Who to Contact at Electrolux/Frigidaire

Vaden of Leakesville, MS July 27, 2009

We purchased our Electric Frigidaire Professional Series Ceramic top Range in 2006 after repairs were done on our home due to Hurricane Katrina. The broil would not work at all from the beginning. In less than 9 months,03/07 the complete oven (bake, broil, convection, clock & all) went out.it was under warranty & was repaired.I was skeptical about this product, so when I was offered an extended warranty, I purchased it.Thank Goodness I did. Then again in 2008, same identical problem...Oven/bake/broil/convection/clock would not work. Once again, service technician came out and repaired it.

My extended warranty run out in March 2009 and I could not afford to pay 93. Well, here I am once again, July 23,2009 without an oven/bake/broil/convection. I am contacting Frigidaire today to find out what they will do to, once & for all, solve this ongoing problem with my 1,500 range.(FYI)I received a 3rd degree burn (about 3 inch diameter) on my right arm yesterday because I was trying to BAKE beans in my microwave.IF my frigidaire oven had been operating, this could have been avoided!!

I am one phone call away from calling my Attorney if this Company does not respond positively to my THIRD COMPLAINT. Especially after reading the numerous Consumer reports on this Companys'products. When will there be a recall on these PRODUCTS? WE have been told that it will cost about 500 to repair this problem. We cannot afford this, that is a third of the original cost of the range.Frigidaire/Electrolux are playing with peoples lives with these faulty appliances.(FYI)We also have a Frigidaire Commercial Series Upright Freezer (1,200)that had to have repairs after being used for only 6 MONTHS.I will NEVER buy this Brand again!!

Alisa of Westlake Village , CA July 25, 2009

We too bought the Frigidaire gas wall oven and the same thing happened after one year. The hinges pulled right out of the oven, now we are out an oven, out 800.00 and will never buy a Frigidaire product again. This company needs to stop selling this product. It is obviously defective.

Wendy of DeSoto, MO July 21, 2009

BEWARE OF FRIGIDAIRE RANGES!! We also purchased a ceramic cooktop range in 2003 and have had our burners turn on spontaneously, without the knob being turned on. This has happened, not once, not twice, but three separate times. The first time, the stove was still under warranty. We thought 'oh, well, they took care of it, and now we're safe.' Sooooo wrong! About two years later, the exact same thing occurred. After much complaining with the customer service rep. in the Phillistines (yeah, other than knowingly marketing defective products, they're giving away our jobs), they agreed to repair our stove again free of charge (2nd replacement of the main board). I specifically asked them what would happen should this occur again, because by this point we knew it would. That was in 2006.

Well, lo and behold, here we are again in July 2009, and our burners are turning themselves on again. We went through four different reps before they agreed to cover the cost of repairs yet again. My husband demanded a new stove, and they offered us 50% off retail. My guess is that would be just enough so it doesn't cost Frigidaire a dime. We don't really want another Frigidaire stove, it was just the principle of the issue. Needless to say, we turned down their offer and will never, ever subject our family to the dangers of a Frigidaire range again. If anyone hears of a class action suit against them, please post so the rest of us can join in.

I have a 10/2003 Frigidaire stove model # FEF455BBB that was made in Canada for the above company. It is an electric range/double oven with a electric griddle. The burners will randomly turn from low to high heat without any cause or forewarning. I have had a teapot simmering on low and walked into another room only to come back and find it on high with the room full of steam and the pot totally empty. It has also happened while cooking food and causing burning of the food which could have caused a fire at any moment. One night, I had a pot of water simmering because I was ill and wanted tea. I fell asleep and awoke to the smell of something extremely hot. The burner had switched from low to high and had evaporated at least a quart of water and teapot was blazing hot and smoking. I am terrified this stove will cause a house fire.

DrewM of Circle Pines, MN June 29, 2009

In the middle of the night, while walking through the kitchen, my wife noticed the "HE" indicator on the left rear element. She approached the range and noticed that there was in fact heat coming off the element. She then confirmed that the knob was in the “OFF” position, turned it to “LOW”, “HI” then “OFF” again. Within seconds of being returned to the "OFF" position the element went to full heat followed by a loud "POP" at which point it died. The event startled my wife significantly and has shaken her confidence in this brand new, less than 2weeks old range.

When I investigated this morning I noted that the element wouldn't turn on even when I turned the knob to "ON". Other elements appeared unaffected. Reading similar reports here and contacting Frigidaire support did nothing to allay my fears that this range wouldn’t spontaneously turn itself on again. An appliance that cannot perform the absolute basic function of “ON” and “OFF” has no place in my household. I will be returning the range along with the matching Frigidaire microwave for another brand that stays “OFF” when I turn it off.

The top back burner came on by itself. Luckily we in the kitchen and at home when this happened. The cabinets above the stove were very hot to touch before we could get the curcuit pulled to shut off stove. Very scary stuff. We were actually getting ready to leave our home shortly, leaving our two pets in a closed house unable to get out.

This item was purchased at Lowes 11/2007. In the first week, we had the appliance replaced through Frigidaire because the oven got too hot and completely melted foil put down for a frozen pizza. Looked like abstract art on bottom on stove, smelled horrible too. Next problem, was the stovetop burners quit working all together. Sent out repair tech that replaced all four burners electronic components. Thought all was well until yesterday.

With lastest problem, I am writing this while I wait 8am-5pm on a Saturday for the repair tech. After they "fix" it this time how will we ever get a good nights sleep in our own home? Leave for the weekend without worry?

Patricia of Reading, MA June 26, 2009

I am apparently one more victim of this fire hazard. I cannot believe there has not been a recall for these stoves. Like the others, my stove turned itself on while my daughter was upstairs giving her two month old baby a bath. There was a pizza box on the stove at the time that caught fire. Fortunately her boyfriend came down stairs and saw the flames and put out the fire that was reaching up to my cabinets. If noone had been at home my house would be gone. This is an outrage that I have to pay to fix something that is definitely defective and should be replaced by the company.

Shatina of Macon, GA June 26, 2009

I purchased a ceramic cooktop frigidaire stove/ oven and after only 1 1/2 years the digital control oven panel stopped working. Factory warranty was only for 1 year and frigidaire refused to investigate whether or not there was a defect with the parts in the control panel. I was told that I was totally responsible for repairs. I have purchased others brand appliances in the past and never had any problems after only 1 1/2 years of purchase. I know that there were extended warranty packages available- but should one have to spend 100's of extra dollars on it after spending many on the appliance. I am very dissatisfied with the appliance that I purchased and the Frigidaire customer service. I want to know what if any channels have to be taken to at least get them to see if the digital control panel was defective or had defective parts from the start.

donna of olney, IL June 25, 2009

I own a frigidaire gallery electric glass top stove. While fixing supper one evening I noticed that the right front burner on the stove top had come on and was a potential fire hazard- it would not shut off and my husband had to turn it off at the breaker-very dangerous situation for anyone who has this stove. It is a 2003 model. Frigidaire will not do anything to remedy this issue and I have filed a liability claim against them- I don't know if it will do any good but I am trying- what if this happened and we were not home- we would lose our home and everything in it and possibly our lives if it would come on during the night when all were sleeping.

After relaying all this to the company they still would not help me. They told me to repair the issue. If I do repair it, would I trust that it would be fixed. NO! This stove is a piece of junk as fas as I am concerned and the company knows it. Be Aware.

Stephanie of Cranston, RI June 20, 2009

Regarding Frigidaire flat-top stove bought in October 2007, model GLEFZ379FCC: Off and on "burning plastic" smell that initial product instructions said to disregard as it was "natural." Product suddenly stopped working June 2009. Upon inspection by technician, wiring at terminal block was black and melted and could/should have started a fire. Technician replaced terminal block and cord at my expense. Thought it might have been a freak defect, but now I see online that there have been numerous complaints about the wiring on other Frigidaire stove models. Sounds like a pervasive problem with the company's products, and I highly recommend staying away from them. Frigidaire, and Electrolux, who owns it, are two old trusted names I will never trust again.
