Who to Contact at Electrolux/Frigidaire

Frigidaire, now owned by Electrolux, is one of the oldest brand names in home appliances but that doesn't necessarily mean it's one of the most reliable, as the complaints in this section attest.

Some unlucky souls have trouble with multiple Frigidaire appliances, like those below:

Philip of Sun City, AZ November 28, 2008

Philip of Sun City AZ (11/28/08)
Frigidaire Range, Model FEFL77ASF: On Thanksgiving Day 2008, we set the oven thermostat to 325 degrees, waited for pre-heat to complete and then put the 16 Lb Holiday Turkey into the oven for a planned 4-1/2 hour roast. All went well until the last 1/2 hour when (1) the stove started beeping and displaying F10 on the digital display. By this time, the glass door to the oven was clouded.

We opened the oven and lots of smoke came out and we could sense VERY INTENSE HEAT. We pushed the button to turn off the oven BUT THE HEATING ELEMENTS STAYED ON! Then I took a Fluke optical IR thermometer, opened the oven door and measured the internal temperature. IT WAS 720 DEGREES F!!! No wonder there was smoke! I immediately went to the Circuit Breaker Box and turned off the power to the stove. Then we had a (somewhat charred) Thanksgiving dinner/

After dinner, and after things cooled off, I went to the circuit breaker box and turned the stove power back on, and IMMEDIATELY, the oven top element again heated, immediately glowing red EVEN THOUGH ALL THE CONTROLS WERE TURNED OFF! Obviously, I immediately (again) turned off the power to the stove. Based on this, I will NEVER AGAIN apply electric power to this stove, because I now view it as a hazard, waiting to happen. For all I know, this same condition might have happened with the stove not being used at any time of the day or night. This stove will never see power applied again in this house. It will be replaced with another product that has no association (direct or indirect) with Frigidaire.

If this had happened and we had not been 'at the helm' when it occurred, it probably would have led to a fire that might have burned our house down and killed people! As it was, (because we were there at the moment) we indeed saw the problem and took remedial action before it was too late. Because we had guests for the Thanksgiving Dinner, we have several witnesses to the event, at least one of whom is technically competent (Graduate EE) to confirm what we experienced. Caveat Emptor! (especially if it's Firigidaire!)

Frigidair range model no FGF337BCG. A repair person came out and stated that the intense heat from the bottom of the oven was normal even though you could not touch it and it heated up the kitchen. There is no insulation in the bottom pull out broiling area that looks like a pan storage area. This is unsafe and is not right.

Someone can get burned. A child or adult could leave something combustable in the bottom of the pull out drawer and start a fire or get severely burned. This is surely a design flaw.

We purchased a Built-in Gas Stove (Frigidaire) from Western Appliance on Sep 15, 2008. I used it for 2 weeks, and then went away on a 3-weeks vacation. We returned on Oct 18th. About a week ago, as I was removing some vegatables that I roasted in the oven, the oven door exploded and lucky for me, I was wearing corduroy pants and boots -- and there were no kids nearby---but the glass splashed all over the kitchen.

We called Western Appliance. They first said it's under waranty and they will replace the glass-which we refused. I was not about to use a defected oven--so they finally agreed to replace it- Today they dropped off the oven in the middle of my kitchen and refused to hook up the gas--and/or pay for a contractor to do so. The manager Michael said to just call Frigidaire consumer department and ask them to pay for it! I told him I was not ever going to deal with them again, as they've given us the run-around. He said oh I should be thankful that they helped replace the oven and there's nothing else he could do and he hung up.

I will now have to pay a contractor to come and hook up the gas, as my husband just had surgery on his ankle and is unable to hook it up. I am still shocked by the explotion of the door in my kitchen and still find bits of glass around.

Marion of Rock Creek, OH November 18, 2008

i purchased a dishwasher on 11/24/08 model #fdb4315lfco serial #th70767028. It is broken all the time. Today will be the forth or fifth repair. A few months ago I tried to get it replaced I was told I had to have three repairs. This past saturday night it melted my dishes and some of the spray arms inside of it. I had to shut the power off to it to get it to stop heating.

I work afternoons and came home at midnight, I smelled it burning the second I stepped in the kitchen. My family had loaded it and went to sleep I thank god that i came home late that night or there could have been a fire. After the service man came today i asked him if it would be refunded. No he said it had to be 3 repairs on the same thing.

i called frigidaire and was told it would only be replaced if it was unrepairable. I told them that was unacceptable I have a new dishwasher that never works. It takes on average a week for parts to come in.I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they did not have one there. I asked for a phone number of someone else i could contact regarding this issue and the representative refused to give me that information. I pushed a little more and was told a supervisor was there but was on the other line. I agreed to hold and was told I would hold up to an hour.I agreed to hold.

After about 5 minutes the rep. came on the line and said they called to service man that had come to my house this morning for the paperwork and he did not turn it in yet so i would have to call back in the morning. Which i will

I have several melted dishes and cups. I have lost 598.00 dollars I could have spent on a dishwasher. I have 4 children one of them is handicapped he had to miss some therapy over the summer because of time issues. Someone has to be at the house to let the serviceman in, who only comes to our area twice a week, with no specified time. Now i will not be able to run my dishwasher (whenever it is fixed) unless an adult is home and up because of fear of fire. I am also out whatever it will cost for me to replace this thing because i have to as soon as I can afford it.

Sara of Bayshore, NY November 18, 2008

I PURCHASE THIS HOUSE IN August/08 and all the appliances comes in the package. The frigidare gas stove look like almost new . On 11/12/08 was the first time we used the oven to bake a cake, and we smell a slight something the first time we put the cake in the oven, but thinking that maybe its new it could be a little paint smell or so. about 15mins after we finish baking and turn off the oven the corbon monoxide dector came on loud ,cwe had to call 911 and the fire crew came and found a lot of carbon in the house and we had to evacuate the house they turn off the gas line and they took us to the emergency because my 16 years old son had a head-ach .

Then later keyspan gas came to investigate and found when the oven is turn on the carbon is built up. so they turn off the gas stove completed. but this stove could have been a silent killer from giving out carbon. if my corbon monoxide dector was not working what would the result be ,very sad .
