says their are know compressers in stock. She gave me a number to talk to the department that warrants and orders the parts. They do not have a clue as to when or how things will happen to get my air-conditioner running again. Monday the 23rd of August I am supposed to get a call from someone. I have no faith in this company anymore to say they will do anything they say thay will. A person on this end of the phone can detect the attitude that there is no help here.

The appliance company I chose to get get the diagnoses said they would not do warranty work for anything to do with Haier. I am in the 4th season using this air-conditioner and it is under warranty but you wouldn't know it by the way I'm being spoke to. I have a Haier product which I feel is not getting backed by warranty in a timely or in any kind of caring for the consumer.

I was supposed to receive a 50 dollar rebate on washer and dryer. Now, 3 months later still have yet to receive.

John of Bradford PA (03/20/09)
i bought a haier 7000 btu portable ac unit a month ago. i just now pulled it out of the box to install it to get ready for summer. i bought this type of unit, because i have a heart condition, and figured it would store easily at the end of summer.

to my dismay, when i got it out of the NEW box, the unit looked like it was used for at least one year. there were dings and scratches on it. the filter was dirty. fingerprints all over it, and marhs on the top like someone had set a hot coffee cup on the top.

i cant find a phone number for them. i have sent them e-mails, but they have been ignored. apparently i just threw three hundred dollars down the toilet. it sais right on the box not to return it to the store. i only bought this, because i have a haier window unit i got three years ago, and it worked fine, and still does. i am so mad about this i could spit nails. i am disabled and cant be dragging sixty pound appliances around, especially up to my apartment on the second floor, let alone throwing money around for stuff that doesnt work as well.

i am so mad i am going to walmart this afternoon and getting two ge window units, and having somebody put them in for me. another inconvience to me and a friend or two. they sold me an old unit in a new box. nowhere on the box did it say used or refurbished. somebody returned this unit, it was repackaged at the factory, (that is the only way the box would be new and unopened) and sent it back out as new merchandise. im sure it was never checked out either. i dont know if it works or not. i know i dont trust it.

lost time and effort, gas and wear and tear on my vehical, and 240.00
