GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

Lots of things can, and do, go wrong with GE washing machines, including:

Or, as Ann of Philadelpia puts it:
As an employee for an appliance parts wholesaler, I can tell you that the GE washer (also sold as Hotpoint and RCA) is the worst design in the history of major appliances.

Others we've heard from recently would probably agree ...

Like many others we purchased the matching GE Adora Washer and Dryer, and like them we are also experiencing the smelly moldy musky smell and never overload the washer, always use only HE soap and I personally check all the pockets of everything before we put it the clothes in the washer as I do the laundry in our home. From time to time we have seen a garment damaged by the washing machine and have also experienced the lack of spinning capacity to ensure all the water has been removed in the spin cycle.

I think it is time to finally put an end to GE's apathy when it comes these products, and unless they have improved them to the point of replacing the machines, they should at a minimum refund the entire purchase price of those machines so as to allow the general public to purchase machines that actually work.

Dryer boought in Late April of 08 started making noises almost immediatly. After letting it settle in, called the repairman. Wait 1/2 a day and he replaces the bearing. Almost immediatly same sound. Repairman is back 2 times but since sound is intermittent, he won't stick around to hear it and leaves within 2-3 minutes. We record the sound, and have him back. he replaces the bearing, and within a day, the dryer sounds like a car wreck happening.

Next week he is back and states the drum is eggshaped? New drum ordered, and arrives a week late, He returns the followiing week. Oops, they sent a used drum. Wait another 2 weeks and get the new drum, he returns a week later, and replaces the drum, bearing, diffuser, and backplate. before he leaves the dryer is making the same car wreck noise. Now they are going to replace the panels. Non moving parts!

Six months, countless hours on hold, six days staying home for the repair man to arrive between 8:00 and 12:00 or 12:00 and 5:00, close to 100 doing laundry at the laundramat, because we don't have a dryer, and they refuse to replace it. It's a 400 dryer! I've talked to Mary, Duan, Shannon, Jamal, Rosa and Al and probably many others. No one offers any real help. It just goes from one to the other, with the same response, Thank you for useing GE, and Have a Nice Day. No more GE for ME

Cost of doing laundry out of the house, transportation to and from, Inconvienience, and aggrivation from sitting on hold for hours listening to the same old song.

I purchased 8/07 for new home, we moved in 10/15/2007 and began using. The plumber had a tech out before we moved in because not all of the packaging was removed and it was making noises. Then I call a GE for a tech back in April 08, due to noise. Then again September 08 for same noise and leaking. The tech now told me the machine's motor was faulty because it was not agitating. It was just balance. I said great because that was the motion the machine always made, it never did any other motion during the cleaning cycle. I thought it was cleaning, and all this time it hasn't for an entire year I owned it.

Well they said they would pay parts only. In the mean time I have spent double electricity, double in laundry soap and lost clothes because they just looked dingy. I asked the repairman if I should continue to use it. He said only if you want to wear unclean clothes. It is ridiculous after having three people out to set it up, repair from packaging, and then again because of same noise....noone tech noticed the machine wasn't working correct since the day I received it.

I have thrown about 400 dollars out in white clothing and jeans that did not come clean, plus I had to wash whites 2 or 3 times and same with jean which increase my laundry detergent and electrical bill. Now they expect me to pay labor charges for the machine.

Have a GE front load washer model # WBVH6240FWW and the matching dryer. Had a techinician in a month ago at 150 know I need to replace the rubber gasket around the door. Of course my warranty expired 3 months ago. So that is no help. It has eaten several articles of clothing and ruined my daughters soccer uniform. I thought I was doing something wrong, until I have seen all the compliants.

Unbelievable that a washer of this price and reputation could cause so much damage. That last washer I had last over 20 years and only had to fixed twice. Maybe better technology isn't always the best. Will never buy GE again and have told everyone I know to do the same. Very dissatified.

Defective Washing Machine Model# WWSE5240G1WW

One month old, loose tub. Service Technician tightened. Three months old, tub loose again. Service Technician replaced big nut.

Six months old. front cover won't stay on. sheet metal bent from regular use. Right front adjustable foot won't adjust. Threew a block of wood under it to level it. Service Technician said he'd order me a new foot. He didn't. Service Technician accused me of modifing machine, I did not. He had never seen a machine like this one. It showed.

Was given a year's extension on warranty.

Eleven months old, will not spin. Waited a wek for service, Service Technician installed wrong motor will have correct delivered to my home, next week.

Back to the laundromat!
