Gardeners' Choice - Never Received

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I ordered and paid for products I never received. I received a dead tree and some dead strawberry plants and blueberry plants.

I ordered online and I never received the shipment or, at least, a notification of a confirmed purchase. However, I was charged on my credit card.

We ordered tomato plants, $21.98, the check has cleared, but we have NEVER received any plants or correspondence from these people. Never a telephone number listed. Very upset, we ordered the plants on March 1, 2004 from the newspaper article, and still no response. Somebody needs to STOP these people.

Pay by check, bad idea. If James had paid by credit card, he could dispute the charge and probably get his money back.

I sent a check to Gardeners Choice for full amount $9.88 for two Tree Tomatoes including p&h; on March 9, 2004. The ad runs periodacally in NARFE Publication for retied federal employees. The check has been cashed. I have not received any explanation for non-delivery.

I mailed a check on March 2, 2004 for tomato trees that were advertised in our local Sunday paper. The check cleared the bank but we did not receive the plants. After checking your site, I realize I'll never see the plants. My complaint is, why, if the complaints go back to 2002 are local papers accepting ads from them? Isn't it the Consumer Protection Agency's job to shut these places down so more people don't get scammed?

We do our part. The complaints have been on our site since 2002. Carol might want to check with us before she places the order.

I ordered 6 tomato plants from "Gardeners Choice" 3-1-04 and have not heard anything since from them. I received my bank statement yesterday and can see where my check was cashed. I am only out $8.98 But I now have to spend more to get the tomatos I want.

Back in early March I received my Sunday paper which carries coupons and within the coupon section is an advertisement for "Royal Paulownia trees" by a company called Gardeners Choice. I decided to order by mail as instructed and submitted my check for the amount of $22.47 dated March 15 2004. The check was cashed April first and to this day the 6 trees have not arrived. After reading soo many disturbing comments I feel that I have been taken and will never see these trees.
It is hard to believe that our government can allow companies to conduct business in such fashion, and from the looks of it, it has been going on for years. Shame on me for trusting a family oriented publication.

Our government has its hands full. Anyone who sends checks to unknown companies is asking for trouble.

Sent check for $18.48 for Siberian Lavendar Plants. Check was dated 2/23/04-check cleared 3/5/04. To date, have not received the plants, and unable to contact since there was not a phone number listed in the ad from the magazine paper. I am so disappointed!

I mailed a check for $90+ for plants. The check has cleared my bank, but I can't get any response to e-mails. It will soon be too late to plant. If the order is not on the way, I want a refund immediately.

I saw their ad in the newspaper for tomato plants and on 3/10/04 sent a check for $8.98 for 3 of them. I should have checked the internet first, then I would have seen all the complaints listed! I was about to call them today and chck on my order, but realized that even though I have the original ad from the paper, there is no number listed. That's how I found this website. They cashed the check on 3/24, but I have not recieved any plants yet. Someone should place a class suit against them, please count me in.

A class action suit against a vegetable stand? Not likely. You hear about the multi-million dollar class action settlements. That's because they're filed on behalf of hundreds of thousands -- or millions -- of consumers against a large entity. It takes years to prosecute one and can cost the prosecuting law firm millions. It's simply not practical to bring class action suits for, pardon the term, small potato cases.

I placed an order for $38.00 with Gardeners Choice in March for tomato plants, couple trees and have not received any of the items as of this date. I tried to have my order traced to see if it got lost. The postal service said they could not trace it unless it was a certified letter. There is no telephone number listed in the magazine to call. The time to plant my tomatoe plants is past and also the trees.

My father ordered some tomato trees on March 23rd 2003 and the check was cashed on March 28th it is now June 4th and he has not seen any trees. We have made several attempts to contact by phone to no avail. I am now haveing to hear about these trees everyday and try and track someone down. My father is 84 years old and can't deal with a lot of stress.

Sent check on February 8, 2003 for 12 Lavender Plants. The check came back cashed by them but I have not received the plants, have emailed them at no response, I have called 269 621 2481 and the phone is always busy. The check was in the amount of $13.98.

I too ordered the Royal Paulownia tree. Fortunatly I only ordered one and sent them a check for $9.47 cost of tree and shipping on Mar. 26, 2003. The check was cashed and run throught my bank on Apr. 7, 2003 and I have not recieved my order or heard from them at all. Unfortunatly their phone no. was on the order form sent to them and I do not have it. The money is not immportant but I find it hard to believe that a company or person could advertise in well known magazines and get away with robbery which is what it is.

I sent a check for $50.47 to Gardeners' Choice for 20 little trees called paulownia. The check was cash on 2/18/03 and I have a funny feeling after reading all the complaints about this company that I will never receive my little trees. To date I'm still waiting. I hope I am wrong and that there should be some justice out there for the little guy who's taken in by these shading characters. That's my sad story. I hope someone can help. It's not a lot of money, however these ads are placed in national magazines and in coupon envelopes thru out the US. In a sense we are the enablers, because we allow this company to advertise there products.

On 1-28-03 I saw an ad in the Fresno Bee newspaper to order The Royal Paulownia shade tree. I ordered 3 trees and sent a check for $14.47. To this date I have not received the trees or any response from the Company. I also ordered a fast growing tomato tree. I have received nothing. I paid $14.47 for the trees and $9.48 for the tomato bush. I am 70 years old, live on a low fixed income and can't afford to be taken.

On March 26, 2002, I sent an order and check to Garderners' Choice for $29.47 for 10 Royal Paulownia trees. I never received my order or a refund. I have tried to call the above number only to hear the busy signal. The ad appears in my Sunday paper and appears legitimate. I still have a copy of the ad.

I saw an ad in the newspaper concerning some paulowina trees to purchase from the above company. So I mailed off a check to the above address on 3/19/02. It's been a month and a half now; I haven't seen any trees nor have I heard anything from them. They cashed the check I mailed off because I have my bank statement back. But still no trees.

I ordered a tomato tree which was advertised in our Sunday paper. I never received it. I went on line to complain, but heard nothing. I only lost about $10.00, but wonder how many people did.

Ordered 2 trees, sent a check on 5/20/01. Still have not received the trees. I tried to reach their customer service number several times. I have yet to speek with anyone, just placed on enternal hold. I would like to add that this is a long distance call, so I'm out this money as well.

We answered a newspaper ad for three flowering shade trees called "Royal Paulownia". Our check written November 4, 2000, in the amount of $13.48 was cashed; we received notice that the trees would be shipped 'at proper planting time in our area'. We can only assume in August 2001 that this time has come and gone. Now we are unable to reach the company.

We have no trees; we are out our $13.48, we cannot find the company except for a web site, "www.gardenerschoice.net" which offers very limited information re: 'tips on planting'. Although we are limited income 70-year-old people who hoped to give the trees as a gift, we feel fortunate to have been limited in our foolishness to a loss of only $13.48.

I ordered 3 plants on Feb. 12, 2001 check #3662 amount of $15.07 the check was cashed on2-26 01 i have not receved any plants

I found an ad in a magazine and was very interested in the Paulownia trees that were for sale through mail order. I went on the internet to find more information on the trees but never thought to check on the credibility of the business. I mailed a check on April 3, 2001 for six of the trees and as of yet have not received any. I started searching the internet again and found the Gardeners Choice complaint from Dr. Carl about his order that he never recieved. I fortunatly only am out $22.47. I hope that the person or persons responsible for this fraud get caught and pay for their wrong doings.

I ordered some flowering trees that cost plus shipping $14.47. I know this doesn't sound like much but it is the principle of the thing to trust someone to ship what you order and not keep your money and not send it.

I ordered the Hummingbird vines for my mother and they shipped them ... but to the wrong address. They sent the order to my house. After countless hours of my time trying to get through to their phone number I got a person who said they would ship out another order to the correct address as it was listed on my receipt.

Well as you might expect, nothing ever arrived. So it's a month later and still nothing. This company is indeed hiding from consumers. By creating all of the "DBA" names and not listing their phone number, then when you finally track it down they either don't answer or it's busy. I finally called my credit card company to dispute the charges which they said they would deduct from their Visa merchant number. I hope they do. It's absurd that a company can stay in business and continue to be allowed to advertise in honest, family type magazines but continue to ignore customers and (take) their money.
