GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

Lots of things can, and do, go wrong with GE washing machines, including:

Or, as Ann of Philadelpia puts it:
As an employee for an appliance parts wholesaler, I can tell you that the GE washer (also sold as Hotpoint and RCA) is the worst design in the history of major appliances.

Others we've heard from recently would probably agree ...

Heather of Johns Island SC (11/12/08)
the GE washer and Dryer is the worst product we have ever purchased. The washing machine takes twice as long to wash a load of clothes as any machine I have used before. The washing machine also eats sock, underwear and bathing suits. The clothes come out of the washing machine so twisted up that no amount of drying will un wrinkle them. I have to iron everything, because it is wrinkled beyond belief. We have to , once or twice a month unscrew the front plated and unclog the drain pipe, and always pull out underwear, bra parts, etc. It is a major deal and no matter how you do it, water gets everywhere. There should be a recall on this machine, but honestly I don't think you can fix it, it is an all around horrible design. Will never buy GE applainces again.

I purchased the Ge Adora washing machine almost 2 years ago and noticed our clothes always smell musty after they have been washed. It drives me nuts! I thought well I will try different detergents and that does not help! I realize that the smell is in the machine itself. Also I have to manually open the drain after every few washes to release the water that does not empty entirely, after the final spin cycle. I believe there should be either a recall or a class action suit!

We are having the same problems as we see many are reporting, our washer is not spinning (jumping all over the place at times and leaving a lot of water on the floor). The rubber gasket has ripped and there is a bad smell from it because the washer is not fully draining. We have had GE repairmen come here multiple times and they blame this on the hose that drains from the machine, the detergent etc etc. They have changed the motor, the control board and the rubber gasket and the mashine is still not draining and there is a foul smell in it and the clothes are not clean smelling. We have told the repairmen that this machine is a lemon but they will not agree on it and are obviously trained with answers to all comments. We are very tired of this and do not know how to get them to replace the machine!

We spent quite a lot of money on the washer and have never experienced anything like it before.

Bought washer at homedepot. The rubber gasket showed cracks after a year. After 4 more washes it ripped completely and the machine will not work. The service personnel at GE were not very helpful. The machine is useless and currently does not work.

I have a baby and both myself and husband work, so we need a washer. This was a waste of my money. Now I have to spend about 1000 for a new machine, 300 for service repair with no guarantee or make daily trips to the laundry mat.

We purchased a GE Adora washing machine April 2007 while the machine was still under the one year warranty we purchased an extended 5 year warranty. Since originally purchasing the machine we have had three service calls. The last incident has taken four service calls and two weeks to repair. The warranty division of GE is rude and unaccomodating.
