Frigidaire, now owned by Electrolux, is one of the oldest brand names in home appliances but that doesn't necessarily mean it's one of the most reliable, as the complaints in this section attest.

Some unlucky souls have trouble with multiple Frigidaire appliances, like those below:
Pam of Greenville, AL December 11, 2008
Pam of Greenville AL (12/11/08) Refrigerator was purchased from Lowe's Home Centers on Dec. 27, 2006. On December 8, 2008, A & E Factory service answered a service call and I was told I needed an evaporator at a charge of 310.29. This is ridiculous because the refrigerator is less than 2 years old and cost 428.00 new.
Had to pay 69 for the service call and determined not to fix refrigerator. Yawna of Altamont, UT December 9, 2008
Yawna of Altamont UT (12/09/08) I purchased the complete Professional Series kitchen. They were installed in my new home in November 2007. During the first week of September 2008 my cooktop broke in two. I was the only one home and was in the kitchen at the time. I had a cookie sheet setting on it. I filled the cookie sheet, turned around to put it in the over and when I turned back around I looked at the cooktop. It had broken right in two. I immediately called Frigidaire. I was 2 (two) weeks past the warranty. No exceptions! It must have been your teenagers. They were in school thank you very much. She was so rude. I have just been sick about this. I can not afford to go buy another 600 cooktop.
My other complaint is with the dishwasher from the same series. The top rack dishes get dirtier in the dishwasher. I have hired a technician to come look at it and everything is working fine. I was told the Frigidaire/Electrolux is a disposable brand - meaning... not meant to last. Not even a year. I am very disappointed and there is nothing I can do. When I have called customer service the nearest technician for warranty work is only a mere 7 hour drive away. Obviously no one even wants to try to fix such big problems!
I personally will NEVER buy this brand again. I feel like the consumers should be aware of the poor quality and the extremely poor customer service that is put out by frigidaire. The commercials make me laugh. They definately do not make life easier while I'm rewashing all of my glasswear by hand after every load. I have actually quit using the top rack all together.
Leigh of Chelsea, AL December 5, 2008
Leigh of Chelsea AL (12/05/08) We purchased all Frigidaire appliances for our home that was built 2 years ago. We noticed a few weeks ago that our hardwood floors in our kitchen looked warped around the area of the dishwasher. We had our builder come look at the floor and it was determined that a leak of some sort was the cause of the buckling floors. We then had plumbers come to find the source of the leak. After cutting holes in the floor it was found that the dishwasher was leaking.
We had the people who installed the dishwasher come look at it. It took the repairman two seconds to find the problem. There is nut in the bottom of the dishwasher that was broken. The repairman said this is a very common problem with this type of dishwasher. He also said that given the small amount of water that was leaking and the amount of damage done to the floor, the nut was broken before it even left the factory. I asked him why the water did not run out the front of the dishwasher and on top of the floor so we could see it. He said that the low point of the floor was under our cabinets so that's the path the water took.
Since the leak was so small and the water ran under our cabinets, it took two years for our hardwood floor to warp enough for us to notice it. We are having to pay the plumbers 200, the repairman 112, and God only knows how much to repair or replace a good portion of our hardwood floors in the kitchen. The dishwasher only had a one year warranty and we have had it two years before we noticed the leak. Jodi of Hughesville, PA December 4, 2008
Jodi of Hughesville PA (12/04/08) My husband and i built a new house in which we moved into last October, 2007. We purchased all new Frigidaire appliances including Over the Range Microwave oven, electric range, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer unit. These were purchased at the store Best Buy on July 29, 2007. This past summer, 2008, we had been having trouble with the microwave oven and even had a technician come out and service it when it was still under manufacturer's warranty.
Recently, after the warranty has expired, we have encountered two quality issues with the microwave and an even more serious problem with our range. First, the plastic on the microwave louver has completely broken off over the screws and is unable to be reattached properly. Also, the top of the handle to the door of the microwave has busted off in a similar manner, where the plastic has busted off over the screw and cannot be reattached. We feel that these are quality issues as we have only been using this microwave for a little over a year and have already encountered so many problems.
Second, just last week while trying to cook our Thanksgiving dinner, the heating element in the bottom of the oven caught fire by itself, without any food dripping on it or anything. It just started sparking and making this awful noise and then flames started shooting up in the oven and smoke was everywhere. Luckily, I was in the kitchen (screaming) and witnessed this happening and was able to turn the oven off, or i fear that the entire range could have caught fire and possibly burned our house down. There is a visible place that you can see towards the back of the range on the right side of the heating element that is almost burned completely in half. I was unable to finish cooking the things that were in my oven that I had prepared for our Thanksgiving meal, which was a huge disappointment to me and my family. I am just appalled at how many problems I have encountered in the short time we have owned these products. Here is the model number of the range. model # FEF336ECC the microwave model # FMV156DCG
i have contacted electrolux customer service and they say that i have to pay the service fee (50) for one of their authorized technicians to come out and diagnose the problems, and then they will supply the parts needed to repair free of charge... but didn't state whether the labor to repair and install new parts will be covered. the repair man in due to come to my house tomorrow morning. Iwona of Kensington, CT December 2, 2008
Iwona of Kensington CT (12/02/08) On August 25, 2008 I purchased a Frigidaire Affinity Washer & Dryer from Sears in West Hartford, CT. I picked them on August 28, 2008 and we installed them that day. The following day I went to do my laundry and the dryer failed after the 4th load. I called Sears and they sent out a repairman. He said that the computer board was broke. He went and ordered a new one and said that it would take approximately 2 weeks between the part being ordered and an appointment made to come and install it. In the meantime I called Sears again and demanded that I get a new dryer which they did deliver within a couple of day. I am disappointed in the dryer because it takes a long time to dry my clothes. Talk about an energy efficient product -- takes as long as my 20 year old dryer did. Now, 3 months later my washer is leaking (reason why I replaced my 28 year old Maytag). Tomorrow I will call Sears to schedule an appointment. I am very disappointed with Fridigaire products. I also blame Sears for selling such garbage to their customers.
