GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

Lots of things can, and do, go wrong with GE washing machines, including:

Or, as Ann of Philadelpia puts it:
As an employee for an appliance parts wholesaler, I can tell you that the GE washer (also sold as Hotpoint and RCA) is the worst design in the history of major appliances.

Others we've heard from recently would probably agree ...

Lou of Ottawa ON (12/23/08)
Been having problems with my GE Adora front loading washer that was sold to me as one of the best, when I should have really bought an LG or a Kenmore, which (I now realize) rate much higher in cosumer guides.

I'm having the same problems as mentioned above, lack of draining, unbalanced loads, failure to complete a load, and I am about to check to see if the hidden, undocumented, lint/coin trap is blocked.

Never Again GE, I spent thousands on this, and I thought GE was a huge name I could trust. Pure garbage. My uncle has a small Kenmore front loader that is rated for smaller loads but takes more laundry and cleans better. Go figure.

We purchased 2 GE commercial dryers, model # DHDVH52GF1WW for a small, 13 room bed in breakfast in August 2007. Since that time, the slide wheel & slide drums on top bearings had to be replaced on both dryers due to being of a poor design & cheaply constructed, certainly not fit for commercial use. When I go to Home Depot, I want to buy a good quality product, not have something that needs to be fixed every couple of years. This was an inferior product.

We had to replace parts in the amount of 35.95 and pay 2 hours of labor at20.00/ hr.

im sorry but i had to laugh at the complaint (11/12/08) the GE washer and Dryer is the worst product we have ever purchased.... any how i just got the washer today in my house and took me forever because it weighs more that my durango and this massive energy saver is so large that i had to mover everything in my house to one side just to get it ready to put it in the hall way. i thought that the timer was a clock and realised that was how long it was going to take me to wash 1 load of clothes. it is now 620 and i started id at 500, it restarted because i forgot to put something els in. oops.... well all said and done. after reading all the complaints i think i still have time to return this hunk of junk. thank you for the info guys and girls

flooded room, hurt back and waste of a good day and money

I complained to the company. They take no responsibility for the built in flaws of the washing machine that I bought. Instead, they say it's meant to function that way. In an attempt to compensate fr the machine wobbling she offered to send me new legs and vibration pads. She told me to use the Speed Wash setting for ALL load types; there goes cleanliness. Isn't there an equivanent of a lemon law for appliances? That appliances with flaws are allowed on the market is disgraceful. What I want is a refund so that I can purchase a replacement. Model Numeer: WCVH6200JOWW.

I have been using electric washing machines for the past 60 years. In April 2008 I purchased a GE front loading, Energy Star, washing machine, as part of doing over my kitchen with all GE Profile appliances. I find it -- the washing machine -- to be the most ill conceived, poorly engineered piece of junk that I've ever owned. Water remains standing in the rubber gasket surrounding the door for weeks at a time. I went on a three week vacation, deliberately leaving the machine door open, and when I returned, the water was still in the gasket It doesn't even evaporate. Who designed this piece of junk? Sears made it's sale. They want nothing to do with me now, so I'm referred to GE.

This GE machine just doesn't do the job. I have to now purchase a new washer/dryer for a rental unit that I have. It won't be a GE product after this misadventure. I'd like for [GE] to take this piece of work back and allow me to purchase another model. Meanwhile, I need for [GE] to arrange for someone to come to this house to balance this machine and get the drain system operating correctly. T

ECONOMIC DAMAGE? How can I measure the additional electricity required to operate a machine that saves water? I spend significantly more time tending to a machine than I previously did. My time is also valuable. PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL DAMAGE=ONGOING STRESS: I have to wait hours to do all my laundry because the machine decides how long the load will take. Really dirty laundry takes 2hr 44min as a base time line.
