Frigidaire Plastic Dishwasher Tub Caught fire! My dishwasher is 10 years old. White was the manufacturer then but my In-laws have a Kenmore that's less than 5 years with the same interior parts. I learned how to maintain it myself, unclog the sprayer arms and make sure the heating element is in the clips and not warping or touching the plastic tub. The dishwasher has worked well enough for its lifetime. I started a wash cycle one night before going to bed. I woke to my alarm clock the next morning and heard a hissing noise. I found a flood im my kitchen! The water feed line to my refrigerator sprung a leak behind the dishwasher. There was a funny burnt smell in the air which I figured the Dishwasher motor may have suffered water damage while running.

After cleaning up the mess I reached for a clean bowl in the dishwasher. It finished its cycle, as expected, and the Clean light was on. I found everything inside it was covered with soot and there is a hole 4 inches wide and nearly a foot high burned through the back of the tub! The heater tube broke apart. The heating element wire expanded out of the tube and ignited the plastic tub! The burning plastic dripped to the floor, passing the plastic water feed line and burning a hole in it which apparently extinguished the fire. The dishwasher continued on until its cycle completed. The Dishwasher is properly connected on its own 15amp circuit. A GFCI is not required.

I don't like using plastic plumbing on projects but I'm counting my blessings with this one. I don't blame Frigidaire directly for this. But does the appliance industry and governing bodies actually think a plastic tub with a heating element is a safe design? New codes require a service disconnect switch on the wall above the unit. I will install a GFCI service switch and my new dishwasher will have a stainless steel tub.

Our dishwasher does not clean like its supposed to. Dirty grimy sandy like dishes! Even the spinning element fell off onto the heating rod making a small burnt hole on the spinning element.

I pruchased a frigidare ultra quiet 111 diswasher at ABC Warehouse in Dearborn in december of 2008. From the beginning the unit was loud, did not drain all the water after a cycle and the dishers were not cleaned properly. Frigidare was called on several times but they continue to state that the unit is designed that way. Water in the bottom of the tub after a cycle is supposed to be normal. I finally have taken the unit out of service. I would not recommend that anyone buy that brand.

I had to purchase another diswasher that cost ne 415.00 again.

My wife and I purchased a Frigidaire dishwasher and were very pleased for a while, we should have read the reviewes, my wife was doing a load of dishes when white smoke came out from the electrical panel, she turned it off and tole me to look at it, so I turned it on and it started to smoke again, then fire shot out from the panel, we turned off the breaker before it set fire to the kitchen, think goodness we were home, not like most times she starts the washer when we go out shopping or to dinner.

The next day I took off the plastic electric panel and removed the circuit board and found is had caught fire and almost melted the board in half. After reading the reviews, I don't think I will waist my time calling the manuf. or trying to replace the part for 157.00 and have it burn my house down or have another problem. Just another peice of crap, made in Mexico stamped on the board.

I purchased a Frigidaire Professional Series dishwasher. I had a new kitchen installed and then the new appliances, dishwasher included. After one year I realized that there was moisture leaking from the door hinge area of the dishwasher causing major damage to my new kitchen cabinets. I purchased this appliance on my American Express card which honours a double your warranty policy. The store where I purchased this dishwasher refused to help me. said I should contact a service guy to determine the problem.

I contacted the recommended company for this Frigidaire product who came to check out the problem. He picked at the dishwasher not knowing why this could happen as he had never heard of such a thing, then he took the control panel out and it blew. now I have no power and the dishwasher doesn't work. My issue was only about the moisture leaking out through the door hinge area damaging my new kitchen.

Finally, after some time without a working dishwasher the repair guy returned, replaced the boards after I refused to pay since he broke it picking at the machine, and off he went. I am still no further ahead with determining why this dishwasher leaks steam and moisture during its cycle. I have contacted Frigidaire, their customer service is terrible and no one you can speak to about it. The store where I purchased it refused to help me saying there is nothing they can do. So now I have a new dishwasher, GE by the way, and the 1.5 year old Frigidaire sits in the garage.
