Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I bought a Haier washer (encore) 1 1/2 years ago from ABC Warehouse in Elkhart, IN. 1 and 1/2 years later, the drum basin dropped 2". It won't rinse and spin. Model #RWT350AW. I never even used the extra large load. I'm stymied, after doing laundry for 2 people for 5 years, leaving my old washer in the home I sold. Why such a sudden breakdown in a new washer? I called ABC, no info on the techs to fix. I called Haier, no service care in Indiana. Burnt up the phone trying to find a tech to fix. $214 for Sears to fix and warranty parts and labor for 1 year. What other choice do I have?! 1/2 the price of the new washer on sale. Trust me, it was installed right and I know how to wash clothes. I didn't ask them right when I bought it. But the salesman surely talked it up before I paid for it. Big mistake.

People out there buying a TV or any other home appliance, ask for a year in advance. Parts only might be what's covered and that could be a lot of cash. Plus, finding a tech to service it might be tough. I'll never buy from ABC Warehouse again. Live and learn my friends.

After a year and a half, our Haier AC stopped working mid hot summer. Our local repair shop said they cannot obtain parts for these ACs. That Haier contracted with Walmart to sell these AC units but would not sell parts for their air conditioners to dealers. So, the consumer is forced to buy a new one. After talking to our local repair shop, I doubt we are an isolated case. This is a greedy, unscrupulous way to conduct business and every time we turn around, the consumer is getting burned.

Here it is. 2 years and 2 days later, the phone number on the web site is one number short to be dialed. I never got my $100.00 rebate. And the wash/dry combo still does not dry the clothes. I cannot get anyone to help and no one will work on it that I know of. I never got a book with it so I cannot even look up trouble shooting. I spent $796.50 to wash clothes and hang dry them!

Here it is, February 5, 2011, I am again searching the internet for parts and a repair service (if any) for the Haier xqg5011 washing machine that I purchased for approximately $800 in about early 2006 which is yet again dead. I kept the blasted machine even though it barely works and the handle snapped off (cheap plastic door-locking mechanism and so snapped off years ago; have to use butter knife or flat-blade screwdriver to open door) I kept it only to wash small loads of socks and underwear, since that's all the machine can handle. Everything else (shirts, pants, jeans, sweaters, t-shirts), I have to cart to the laundromat, just like before I paid $800 for this piece of garbage. It still overflows and floods (and causes damage to my apartment floors and to the apartments below mine). Prior to its death again a few days ago, I had to check it every five minutes when using it to wash 5 or 6 pairs of socks and 5 or 6 boxer shorts to make sure it didn't overflow. Only thing I can say is buyer beware of Haier!

I purchased a washing machine for my dad and after 2 months it broke. Two repairs later, same thing except I had a flood in my dad's Laundry room area. I was told by the company that a review has to be made for a new unit but 3 days have passed by with no response yet the dirty clothes are piling up and my dad is elderly. After being a long time buyer of their products, you would think they would act accordingly.

On April 16,2011, I purchased a Haier portable washing machine and dryer. The dryer is a model HLP140E, with the serial number of CF05R0E0G00CPB2U0188. I purchased it from Home Depot online on my credit card, and paid $299.00 for it. Around the middle of October, the dryer stopped working. It wouldn't heat up, or run for more than 15 minutes. I called Haier for repairs under the warranty. They told me they would have to outsource it, since they didn't have technicians in this area, and that someone would call me back. No one ever did. I called them again, and told me they had to call me back again. This time, they did with the name of a company to look at the dryer. I cannot locate the card for the other company. The repairman came about a week later, and said that the front panel and heating unit needed to be replaced.

The man never touched the machine. I asked how he knew that, and he said they were the only things in the machine. I was told they would be delivered to me, and when I received them, to call him and he would come put them in. By then, I had not had my dryer for about 3 weeks. I waited 2 more weeks for these parts to be delivered to my house, which never came. I called the repair company back, and they told me that the parts were on back order, and they didn't know when they would come in. I got off the phone with them, and called Haier. They told me that the parts would be in, by the end of November, and would ship out right away. So again, I waited. Around December 16th, I called Haier back. I was told they did not have the parts, and could not get them, and that a ticket had been put in to replace my unit on December 14th, and that it would take 72 hours from the time the ticket was put in, to get approval from corporate, and they would call me.

On December 20th I still hadn't heard anything so I called them back. I was told they still didn't have an answer and they would find out and call me back. They never did. I called again on December 22nd. I was then told that a new ticket for replacement had been put in on December 20th, and I had to wait again, but he would try to push it through and call me back. Again, I never heard from them. Which brings me to today. I called them again, since I didn't hear from them, and was told that my replacement was denied, since they have the parts. After almost 3 months, I no longer trust them. They have lied through this whole thing, and I do not believe they have any intention of repairing or replacing my defective unit. I have my cell phone records to prove the multitude of times that I have called them, trying to fix this situation. I have spent more at the laundromat in the last 3 months, than I paid for the dryer, since it's cold and I can't hang my clothes outside.

I brought a washer 7 months ago, and it already stopped working. It is still under warranty, and the customer service rep agreed, and said she would get someone out to fix it. The problem is, it is going to take 10 days to to get them here. That is pitiful and unacceptable, but I don't have any recourse, but like it. If you are going to a buy Haier, remember, their service is bad.

I bought and had installed a 2.5-ton Haier air conditioner. The compressor had a 10-year warranty (or so Haier said). After one year, the compressor crapped out. It took me two days just to get through to customer service but that did no good, and I got the run around for a week. It was 100 degrees, so I had to call a service company to fix the unit and of course, pay for it myself. After about a month, I got a hold of some ** in New Jersey who informed me that as I went out of "network," I voided the warranty!

I basically paid for two air conditioners with installation because this company refused to stand by their obligation. If I'm in a store and I see Haier products for sale, I'll go out of my way to find a manager and let him know I won't be back in his store as long as he sells products made buy those crooks! I know they probably don't give a ** either but I feel a little better.

I didn't even know this site was available. I've been emailing to the company since day one. In good faith, I bought a Haier microwave MWM7800TBPG on the original carton. One week, it stopped working. I went to L&T and spoke to the manager. He said to bring it in and they'll exchange it. I went home, brought it to the store and it was closed down! I thought, for sure, they would send me to a repair shop or exchange it as he said. But it was closed down and the liquidation people said it's not their problem. I'm so stuck with my good faith, money and get this?

I have other large appliances that I am using. So far, I'm very satisfied. What can you do to help me out? I've never been treated like this before; ignoring the consumer who paid for it in good faith. Please contact me, hope to hear from you. Thanks!

I purchased a beer dispenser made by Haier a little over two and half years, but now the unit stopped working. I called Haier and was told that I had to find service repair myself. I went along with that until after making seven phone calls, only to find out that no one services these units. Why? I called Haier and was told that they cannot help me. The compressor went on, only after two and a half years. I have had refrigerators for ten plus years with no problems. Now, it makes me wonder if this product was worth even buying when they won't even stand behind their product. I am stuck with a broken beer dispenser that no one will repair. I guess I'm out $500. This will not be the only complaint that I will be making, the BBB is next, and so on.

I received a wine cellar for Christmas 2008. It quit working after approximately 16 months. According to the written warranty, only parts are covered for the second year of the warranty. When I contacted Haier customer service (which is an oxymoron by the way), the woman I spoke with said it would cost more for Haier in parts than the unit is worth, so too bad I should go purchase a new one.

I advise anyone looking to purchase any item with the Haier name to research carefully. The low cost of the item will soon be forgotten when you have problems later. Based on the activity I have seen on various websites, I believe there are grounds for a class action suit against Haier. They are not honoring warranties, nor are they supplying durable equipment.

Recall on my toaster oven model RTO1400SS. I was told to stop using send in form with power cord to address label they sent me and throw away the unit. After several months, nothing, except they sent a new label like they never received the unit. They were to replace within 3 weeks a new model. After calling, they would not honor. They are now saying I needed my receipt, which is not in the recall notice. I think they are getting their models thrown out so they won't get a lawsuit when they start on fire, then pretend they never got packaging in the mail. I threw my toaster oven out even though it worked in the promise that I would get a free replacement $25.00-30.00 and the inconvenience of not having one. Terrible company.

I have purchased 2 portable air conditioners and 1 refrigerator. The refrigerator's freezer section had to be repaired twice consecutively because the motor was never installed properly. I lost everything in the freezer twice. Now, one of my A/C units is not working. I have used it maybe 5 times. I have called service 5 times but no return calls. When the system was done, I was never given ticket numbers, et cetera. I am not happy with Haier products! They refused to replace the lost food. I took pictures.

On 6/2/10, we purchased a portable air conditioner unit from target. The first time I used it, water drained all over my carpet and newly refinished hardwood floors. I turned it off and pulled out my manual, no luck with that so I called. Well it turns out that the drain plug was missing. I requested they send me out the missing plug and was told they could not do that until I registered my unit via mail. Registration complete. I called to see if it shipped and they said no, could take up to 9 days.

Finally a package arrived and inside was a small plastic clamp full of small holes, could not be the missing plug so I called back. I was given the 2nd degree. I demanded a new plug ship and guess what I received the same wrong part, again I called and was told to go buy my own plug or go to a fish store and buy a plastic tube and drain the unit through my window. Shocked, why did I have to go out and buy anything? Why couldn't they just send me a new plug? Finally, after at least 10 calls, several which ended up by me being put on hold and after 20 minutes no one ever coming back, I called and asked if the 3rd plug was shipped only to be told no!

Why I asked since 10 days had passed since my last call and the girl told me it was out of stock? I asked when it would be in stock and she said, "I don't know it could be weeks." I then suggested they send out a repair man and she said "Why would we do that? Your unit is not broken." Then she put me on hold and never came back. We decided to try and return the unit to the store we purchased it from since we are sure the missing plug will never arrive. We no longer had the box but Target took it back, no questions asked. Will I ever purchase another product manufactured by haier america? No! Will I ever recommend them to anyone? No!

I received a Haier Thermal Electric Wine Cellar, Model HVW18 as a gift on Christmas. It ran for three months, then quit. I have called the number listed to obtain the nearest service center and they gave a recording to go to their website. I went to the website and they tell me to call the number. I sent emails to them asking for the nearest service center and they do not respond. I called again and went to a different division trying to talk to a real person and was put on hold indefinitely. I would not recommend buying any products from this company.

I have an Amana Portable Air Conditioner; Model # AP148DS, Serial # 08056073. I purchased this unit on 7/2/08 at a wholesale club. Purchase price was $429.99. I used it the first season, worked great. The second season came and it broke after the second month in September. I called customer service. They had me call A&P Factory Service. The guy was great. However, I was charged $98.58 for the guy to come out. He informed me it was the Blower AC-8000-27 ($35.76) and the Conditioner Fan Motor AC-4550-276 ($149.16) (including parts prices) plus the labor to fix it ($233.20) is a grand total of $429.22 plus tax. That is more then I paid for the unit.

I contacted Amana several times via the phone number listed in the manual (888). I went to the Amana website and emailed the customer service (nar_amana_customerexperience@amana.com). I think it is absurd, I would have to pay to repair a unit I used a total of 5 months or have to replace it. No one has assisted me. I kept getting sent to other departments and voicemails. I was told via email, I need to call another number (877) as per Rachel Z., e-Solutions Specialist, Customer eXperience Center, Amana.com, (866). So now it is 3/17/2010 and my unit is still sitting in the room, in pieces as it was left by the repair guy, still broken.

I bought a Haier toaster oven. I got a recall notice that it was a fire hazard and to cut the cord, send it to them and they would replace it. They didn't and that was eight months ago. I can't get anyone at that company to get back to me. I tried emailing them and left message on the telephone. Now, I have an oven with no cord to plug in.

I received a Haier Dual Zone thermal electric wine cellar as an engagement gift in February 2009. The wine cellar has not been able to maintain the desired temperature for over two months at this point. I have expensive bottles of wine that are not being properly stored and in jeopardy of spoiling because of this manufacturing defect. I contacted Haier on their hotline and I was told that no repairs can be done and it would be an exchange issue. Haier will not move forward on the exchange without a proof of purchase (receipt). I cannot provide this since the item was received as a gift and it was purchased at Fortunoff, which is no longer in business.

The "contact us" section of Haier's website is not responding, so I had no choice but to contact consumer affairs. I feel slighted as the warranty covers 12 months and the machine worked properly for less than 8 months. Please assist in any way that you can. The model # is HVTB18DABB and the serial code from the unit is 071100164. It would be great to see Haier stand by their product and remedy the situation as their company service policy says the following: "Reputation is more important than sales volume. Customer is always right. A complaint lodged by customer is the most precious gift. The aim of our work is your satisfaction."

I purchased a Haier HCS10b coffee maker. At its first use, the machine seized to work. It didn't even make enough for a single cup. I emailed the company's customer service department a few times regarding this matter, and they have neglected to respond to my emails. I've tried calling the company directly and was only placed on hold for an infinite time. I couldn't even reach a person. Unfortunately, I purchased this machine from a store that is no longer in business, so I am unable to return it. It wouldn't surprise me if Haier America is next to go; that is, if they continue to sell merchandise that doesn't work.

This is a follow-up to my last complaint. Upon inspection of the Haier DVD50 disk player, we found the motor is shot after maybe running 4 or 5 movies. This unit was purchased in May 2009 from Electronics Expo. Haier refused to help at all.

I have left 2 messages and 1 voice message at this company, regarding their DVD50 player with a stuck disk drawer. Also, I emailed the retailer (Electronics Expo), whom I bought it from, for help. No one is replying. I bought this unit in May 2009 and have hardly used it. There is no light indication on the unit to show that the power is on, only a light to show it's plugged in. I have used both the unit buttons and the remote, and neither works on the drawer. Also, I tried unplugging for resetting purposes, but that does not work either.

I was told to get an appliance technician to find the problem with the Haier air conditioner (HWR24VC5). I did have it checked out and found that the compressor had seized up. Anita had said to call with the diagnoses, which I did. I was told it would be 3 to 5 days to get this information to the warranty team. I asked for a feedback call and received none.

Five days later, I talked to Anita after talking to others and she said there were no compressors in stock. She gave me a number to talk to the department that warrants and orders the parts. They do not have a clue as to when or how things will happen to get my air conditioner running again. On Monday, the 23rd of August, I am supposed to get a call from someone.

I have no faith in this company anymore which says they will do anything they say they will. A person on this end of the phone can detect the attitude that there is no help there. The appliance company I chose to get the diagnoses said they would not do warranty work for anything to do with Haier. I am in the 4th season using this air conditioner, and it is under warranty. But you wouldn't know it by the way I'm being spoken to. I have a Haier product, which I feel is not getting backed by warranty in a timely or in any kind of caring for the consumer.

My wife and I bought a Haier air conditioner (model number HPE07xc6hpe) 2 years ago. We used it for 3 months both years. We plugged it in today, and it does not work. The first summer, it was ok; then it's stored as recommended. Then last summer halfway though, it just seemed to peter out and would not attain a temp below 74. We ended up using the dehumidifier more than the air conditioning function.

This unit sucks. Also, had i known it was manufactured in China, I never would have purchased it. Stupid of me; I assumed it was German or something based on the name. I bought this at BJ's wholesale warehouse and am throwing it in the rubbish today!

I was supposed to receive a 50 dollar rebate on washer and dryer. Now, 3 months later still have yet to receive.

On June 16, 2008 I ordered a Haier 12,000 BTU air conditioner/ 9,500 BTU heater from Walmart.com using their site-to-store shipping option. The total amount for this purchase was $462 including shipping. The item arrived at my local Walmart on June 26 and I picked it up. Item worked with no problems until late August 2008 when it began smelling like hot plastic and blowing hot air then shutting down. Since it was past the 30 day return window for Walmart, I called Haier customer service.

They sent out a person to check the unit in early September 2008. They plugged in the unit and declared it working until I insisted they let the unit run for an extended period of time - or at least longer than 30 seconds. They let the unit run for 10 minutes at which time it began overheating, smelling like burnt plastic and blowing hot air. A few minutes after that, the unit shut off and would not work. The repair person then took apart the unit and ran some test. The repair person informed Haier of the results of his tests and proceeded to order replacement parts. The unit was left in my kitchen, half taken apart.

About a month later I received a couple of boxes and then a call from Haier to schedule a repair date. The repairman came, proceeded to take apart the unit and replace parts. A couple of hours later, repair person put the unit back together, scratching the top quite a bit while putting the air director back in place. The unit was still smelling hot and not working. He said he did not know what else to do and would put in that he tried to fix it and I should get a new unit. This was late September 2008. In November 2008 I received a very heavy box and a call from Haier that they would be sending a repair person to install a new compressor.

About a week prior to Thanksgiving a man came to my house, took the box and the unit outside, took the unit apart and about 30 minutes later declared that the compressor was not useable and he would have to order another one. He put the unit back together again, scratching it AGAIN, put it in my laundry room and left. In January 2009 I became tired of waiting to hear from Hair and made a phone call.

I spoke with Mr. D. F after becoming extremely frustrated and asking for a supervisor. Mr. F stated he would put in a request for a new unit and the situation would be rectified very soon. I took him at his word. The last time I heard from Mr. F was January 27, 2009 via email when he said he would call me, he did not call. I received yet another heavy box from Haier in the mail but no phone call. On March 27, 2009 I again emailed Mr. F requesting an update, was promised a phone call on March 30 and have yet to hear from him.

At this time I have an unuseable unit, the top of which is covered in scratches put there by repair people who were less than careful, for which I paid almost five hundred dollars and eight months of frustration. I honestly do not know what else to do, I have been patient and have tried to work with this company as best I can and they simply do not care about their customers or the quality of the items they are selling.

i bought a haier 7000 btu portable ac unit a month ago. i just now pulled it out of the box to install it to get ready for summer. i bought this type of unit, because i have a heart condition, and figured it would store easily at the end of summer.

to my dismay, when i got it out of the NEW box, the unit looked like it was used for at least one year. there were dings and scratches on it. the filter was dirty. fingerprints all over it, and marhs on the top like someone had set a hot coffee cup on the top.

i cant find a phone number for them. i have sent them e-mails, but they have been ignored. apparently i just threw three hundred dollars down the toilet. it sais right on the box not to return it to the store.
i only bought this, because i have a haier window unit i got three years ago, and it worked fine, and still does.

i am so mad about this i could spit nails. i am disabled and cant be dragging sixty pound appliances around, especially up to my apartment on the second floor, let alone throwing money around for stuff that doesnt work as well.

i am so mad i am going to walmart this afternoon and getting two ge window units, and having somebody put them in for me. another inconvience to me and a friend or two.

they sold me an old unit in a new box. nowhere on the box did it say used or refurbished. somebody returned this unit, it was repackaged at the factory, (that is the only way the box would be new and unopened) and sent it back out as new merchandise. im sure it was never checked out either. i dont know if it works or not. i know i dont trust it.

lost time and effort, gas and wear and tear on my vehical, and $240.00

Purchased a Haier Model HVF042ABL Wine Cooler from Home Depot. It worked for the duration of the warranty, and then stopped working. Home Depot doesn't care and Haier is no help, and no appliance service company in my area will even look at a Haier appliance if it's not under warranty. Never again!

I lost about $400 on this piece of junk. Now I'll probably have to pay someone to haul it to the dump!

I purchased a Haier Stainless Steel coffee pot and out of no where the carafe cracked and now I am not able to locate one carafe. I have tried to reach the Haier Company and have had no luck. The company does not have a customer support phone number. How can I go about contacting this company to order a new carafe. Company phone number not listed anywhere. Thank you.

Cracked glass in coffee.

Bought 2 of them as gifts. One I found out after a month it didn't work and I was able to return it. The other was not used for 2 years but only worked for 3 weeks. Since neither of them worked, it's obvious they produce flawed products. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY! I have sent emails, made phone calls, and, no answer.

My husband bought me a Haier Electronic Coffee Maker as a gift from Macy's for Christmas 2007. After about 4 months, I went to start a fresh pot of coffee one morning and the carafe cracked all the way across the bottom. The manual that accompanied the product stated that prior to contacting customer service I would need my model number, the name of store it was purchased, and the date it was purchased.

So, armed with the required information, I proceed to call customer service. I was told that they could not replace just the carafe, but would send me a new machine for $25. I asked why it would be $25 if the product was in fact under warranty? 'That cost is to cover shipping'. Undoubtedly, I do not want to pay an additional $25 on top of the $60 already spent to purchase the product, regardless of whether or not I'm getting an entirely new machine. I could buy a new machine by a different manufacturer for far less. Apparently, based on the other posts I've read, this seems to be a recurring problem with these coffee pots.

As a result, I have an electric coffee maker with no carafe that is unusable. It will not take any other carafe. It will have to be thrown away. I CAN opt to pay the $25 and get a whole new machine, but will still be left with the unusable base from my original one. I would prefer, at this point, to purchase a new machine from a different manufacturer, as I will NOT give one more penny to Haier, only to have to do this again in another 4 months.

42EP24S PLASMA SCREEN TV purchased at Sears and screen went out only 1 year after purchase.

LOST $1,400.00

I bought Electric coffee maker from Macys on Oct.15, 2008. My wife broke the Carafe. They would not sell the Carafe, I would buy the entire electric maker to get the carafe. I am just now telling you this as it happened in Nov when I contacted Haier. I could get no satisfaction all I got was a runaround. The carafe had a unique shape it would not take any other carafe.

I bought a Mr. Coffee, well made by comparison. I,m out the cost of Haier coffee maker $59.99 and paid $ 79.99 for a much better coffee maker.

I purchased a Haier microwave in Dec. 2005 (mfg on July 2004). Used the microwave for the past 2 years or so, and one day while using, the inside of the microwave started on fire. Luckily, I was not far away and was able to get the fire out and contained it only to the microwave. I then called the company. After being on hold for about 10 mins., I talked to one of the supervisors. Gave her all the info (model#, serial #, name address, etc.) only to find out that since I didn't have a receipt [Who keeps their receipts for 2 years waiting for their micro to start on fire?], they probably couldn't do anything about it. But I am still supposed to send it in (along with all the info I already gave them), and they may be able to give me a comparable one.

I'm out of a microwave, possible fire hazard for others...want to be sure that others know this may happen with this unit.

I purchased a water cooler Model #WDQS015 in 2005 at Staples. On 11/18/07, the water reserved bottle became so hot the the water boiled and melted the bottle at the neck and leaked in the inside. This is a fire hazard, this needs to be investigated and possible recall to prevent future loss of homes or possible life. If we had not been at home, we would have lost everything.

The Haier 455 dehumidifier purchased in Target, April 2006, quit March 2007. I was unable to get it serviced and Haier refused to replace it; so did Target. The 455 was a bad model and was replaced by the 556. It has since been discarded into the trash! I refuse to buy any other Haier products! I am out $138.00 and am very aggravated!

I bought 2 Haier air conditioners in June of 2005 and subsequenty the knobs on both of them broke. I called in July of 2005 and was promised they would be replaced. When I called a second time about 2 months later I was told the knobs are on back order. I have called several times after complaining about not receiving anything.I was told they will be shipped out right away. To date, I have not received anything.

I recently called again and some called me back saying that they were shipped out a year ago and they have USPS tracking number. I insisted that I never received anything. They then told me that since it is now almost a year after the purchase the warranty is over and I would hve to pay for the knobs. I complained that it was not fair since I never received the knobs and I called when the warranty was in effect the knobs should be covered.

Received recall on tower fan which we purchased in store at Linens & Things: Fan Model #FTM125GG, due to electrical problem that may cause a fire. We sent the electrical plug attached to 8 inches of electrical wire as they requested. We also paid for the shipping of the cord. Now they want to give a $30.00 credit which MUST be used to ORDER another product from their company, AND WE must pay the cost of the same product at their current rate of $39.99.

The same product should be replaced at NO COST. We feel that this is not an unreasonable reauest and should be resolved promptly.

We have had much difficulty in getting Mr. Olson to return our calls to resolve this matter. This problem has been ongoing since 1 January 2006 with no satisfactory resolution.

We purchased a Haier AC model HW18VX worth Rs.14500/- on the 12th March. The piece given to us was faulty and we did not use it for a single hour from the time of purchase. Not a single person gives us correct information or service. We just get rerouted from one service person to another. No communication from their end at any time. Contacted TMC Hyderabad from where the instrument was purchased and they say Haier is responsible.

Contacted the Haier executives and they ask us to call TMC. Spoke innumberable times to Mahesh - 040 55454581, Sekhar - 9885370413, TMC executives - 040 27766411, 040 27766422, Babu Rao - 040 55194582. We only go in loops and circles without any service or communication. Looks like the summer will come to an end before we can get any of these buggers to replace / repair the AC.

Huge amount paid, lot of tension, money spent of phone calls, loss of time, frustration and irresponsible responses
