Fisher & Paykel

---

John of Hustonville KY (06/16/08)
My wife and I finally had enough money to purchase a matching set washer and dryer. We go to Lowe's and find Fisher and Paykel, who are supposed to be Consumer Products rated number 1. I am returning this set today almost one year later. The washing machine has been broken three times in eleven months. This is the worst major appliance purchase we have ever made. Fisher and Paykel refuse to stand behind their product. Lowe's will be refunding my money towards another brand today.

First of all, let me say that I can't begin to tell you how horrible the Fisher & Paykel dryer is that I bought less than two years ago. I had it only three months when it broke and it took nearly three months to get it back working again. Now here it is less than two years old and again it's broken. So I called for repair. I had a hard time finding a repair company because I work and need repairs done in the evenings or on the weekend.

Finally I get someone who says they do repair Fisher & Paykel (and that is a must to find out before allowing any repair service into your home) and they could be there on Sunday May 25. The minute he arrives and starts to take my machine apart I am wary because I have seen it repaired before and he is looking in the wrong area for the working parts. But I don't say anything because I am not a repair person and I figure he knows what he is doing. He finally gets around to taking the front of the machine off and starts testing things. He finally tells me that I need a whole new mother board. What do I know? So I say ok. Get the part and come back and repair this thing.

It is now June 7 and I have not heard a word from him. I called another repair service. And this time I was careful to make sure they were an authorized Fisher Paykel dealer. It turns out that there is nothing wrong with the mother board. The heating element is bad. But there is also some short of short in the machine and may not even be worth fixing. Thank you Fisher Paykel for making such a piece.

Fortunately I have a washer and dryer in the basement that I can use. But I have asthma and having to tote laundry up and down the stairs for the past three weeks has triggered several asthma attacks. To say nothing of what it is now going to cost me to replace this machine. And the 70.00 paid to a repair service that absolutely had no business clainimg that they could repair a Fisher Paykel dryer.

Buying the FP Dishdrawers was the worst purchase I have ever made. Normal dishes don't fit, no place for cooking utensils or large pots. Washes poorly. Noisy. Top side racks totally useless. It's fine however if you use Corel dishes, they're small enough. I'm two years out and on my 3rd service call. Water draining into the wrong tub, broken piece that the wash arm sits on, and out of sync servo units on the lid seal....couldn't open the drawer, had to force it. The repairman told me that every single one they've sold has needed to be repaired at least once. How's that for quality! As soon as Bosch goes on sale I'm buying.
