Farberware has a good name that is rapidly being tarnished by problems with its warranty service, percolators that don't perk, pots that peel and other shortcomings.

Here are a few of the more recent complaints ...

Marjorie of Seattle, WA May 12, 2009

About 3 years ago my elderly mother purchased a Farberware mixmaster; and as of today (May 11, 2009) it is broken. This is the third mixer she's owned in this decade. These small appliances used to be inexpensive and last for decades but are now very expensive and being built to break in a couple years.

This is unfair to the customer, and is very bad for the environment: broken appliances end up in garbage dumps. My mother isn't certain in which store she bought this, but she shops at Northgate Mall in the north end of Seattle, and purchased it at one of 3 stores. I'm still trying to find some paper work to let me know which store.

Warranties don't protect customers; they only protect retailers and the manufacturers. Customers are much worse off than when there was no such thing as a warranty. I would like to post this complaint to a blog. Do you know of any? We need blogs where people can post complaints against specific companies, warning people which products not to buy.

Susan of Smyrna GA (04/17/09)
I purchased my Farberware 12 cup percolator in August of 2008. It quit working in April 2009. Farberware offers no reapair service or returns. I found a company in Illinios that will fix it but the cost is 35 and with shipping to & return it will cost more that the percolator cost. If I had read the other complaints I would not have purchased this pot.

72.00 down the drain!

Richard of Portland, OR April 16, 2009

Richard of Portland OR (04/16/09)
We had the same exact problem as Bill of Bartlett TN (11/14/08). The pot was accidentally boiled dry on the stove. (Years ago this happened with a stainless steel pot of another brand and the red hot pot was rushed to cold water in the sink without any damage) When I noticed the Farberware pot I quickly grabbed it and swung it over to the kitchen sink faucet- causing RED HOT LIQUEFIED ALUMINUM to fly all over the kitchen. THIS DESTROYED OUR NEW FLOOR!

This is an unsafe and irresponsible design. I was very lucky not to be seriously injured, or to burn down the house as a result. The pot does NOT list a warning of this possibility. In fact, the pot is identified as stainless steel with a copper bottom. I had no idea the pot contained aluminum- as I never would have purchased it!

This completely destroyed our brand new vinyl kitchen floor. The entire floor must now be replaced- costing several hundred dollars.

Forwarded all neccesary information and UPC codes to the above address on 12-29-08 for a 20.00 rebate. To date I have not received anything, furthermore there is no telephone number to solve this problem. Please advise as I want my rebate....

Am complaining about the cord that plugs into the Farberware Millennium Percolator coffee pot. The minute you move the pot, the plug that goes into the pot falls out. We just purchased this pot two days ago and have used it just once.
